I totally agree. The church that I've been to has always been stuck. I've just been trying to do things on my own.

This was a beautiful conversation. Thank you for the frank and authentic distillation of ideas that align with scripture. The most important point that dank home deeply, is the closing statement by Matthew i.e. change may not come in one's lifetime but all Good expected of us is to be faithful to the calling that He has instilled in us and trust that He will use our efforts/actions/application of our gifts, to accomplish His will, in the community/region/world that we live in.

This is by far the best conversation when it comes to modern Adventism. most Filipino culture adopted from Spanish and yes Catholic was our origin and most of us tend to look for our leaders as "Pope /Priest" as if we tend to follow what our leaders instead of actually personally do our ministry not being fed by the church leader.

We've heard the stories! Latinos and eastern european SDAs tend to be similar.

Yes the SDA church is a lot like her mother, the Roman Catholic Church.
Do you realize that Rabbis in the 1st century were not paid? That is the equivalent position of our modern day pastors.
The paid clergy is adopted from the Roman Catholic Church.
The Tithe even is adopted from the Roman Catholic Church in their council of Macon.
Jesus NEVER collected tithes neither did the Apostles.
So why do Adventists collect tithes, which Biblically were ONLY allotted to those of the Tribe of Levi and never to Rabbis or to the Apostles?
The favorite verse proclaimed every Sabbath "bring all the tithes into the storehouse" from Malachi, cannot adopted to the SDA church, which does not have the Biblical storehouse.
When will the SDAs stop requiring their people to tithe since those in ministry are not Levites?
When will they stop SELLING books, vs allowing people to get them free or for a donation that they can afford? We have no evidence of Jesus or the apostles ever selling anything. With all the extra funds in the stock market, these funds could better be spent giving out books & tracts for free. Remember we are told "Freely Give" because they have freely received.
Your churches have the "Lords Supper' quarterly. That is not biblical, but most likely after the custom of the Methodist church in which EGW was raised.
    Why Christmas?
This is not Biblical but borrowed DIRECTLY FROM ROME with all the pagan customs attached.

Is spiritual formation and the disciplines to Catholic for Adventists? We are all formed by something but I feel need to be intentional about it.
