- In this video I go fallow deer hunting with a rifle for the first time, in Whanganui, North Island of New Zealand, altho filmed late 2023, publishing this in time for the 2024 fallow deer roar / rut for your viewing pleasure!
hunting with my mate Antony, and his mates, Roger & James.
Roger teaches me a whole bunch of tips for hunting and we end up having a VERY SUCCESSFUL hunt.
We then try our luck fresh water river fishing for trout hoping to land something for the table and to Catch n Cook.
We certainly have a few hiccups along the way which should make it very interesting for you guys!
We finally make it back to the kitchen where I cook up fish and make homemade wild venison sausages.
It was a truly incredible trip and one I’ll remember for a lifetime!
I was using a Tikka T3X 7mm09 bolt-action with a burris 4x10 scope, with Nosler ballistic rounds.

What sorta scope you running on the tikka?
Hey mate! It was a combo package from H&F. Scope is a Burris 3-9x40mm Dropline.
I could have gotten the 14x magnification for a bit more but preferred it better for closer range.
So far seems to work mint!
