Seeing Randall, Ben, Sean, and Hunter was some real flashbacks. Looking at how much the shop has changed, and the struggles the FJ went through, pets, kids, just wow, all in three years.
Remember seeing this build from start to finish, and it's amazing. This car is exactly you, no bullshit, only efficiency, it doesn't lie, it shows exactly what it was building for. This FJ and the tow truck are my favorite builds you've made. Thanks for all !
Video proof here that Paul cut it, measured it, welded it, installed His axles, His engine engine, His transmission, with His money, out of the vision he had for this from His mind. Begone spiteful troll.
This morning I accidentally watched a video from 3 yrs ago that I hadn't seen & yes a big difference. The wife is way hotter , all concrete in the yard d , spray foam in the shop etc
Same. I've watched every single video from fab Rats. One of the VERY BEST productions on this platform thx to Mrs. Fab Rat and her long days staring at a screen editing to make a good show.
And another thing I have never seen one of these Land Cruisers until you guys started building one and now just about a month ago Madison Wisconsin that have been one is completely restored and one is getting restored they are pretty damn cool especially the one that is done completely stock condition
I lost my mother on April 3rd 2021. Watching this helped me get through that and the loss of our family home and seven dogs all within the span of a year! In 23 I was in an accident in the company truck right in front of our shop! Messed up my back and shoulder really bad! Now I'm going to have surgery to fuse my spine and rebuild my right shoulder! This video brought back a lot of memories watching the build and Paul as he evolved. When he broke his arm I too was all stuck with a cast! It's been a long good journey that I thank you for sharing with us! One of my bucket list items is to meet you guys and Merlin some day! Go team Fab Rats 😁👍
@LuckyBaldwin777 thank you very much and God bless! I'm still working, but it's getting harder each day. A friend of mine had his lower back fused and he's doing great so I'm hoping for a good outcome!
This is what I love about Paul he ain't scared to cut the frame. Most people panic about cutting a frame. Not Paul he's very confident in his ability to build that frame back stronger than it was. Just go for it
it's from his derby truck days! he was doing so many truck Derby's each year he'd go tear up the front clip and front frame rails and win a derby then go home and "Stub" the frame and cut a donor frame front graft the two together, take the front clip off the donor and be at the next derby the following weekend. I think after doing that a hundred times and seeing the abuse they would withstand gave him the confidence in his welds holding. I agree with everything you said many people freak out and over think welding a frame, as long as it is done correctly and are good welds it will last the life of the vehicle for sure
Yep, I hear that my dad was and grandfather are Master Woodworkers, not me. Cuz if you measure once and cut twice, ya can always welder up and try again, lmao
What a great build but what I got most of this video is how happy you made some stranger. You didnt know this guy at all but you put off vibes to him that made him trust in you from the beginning. He could tell that you would do something with that FJ that he was never able to do and you did. When you pulled up the driveway the smile on his face was genuine and after showing him what you did to it and taking him for a ride, well again the look on his face and the hug. He said you dont touch someone you dont like but you could tell he was as proud of you as any father to a child ever is.
The vision, drive, confidence, perseverance, and some even might have said, the audacity to partake on such a project/build like this YOTA FJ45, simply and elegantly sums it up for me, what a Mr. Paul Cox represents, surely is capable of, and is just all about! I tip my hat to you Sir! Awesome content, showing how the YOTA came to be and has evolved, in-line with your channels impressive rise. I especially enjoyed watching this one!!
On This Day in History. It takes time to build something cool 😎. I remember back when you were just starting RUclips and still had a regular job. I messaged you about putting a receiver on the back of my fifth wheel. You said to stop by. Life got in the way and I went back to trucking. But last month I finished installing the receiver on the fifth wheel. I like to think that watching you and Matt doing fabrication work convinced me that I could do it. I now own 2 welders, a plasma cutter and a whole lot more of metal working tools. So in the spring when I return from the Southwest, at 70 I’m going to start trying to teach myself how to MIG weld and since I bought the spool gun I want to do aluminum welding. Really enjoy your videos and bring everyone along with your family.
Hey Paul, I just wanted to say I appreciate all the time it took just to go through the videos and put this together. I haven’t missed the video since I started watching approximately four years ago. I can’t wait to see your final video for the On X build challenge.
