It is good to note that the reason why Windows ran on only ring 0 and 3 was because back then during the development of NT3.5, NT3.51, and NT4.0, they supported 3 architectures other than x86 which were PowerPC, Alpha, and MIPS. PowerPC and MIPs only had 2 rings of protection and for continuity in functionality between these 4 platforms, only 2 rings were used.

Great video but what is the criteria for these processes; how do we know what they should be? How do we use this as a tool other than see what the various contents show?
Microsoft set the rules for processes in their SDK kits they provide to developers. Linux/Android and iOS all have something similar and they too have process monitoring tools like sysinternals. These tools help the IT pro in collecting information about a software or operating system problem then communicate their finding to developers. Developers to the hard work of debugging code.
Any client or server in any type of VM still needs the same update/patch cycle, security policies and management as if it was running on real hardware.

i am watching all the videos on VM's you put put Windows 7 in a VM my question is do you still have to do security updates when installed in VM Ware
