Skinny muddies do extremely well in mud, rocks and sand if you have the correct tyre pressure. As the saying goes "nothing better than a troopy on skinnies"
It's nice seeing another troopy out on the tracks following much lighter vehicles with more power, I have a non turbo 1hz 78 and it would of got stuck in the all the same places mate good drive! Always lots of winching with the good ol troopys haha
To the guy with the troopy. Your getting a rear locker. Good idea, but realize one thing, especially if your going to eventually go 35's or larger. The Axle Flange studs may not hold up. The 40-90 Series used 6 x 8mm studs. They are not really up for the extra stress. My 75 Troopy broke heaps of them when I fitted lockers. I eventually changed over to chrome molly studs but even then, I had them backing out (coming undone and disappearing on the track). In retrospect, that may have been because I had snapped and had to easyout so many stock ones that the hub was probably stuffed. The threads were probably not the best due to constantly having to drill out the studs, not always getting the drill holes in the middle of the studs :( I eventually installed 10mm studs and all my stud snapping and unscrewing issues disappeared. But there was a down side. The spring cones and nuts stick slightly proud of the center hub, so you need to remove them if you want to change a tyre. Not a huge thing, but it does mean changing a rear flat takes an extra 10 minutes or so to change while you remove and refit the Axle stud nuts, washers and cones. The chrome molly 8mm studs are probably the better idea (providing they are going into a hub that hasn't had the stud threads butchered already). From memory, Chrome Molly stud kits are about $120 per side. A set of 10mm studs from a 100 Series cost about $25 per side. You will also need a 10mm drill and a M10 10mm X 1.5 Tap to cut new threads. PS. Dont think that the Troopy cant be made to keep up with your mates. Mine with about 4" lift, 37" tires on beadlock rims, winch front and rear, some extra barwork usually goes where others cant even though it lacks power. And that can be rectified with either a turbo or a supercharger.
Hey mate love the work you young boys do. Would like to see a few rig run downs or maybe mod vids. Maybe do one on the troopy diff build. Hopefully bump into guys on the tracks one day being a Bunyip local. 👍
That track your were on with the big off cambar boghole off exstons road in Kinglake that’s double is size there was a silver 80 series in it the other week and he was limi basher up it on 37” treps and it took him a few goes and where I was standing in the in bank ment u coulda stood on his roof it’s that deep now
the 1hz in the troopy although a good motor, isn't gonna cut for slippery stuff so i suggest you either strap a hairdryer to it or swap it out for the factory turbo
@@JS-tb9hu well when you go down a hill forwards, do you put it in low4 first gear and crawl? Yes. Same applies in reverse. It gives you more control. Last thing you want on a hill is the car turning sideways because you couldn't control it. Plus locking up the brakes on a muddy hill, no matter what direction, is bad because you'll usually pick up more speed.
Exactly. These boys need to join a 4WD club and get some basic training before they hurt themselves. But hey, I was a young bloke 50 years ago and it took me a long time before adult advice was regarded as something valuable, haha.
@@einfelder8262 yeah exactly. I'd hate to see one of them get hurt or worse. We've all been there. But it's the little things that will get you killed or damage you car.
Where's this track keen to give it a crack. Keen as for invites when you boys go out if got a 76 series that's pre solid with good mods and a shit load of boost and soot
Tough open diffs and a winch beats flimsy front diffs and big tyres. Toyota saved a lot of bikkies in the later front diffs and have sold millions in replacements. Good business model....
12:20 that was a bloody good drive by the 80!! 👌 Great throttle control and didn't back off. Love an 80 diesel on tap 💪❤️
Nice to see some decent polite young blokes having a good time , I see to many dickheads out there every weekend. Keep it up boys !

What's your experience with the maxxis bighorn 764 in 33x12.5xR15
Sam showing how its done once again

Then you have to change the gearbox too. In a Toyota upgrading anything means upgrading everything....
The problem isn't the engine it's already powerful enough the car needs proper tires and also good diffs
Would be keen to hit some tracks with you as I live in Toolangi
Quality content keep it up
See you sunday brutha
Did you all coordinate those speccy tight shorts on purpose?
The 80 makes it look easy, is it mainly down to the tyres?
Awesome vid. What’s the name of the track you’re on?
What size lift and tyres is Sam running?
Fergus 2inch and 35s
How much roughly did it cost to chop the 80
not bad good size!!

What if Jake's new car is a Suzuki Jimny?
Haha maybe my next one 🤣
Where did u get the bull bar for the 75
What locker did you order mate?
You guys need to learn to hook reverse when you don't make it up a hill. Safety first boys.
Another mint video by the way
Want do you mean by that?