This is one of your best videos of all time. Sometimes I think people sell you short but you built a heap into a great rig from scratch. I think I've seen all the build videos but it was great to see them in one place. Great job paul.
Just looking at what you were driving, looking at the driveway and shop, you should be very proud, you've come a long way, in a short time. Congratulations you've done well for you and your family. You and your family are what I like to call good humans.
I really liked this video! I watched all the other build videos, and after watching this one I had forgotten lots of the steps. Very well done, I hope you guys will do the same on Dad's wrecker, and the old Ratback.
Was a great video. But it also showed your kids growing, your skills improving, the shop growing and the people who you interacted and changing their lives. Stay true to yourself and your family and you will never fail. Thanks for the refresher
That old Toyota is yours and you have the right to do with it what you want. I personally would've liked to see a total restoration back to original, but the rock crawler did turn out awesome. You have turned it into a beast. The FabRats crew did a great job on this build.
This was one of the coolest videos i have ever watched...seeing the smiles of happiness makes me tear up, watching pauls amazing building....paul is right there with meeting richard petty
same with me its been awsome watching them grow..but what really made me a fan is even with their popularity growing quickly...they are still the exact same people....and its refreshing
This brings back memories of when I found your channel. Well I'd been watching for about month month in a half before you started the fj. But ya you have come a long long way since you started the fj. I believe the fj build what really made your channel what it is. Never change build stuff you like and don't worry about what others say. Always remember who you are and where you come from, that way you always stay ground.
I watched this build from start to finish way back when you did it and this was a cool recap brought back memories little things that you forgot that you watched this was awesome I appreciate it God bless 👍👍
Bringing new life to old iron is better than letting it rot in the field any day. You did a tasteful and fitting tribute to an off road legend just about anyone can appreciate. Enjoy it and thanks for sharing.
Nice to see a project start to end in one video. Amazing the upgrades to the shop and the growth of those boys. I'm certain Paul spent a lot of time laying in bed at night thinking about what/how to transform that old FJ into the rock crawler!
Wow....I forgot how long it has been. I started following you with the TACO build. You all have come such a long way and love watching it!! Love this FJ!!
Paul’s smile and farm build engineering brain shine in this video build Sad too see the final completed?? Paul’s FJ build Simply Brilliant !!! Final Editing of this Video is seamless hats off too the team 😎
Glad you did a total built review! Awesome seeing it all “combined”. Love your vision with the build(s), that’s what keeps me coming back. Wish I had your talent.
Loved it and you made a old timers day and kept your word. Boy it was different watching you all grow up and people come and go. You still have the best channel.
Wow... this video production was out of the ordinary for FabRats. First off, congratulations to whoever edited it, lots of work, good job. As a viewer who watched all of these milestones as they happened, I have to say that I thought this timeline of the actual technical build was very enjoyable to watch. What a killer rig. Makes me wanna build something awsesome. Thank you.
I've been watching since Papa Dars Jeep was being worked on. The Yota build has been my favorite, so this a nice recap. You should be proud of what you have built.
I watched every video in the series as you posted them, every frustration, redesign and innovation. Whatching this video sure made the build look like it went smoother, than I’m sure, it was. You should be very pleased with the work you have done and the rock eater you constructed.
The whole video was some really impressive editing especially taking more then one years worth of videos and putting it in a video of only a hour. ❤❤Respect to the editor. ❤
This is so damn satisfying to watch from start to finish. I get why purists would be mad, but you did this thing justice with your creativity. It’s just a better version haha.
This is your best RUclips video yet Paul . I’ve watched that build through all my throat cancer treatments and immunal therapy treatments and been told it’s in remission for now . Keep it up man.
Finally got the time to watch the entire vid. Have to say, this was one awesome compilation video! Hard to remember how much was actually done until you see it presented like this. Kudos to Michelle or whomever spent the time to go through the libraries and put this together. Great job!!! Thank you. Proud to be part of the greater FabRats community. (Oh, btw, I’m out of jerky! lol)
I’m 75 and this I know to be true in life: When the student is ready…the teacher will appear AND sometimes we are the student and sometimes we are the teacher!! 🧡 from Texas!
Oh yeah this brought back a lot of memories of this build and the amazing crawler she became. Watching all your friends in the video and the kids how they grew up during this build is awesome!
