That's very interesting to see how advanced studies can translate visually by an attentive design that features artisans and art. As part of my own doctorate studies, in Tiotia:keh/Montréal, I studied the history of fair trade, parts of Global South's history and autodetermination struggles against neocolonial ngos. I appreciated various confections, products and produces from around the world from fair trade banners and artisans. It helped me to remind a bit better my reads and to organise my knowledge of geography so that I can find more relevant reads from marginalised communities and better engage in regards of their demands. Sometimes, I would need more styling advices to respectfully showcase, expose or value artisans' crafts I bought. I don't want to appropriate elements of marginalised cultures, but to help support them and curate them. I also don't want to imitate nor whitewash those elements. I like how design helps me to be more sensible about extreme poverty realities and support me to get more determined to be a better ally. Even if my income doesn't allow me to be of much help or support. At least, I don't forget about the global south lived experiences and can work toward justice and equity for and from marginalised and oppressed communities by the global white capitalism from my collectivity and online.
