And that's exactly why I pulled up this vid; to reminisce back to the summers of '93 and '94. I'd go from Haines Point to Gravelly point chasing after 727s, MD-80s, 757s, Fokker 100s and Dash-7/8s. When exhausted, I'd walk all the way back to Union Station to catch the metro. Do it all again first thing in the morning. You come out of that chilly Union Station to a warm, pleasant D.C. air. Whilst facing the Capitol, you can hear the thunder of reverse thrust at National. I've got a lonnnng trek from here to the Point. May as well stop by the Air and Space Museum on the way...
@@rodmunch7278 those were the day, I had a day wear a 727 was landing just overhead at gravely point and as he was right over top of us, they executed a go around and my God it was like nothing I’ve ever felt before you could feel it in your whole body vibrating it was so loud
I love how one of the runways is so close to a parking lot. In the 1980's, when I lived in Colorado Springs, I'd make the 1 1/2 hour drive up to Stapleton Airport in Denver ,grab some food from a local reataurant , pull into the parking lot of an abandoned restaurant near the east/west runway and sit there for hours watching the planes. It was one of the most enjoyable memories of my life ; having met other aviation enthusiasts. Over time, HUNDREDS of people discovered this special spot, which made it heartbreaking when Stapleton closed, only to be replaced by Denver International. DIA is a beautiful terminal but I miss Stapleton ; it truly captured the beauty of aviation and in my heart, it can't be replaced.😢
Lovely footage captured and you always bring to all of us around the World best of the best masterpiece work and you rock it all again .. million thanks again from Montreal QC Canada
You were at Hains Point, and Graveley Point …cool… your shots from the south end will be history if the Caps/ Wizards get their new arena there. Years ago, a DC 10 had to make an emergency landing at National ( ran out of gas ). They claim upwards of 20k people clogged the area to watch it depart😂😂… cool video ❤
Those head on shots are just majestic, the mirage effect on the runway, LOVE IT!
Grew up 10min from there and loved going to gravely point and watch the planes. The old days were the best with the 727’s and MD-80’s

Oh my gosh, my home country! So glad you got to see the domestic planes I’m used to spotting! Even the regional jets sound like rockets around here!
I’m within about an 1 hour of DCA, IAD and BWI. I’m so glad to see my local airport being featured!
I love that you can see congress in the back of some of those landing clips. One of the best DCA videos I’ve seen, good job mate as expected
Even the monument at 13:05
I love the head on shots! With the very high bypass engines you can see the reverse thrust doors move from inside!
I love them too!