I love the FJ. Powerful and Reliable. All the modifications and workshops are awesome. Someday I hope to be able to build a vehicle with all the stuff I’ve learned from you. Thank you for sharing.
Great video Paul . A lifetime ago I was working for Mountain Bell Telephone in Wyoming and was doing an aerial drop repair and found a 2 A half cab in a back yard. I rang back the house and the lady sold it to me for $100.00 . Some times a blind squirrel finds a acorn.
Wow Paul, that was really fun! I was watching your channel before you actually started the FJ, and I sure enjoyed the recap today. Many thanks! (it was also really good to hear Hunter's voice again. Miss the dude. And the flash of Pappa Dar in his blonde wig was a big hit!
I have been watching your channel since you fixed an old welder from the junk yard. This compilation on the FJ had me smiling the whole way through with all the challenges and memories. I will always admire your tenacity and seeing your visions come to life. Thank you for sharing a small part of your life with us. I wish you and your family well. God speed. Keep up the great work.
I have been here since the start and I have watched every video that you put out. This video of the FJ (Yota) is awesome. I forget your first camera mans name, but I do miss him as he was one of the best. You have done some awesome projects. I am one of your Canadian viewers. I wish shipping wasn't so ridiculous so I could buy some of you're merch. Thanks for all your awesome videos.
I SO Love seeing the whole 9 yards of this lovely transformation of the old FJ - and that you brought it back to Billy's and not only put a big smile on his face, but also in his heart - for completing your goal - to a point where he Loved it - and You !! I have always enjoyed watching your work, your family, especially including Grandma Lolly, the Garage Cat, an also especially Uncle Merlin - including when he took your re-purposed lawn mower (hot rod) up the road to Lolly's at 40 mph. It's been a real pleasure seeing - also - your neighborly-community sharing with Matt's Off Road, Robby Layton, and more, plus even some rock-crawling fans & collaborators who have connected in and from Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and very probably many other neighborhoods. ... not to mention your lovely area geology and pure, simple Beauty ... wish I had escaped the northern Maine winters and trekked out to Utah, at least as long ago as 1997 - really ... I've done nearly all the mechanic work and rebuilding of all my own vehicles - all of which have been old clunkers, patched up with improvised materials and other old clunker "parts cars" ... You & Matt and the others just tripped the auto 'builders' lore into level for me into another whole other level, another breed indeed ... of course there are Zillions of us all over the planet doing some level or other of much the same Work and the Fun of it All ... BRAVO !!
The Fj is sick i remember when you started that project it was awesome seeing it come to life. Now you have to start the Jeepster i would love to see you and Michelle on the trails together....
I'm a 90s model Landcruiser man. Own 2 of them...and I gotta say! I'm just proud of you guys even though y'all halfway across the planet🙏🏾❤️ any Toyota truck 90s and older has soul
Wow. This video brought back so many memories. I cant believe how long ive been following the FabRats channel. I hope i can come by for a visit one day. Im building a 58 dodge truck back to stock, and i plan to take it on a road trip to visit some of my favorite automotive youtubers. You, Robby, and the channel who led me to you, Matt, will be on my must visit lists.
As you said in your closing, you learned something about how to treat people. You kept your promise to Mr. Con. And you made him proud. I'd say mission accomplished. Good on you! Love the channel. Be safe!
What a well done and edited video of all the footage of the build. Great to see the progression of the videos, family and shop. I loved each episode and this compilation was done in a fantastic way. Kudos to the editor! Thank you Fabrats for sharing and inspiring fabrication and builds!
Love seeing Bill enjoying the work you did on the FJ and seeing him all excited about it really makes it awesome. Pure or not it's your own and that's making it special. Love that old FJ.
Watching this build from the beginning to the end makes me appreciate your FJ all the much more. My old 73 FJ looked nothing like yours...but I did appreciate it. I 4 wheeled with it...rode the dunes with it and even rock crawled with it. Not the rock crawling that you and your friends do...of coarse...I did it back in the early to mid 70's. I rolled mine over 4 1/2 times...all on different occasions. I miss mine...wish I could afford another old one. Good luck with your Machine!
