Got my ninja 500 and my clutch cable was way out of whack had to adjust that sumbitch now the clutch feels nice, was way out when I got mine. Need to adjust my throttle a bit and it’s perfect
That is literally the first complaint of getting this bike! The clutch cable was soo far out for what? You dont even get like 1mm before friction zone and the end of letting the clutch go. Honestly now that you mention the throttle that might be something I look into.
Yeah adjusted my throttle too, it was a little awkward getting to it but it had a bit of freeplay I didn’t want so I tightened it, it’s got a hair of freeplay but not as much now. Was riding mine around today a little still getting used to downshifts, upshifts are good. Brand new rider no parking lot experience just went from a driveway and controlling the friction zone and giving a bit of gas and going and learning to shift on the roads lmao pretty smooth so far, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears are so forgiving. I think I was running them around 5k rpm’s or a tiny bit higher but nothing crazy like redlining. Love the bike.
Its good to rev higher on bikes so shifting around the 7k - 8k is completely healthy for these bikes! But literally the roads are not scary at all! Just be confident in your actions but pay attention to drivers and you good!
Yeah I was watching other guys shift on the 500 way lower in rpm’s tbh but watching your videos before I actually rode I realized how much rpm’s you can spare before you need to change gears healthily on the 500. Very lenient bike very forgiving!
Bro, I cannot wait until next week for the weather to clear up so I can get on my '24 ninja 500 se for the first time. I just know that riding around will be so freeing and relaxing
I’m excited for you 😎 its such a fun bike!!! And as long as you remember to watch out for drivers and ride within your limits it really is! Also the weather had been so hit or miss so I feel that 😭😭
@@Raevinh yeah I'm in indiana where the weather is truly bipolar lol. but seeing you ride on your 500 is making me so excited to finally get out there on mine. i have the 2024 500 se krt as my first and starter. its a great starter and very forgiving. a bit heavier than the 400 and i had to lower it all the way on the shock and can still only flat foot one foot at stops but its perfect entry level and unless youre doing long hauls i dont see myself getting tired of it any time soon. the rps are set to 4000 when you buy it but you can adjust it through the display so its not telling you to shift till later on. along with that you dont have to worry as much about shifting before corners. i definately recommend it.
@@danswizzle4113what’s your inseam? I also have a ninja 500 se. I’ve been trying to learn to flat foot one foot since I can’t flat foot both (literally on the tip of my tip toes trying to stop on both feet). Debating if I should lower it
@cophy7805 it's like.. 28ish. But I wear irish setters boots and they have about a 1.25 inch sole. I don't recommend lowering it but also it's your bike and your choice. You can always remove the links later. But just know, lowering it will affect the geometry of the bike a bit. And you will be limited to how much of a load you can carry.

Im short too so you will be fine! You might have to tiptoe but otherwise like stated by Scottk3402 just lean to the left and have your other foot on the rear break. Or lower the bike slightly!
