As a young man, I'd ride my bike there and watch the planes. It used to blow me away how the Ransom and Piedmont Dash-7s would appear to hover as they lifted off on windy days. Then I learned to fly and got a job at NATIONAL flying charter out of the old Butler terminal at the North end of the field. Then I got a job flying Metro's out of NATIONAL for a small commuter. Then I took my little kids there to look see the planes. Then I got a job at one of the Big 3 and flew 727s,-737's-757's, and the Airbus out of there. Now I am a retired old man with a bunch of great memories. Love it.
Way back in the day, during summer vacations, I would ride my bike from the Ft. Myer main gate, past the Iwo Jima Memorial, along Arlington Nat. Cemetery, & along the Potomac till I got to Gravelly point & watch the action for hours, & ride back, never breaking a sweat. Not so much 35 years later.

I went here so many times in my life and I love watching the planes land
I was thrilled to see the landing of each flight one by one immediately.... Very interesting and nice spending too😊
I grew up in this area and every time I visit home, Gravelly Point is on my itinerary. Spent a LOT of time there in my youth.
As someone who lives near DCA, I know where my next planespotting video will take place at thanks

Good morning my friend
I worked at DCA for Delta back in 81 82 in January 82 i was one of the eyewitnesses to the Air Florida 737 crash
Please tell us about it.
i have been there but never recorded it. i plan to make a video about it next time
I wonder if any video exists of when a United airlines DC-10 landing at DCA.
👍👍👍
Hi, what time of day were these shots record? Thanks.
I hope they cleaned it up. I wouldn't allow our children out of the car, in the 80s.
What is that shit playing in the background? Mute.