If I could choose one build that I’ve watched on RUclips for mine this would be it. This is my all-time favorite build favorite rock crawler favorite everything. It is such a cool truck.
Great video love it. I remember when Randall was working with you and so many people hated his voice lol. I almost forgot about him it's been a long time. Been watching for a long time keep it up great channel 👍
Good to see all the guys along the way and how much has Landon matured since this started. I watched it being built, repaired and modified along the way, great to see the whole process in one "refresher". Thanks guys.
That was a really good thing to do for that old guy. You are a man of your word and a genuinely good man. That is what my Dad was like and taught me to be the same. Im now 65 as of the 15th of this month. Promises made promises kept. Thank you
I personally appreciate you doing this retrospective of the FJ as I was unaware of the arc of this FJ Aquisition and build. Your video today filled in a lot of blanks for me and it really is a heartwarming story. I too had an old man who wanted me to have a classic car and that experience will live with me to the end. I too restored his car and showed him that I was a worthy recipient of his trust. Congratulations to you and to all of us who know the value of trust and the appreciation of classics in the car / truck culture. Good on you! 😊
A big well done to the editor that was an epic recut and paste! and to see the process as a complete piece this will be a firm fave for all of your viewers (and me) The end result was such a great outcome
This right here is one of the reasons I started watching you guys! It started with Matt's Offroad and then transitioned to you guys and then Robby came into the mix and well; it's just been a snowball effect lol. Follow you, Robby, Matt, Sean, Tom Tom, Ben, Rudy, Trevor, Jeffe' (I know I didn't spell it right lol). Love all you guys and have been watching for a long time now. Thanks for always sharing something new...well "Old" new! :)
That was fun! I enjoyed the flash back on what got me started watching your channel. Love seeing you guys grow and remain the humble loving family you've always been.
Thanks for the memories! I had bought my tow truck and was working on it as Paul was was doing the suspension on the FJ. I was watching him try and put the air bags on as I was chasing electrical gremlins on my truck I was getting particularly flusterated when he sat on it and the mounts gave way. I needed that laugh more than you know. Love the channel you all keep doing what you do.
I absolutely love this episode, I unfortunately was not aware of your channel during the build of the FJ45 and have only had the privilege of enjoying your videos for the past 12 months. Shop kittie and Scout as youngsters, and the growing up of your children only adds to the sheer delight of this episode! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! True dedicated fan!
Hay Paul loved the flashback I started watching you a little before been hook after that good to see how you an your family has grown your dad would proud of you keep do what your doing 👍
Paul, you are a master builder. Most all top shelf builders start just like you have. In the shop out back of the house. You have a god-given talent. Thanks for sharing your passion and your family.
If I wanted to see a "restoration" channel, that's what I would have subscribed to. THIS is what came for and subscribed for...fabrication, innovation, problem solving, vision and inspiration. You found the right platform for your ideas and just went for it. The personalities, family, friends and adventures are all bonus content and the reasons why this is my favourite channel.
I missed the very beginning of this build, hadn’t discovered Fabrats yet. Look how empty the shop was!! Anyway, I fell in love with the Yota first time I saw it. It’s my favorite build on any YT channel ever. I love the patina, the choices you guys made but most of all I love that it gets used and enjoyed. A close 2nd is the wrecker because it was built in memory of Grandpa Fabrat and it turned out amazing. These early videos were crazy good for a new channel but I think I just figured out why. I heard Michelle behind the camera, and ever so often she’d ask the question a viewer would want to know. So Paul was essentially having a conversation with his wife and it comes across on video as Paul talking to people he knows and is comfortable with. No awkwardness. Could have been Michelle’s awesome editing. lol anyway, thanks for the look back! Thank you for sharing what I missed all wrapped up in one video!
Seeing Randall, Ben, Sean, and Hunter was some real flashbacks. Looking at how much the shop has changed, and the struggles the FJ went through, pets, kids, just wow, all in three years.
Does American have Remembrance Day? Not soldiers but I remember the guys that helped Fab Rats.Just asking because I presented a wreath today
A Hunter update would be nice, if just a quick comment about he is doing. You know Randall is living his best life where ever he is.
@@billsargent3407 Hunter was on his dad's channel today. Sawdust and Lugnuts.
@@billsargent3407 Randle was cool. Hunter grew on me like a bilge rat!

