You explained it well. Thanks for sharing J
Thank you
I think the more gmrs link repeaters the better
No. We only have a handful of useful repeater channels on gmrs. If you have a special situation where you want to link two closely interacting small communities that are separated by a mountain or something? And it works well and benefits others? Then maybe then linking gmrs repeaters makes sense. But the gmrs live and zello linking has gotten out of hand. It's the same few people transmitted all over the country and nobody wants that. It's not meant for a nationwide linking project.
Agreed
At least you acknowledge there is a need to link in certain circumstances. That’s a step to being open minded and having a useful conversation.
As a ham i love linked repertors i live on the Kansas and Oklahoma State line area Kansas has 2 different systems one coves a lot of the earsrn pary of the state and another one that covers a lot of the central part of the state but it also dips into some of Oklahoma
Oklahoma has a system they call the super link that covers a lot of the state except for the western part of the state
But it also gets into Arkansas and Missouri the main reason is for weather sooters but during normal times anyone can use them and yhere is always someone out there to chew the rag with
I did see the comment about the linked GMRS repertors being a big issue with bad actors i guess hams are more respectful then that because we dont have any issues or none that im aware of . I'm really curious about gmrs but no one around here uses it the only GMRS repeater around this area is 100 mi away
I see both sides
If the bad actors start a cyber attack, I suggest that the Internet will be the last to go down. They will make use of the Internet to crash attached systems first.
That could be true
Which mountain did you say you’re having an issue setting a repeater up on? I’m thinking about setting one up on the mountain across from Krogers in CF.
@@Grade8Gearhead a good spot would be if your in iron gate looking towards Clifton there is a tower on top of the mountain. That would help Clifton and iron gate but your low enough that green bank won’t give you an issue. I’m not sure who owns that tower. Maybe get up with the iron gate repeater owner.
@@JDubbsadventure I’m tracking you that’s the mountain I’m referring to. My spot would be due west of the tower by maybe a half a mile. I’m building a dual RA87 repeater, you brought up Greenbank and that never crossed my mind, but the helicopter flight traffic to the hospital goes right over that ridge to the hospital. There is a nice clear spot up there scoped it out this morning. Don’t want to get in trouble. I do wanna know what you’re using to send your call sign out through the net though.
@@Grade8Gearhead I’ll do a video on the auto beacon. Id make sure everything is on the up and up and your not gonna interfere with any radio traffic especially the flight stuff you will have the fcc and the faa on you fast. I’d also pick a few spot out and ask green bank before doing to much. Warm springs mt will help you a lot when dealing with green bank.
@@JDubbsadventurewill do thanks for the guidance!
@@JDubbsadventure I figured out the beacon setup. I’ll be using a Microsoft surface instead of a Raspberry Pi. That software makes it fairly simple. Now just to figure out the simplex software.
Against part 95 heck just use MURS frequencies at 50 watts lol
What about part 94 and part 96?
@@JDubbsadventure 🤣🤣🤣
Don’t forget part 1-95 also there really interesting to read
Hopefully that link will stay up!!!