Very kind of you indeed to place a wreath today, my friend! 👍
Remember seeing this build from start to finish, and it's amazing.
This car is exactly you, no bullshit, only efficiency, it doesn't lie, it shows exactly what it was building for.
This FJ and the tow truck are my favorite builds you've made.
Thanks for all !
You obviously don't watch Chads fab 😂😂😂 that is who did most all of FJ build.
Video proof here that Paul cut it, measured it, welded it, installed His axles, His engine engine, His transmission, with His money, out of the vision he had for this from His mind.
Begone spiteful troll.
@bruceb4349 video proof most of it done and redone by Chads fab.
FJ for the win. Its also so amazing to see how far you,the shop and the kids have come. Three years has made a HUGE difference!
This morning I accidentally watched a video from 3 yrs ago that I hadn't seen & yes a big difference. The wife is way hotter , all concrete in the yard d , spray foam in the shop etc
@@davestevens4263 Same people with this better opportunities!
It was nice flashing back to the past and seeing everything from kids, cats & Puppies growing up, to those involved that helped work on Your Yota
I’m happy to be able to say, I watched the whole build in real time. One of the coolest rigs on RUclips. 🔥
Thank you for being here from the beginning!

Watched them all as they came out up until a few weeks ago when I found this site called Porn hub. Now that I’m all dried out I’m back.
Agreed. I might have came in on Ep 2 or 3 but otherwise close to the beginning. It hooked me on this channel. (I own a TJ).

Best wishes for a complete recovery Michael. They have Many more builds to come, and the videos of just plain fun times tail riding.
Oh what a difference 3 and a half years makes. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea for this retrospective!
Super cool for you to take the time to make this video for us!!! Great build!! Love watching and thanks again!!
Look how clean the shop was when he first got the FJ he’s accumulated so much stuff since that build love it
Good memories. Thanks, Paul, and the Crew, past and present. That's a gem.
Sure enough brings back memories!
This rig is awesome! Really enjoyed going for a quick rip in it when we where working on Grind Hard's Humvee. Sure made me want to build one 😂
Loved having you here!
@FabRats When your Tacoma is back in action, maybe I should bring my Tacoma on tons down for some wheeling.
Honestly my all time favorite truck on RUclips
Wow Paul, that was really fun! I was watching your channel before you actually started the FJ, and I sure enjoyed the recap today. Many thanks! (it was also really good to hear Hunter's voice again. Miss the dude. And the flash of Pappa Dar in his blonde wig was a big hit!
It's amazing how much the shop has changed!
New to the channel. Love the truck, came out amazing.
Great Job Guys! Very professional editing job.
The FJ is my favorite vehicle on RUclips
Mine too until he built the tow truck. Now I'm not sure which I like better. lol
Congratulations on winning the Onyx Off-road Challenge!
Cool, been waiting to see the Ratlander in action. I saw the vehicles at SEMA, so i assumed they made it and nothing broke.
BRAVO !!
Congratulations Chads fab on building it for Paul. 😁..👍
The Fj is sick i remember when you started that project it was awesome seeing it come to life.
Now you have to start the Jeepster i would love to see you and Michelle on the trails together....
Pull up the video where you said you were gonna build your wife an awesome jeepster… Go back about 3 years🤦🏽🤣🤣🤣🤫🤫
I keep forgetting about the Jeepster
Jeepster is lame af anyway
It’s in progress, like many of my projects. 🤷♂️
Michelle is a beautiful lady, something tells me that rock crawler isn’t her thang. That’s cool, someone needs to make these boys look good.
😂😂😂😂
Glad youtube recommended this video otherwise may miss this piece of art 👍🏼
As a short-timer (1.5-2 years?) watching/following you & yours, this is a must-watch. Really appreciate you guys.
I’ve watched the fj45 playlist on repeat for years. It’s awesome having a single video to watch now. Favorite build so far.
I love the FJ, and I love the love beaming out of you when you are looking at it, driving it. Happiness personified.
What a story when it is all in one segment! And to see how far Fab Rats has come is really inspirational!
Still one of my favorite builds. Seeing it in person makes you appreciate it even more. Great work FabRats!
Thanks Paul and Michelle for the flashback build on that FJ...I think you all did a great job.
