      @hovigsarkissian6174 8 лет назад +2

      +locksh Not sure if your referring to Raster or Particle but ill give you the dish on both hehe. The raster is honestly one of the best pedals I've ever owned. Im a huge delay/pitch-shifting addict so this pedal pretty much is like heaven to me. Extremely musical especially when i activate the shifting to perfect fifths. Really adds a beautiful melodic and rhythmic layer over my notes. As for the Particle its a whole other universe. A lot of interesting and chaotic sounds. Even if some of the sounds are too crazy to use practically i just love sitting and messing around with it and hearing different textures. I recommend both as they each have their unique qualities and when activated together.. well ill just leave that to you to discover hah. I love having both.

    • @locksh
      @locksh 8 лет назад

      Hovig Sarkissian Wow, thanks for the thorough answer! I have been eyeing both of those fellas and have a hard time deciding which one I want more. Which one do you think I should get? I know there is no 'better' one because they are different beasts, just wondering what are your thoughts.

    • @hovigsarkissian6174
      @hovigsarkissian6174 8 лет назад

      +locksh Out of the two for myself i feel i get more out of the Raster. Its more usable and easier to manage or manipulate. I just love how melodic it turns my riffs into. And there are a lot of other sounds to discover to. But if your the more experimental type and want to just create the most bizarre sounds you can think of I'd probably go with Particle because it has alot more options and has the freeze function which is very handy in creating instant soundscapes. But i find myself just always switching on the Raster first. The only downside of the Ratser is i feel im very attached to it now lol and rely on it too much to create more melodic depth to my riffs or melodies instead of manually thinking of them myself. But i have to say it really does expand my creativity.

  • @legosmusic107
    @legosmusic107 8 лет назад +2

    Knobs, you really have the best pedal demos that show what a pedal can do for the modern musician. Thank you!
    I own the particle and love it oh so much. It is extremely unique. Although, I think it's immense sound manipulation capabilities make it more of a recording tool, verses something I could just throw into a pedal board chain. (i.e. It's knob parameters are very sensitive at certain degrees) If this thing had a few presets it would be a beast of a pedal.
    One thing to note though; on the pitch shifting modes, there is a slight time delay in your (dry) signal verses the (wet) pitch shifted signal. This poses the problem of staying in time if you want to use the pedal as a pitch shifter (wet signal is lagged).

    Having used both, what are the key differences you notice between this pedal and the Chase Bliss Mood? Are there applications or features where one pedal is more effective (in terms of control over parameters, sound, tweakability, approach, user interface, etc.)? I already have the Mood and I love it, but am also considering the Red Panda Particle. I am wondering how much overlap there is between the two pedals. I use the Mood to create ambient music (both live and recorded), sound effects/sound design, and film scores. I would probably use the Red Panda in a similar vein.

    Ordered this about a week ago as an Xmas present to myself-- supposed to be here in a couple of days. After watching this I can hardly wait. The variety here of both delay, pitch and randomness/glitch is just what I'm looking for, though it looks like it could take a while to master. It was a struggle deciding between the Particle and the MWFX Judder, which looks good too, and may be a future purchase, but my thinking is that the Particle perhaps has more "subtle" options, though there do seem to be some similarities. The Judder's "momentary" footswitch is a big plus, I would think it shouldn't be hard to mod the Particle to add one, if its insides aren't too cramped...

    • @jurimusic
      @jurimusic 8 лет назад +1

      I use my Particle with Electro-Harmonix Chillswitch (a momentary bypass looper) and it's a great combo for adding some momentary glitchy madness..

    • @Syncopator
      @Syncopator 8 лет назад

      ***** That looks like it would do it, thanks for the tip-- though I'm wondering why that can't just be done mechanically instead of with a powered box-- while it provides level controls and undoubtedly some signal buffering, there can't be much to that box. One can probably be made for less than the $45 it goes for, and by just building it into the Particle, it would be less to carry around. Though I suppose with the Chill Switch, you could readily concoct a more complex FX loop with a chain of all kinds of stuff in it, rather than just one effect, and it would be reconfigurable. And it seems to me I've seen another stompbox or two that provides FX send/return in addition to their usual function, so that may present an option or two as well...

    • @jurimusic
      @jurimusic 8 лет назад

      +Syncopator Best thing about the Chillswitch is that there's some kind of fade-in circuit in there. Basically it makes a really quick few milliseconds inaudible fade-in when you activate the effect. So, it doesn't 'pop' at all. I'm a DIY guy myself but quickly noticed that all mechanical momentary looper and killswitch designs make a really loud pop when you use them. It's not that big problem if you use a lot of distortion, but with clean sounds it's really annoying. Long story short, I was also sceptical about the Chillswitch but now I feel that it's really worth the money.

    • @Syncopator
      @Syncopator 8 лет назад

      ***** Good point. I've seen that eBay has cheap Chinese-made stomp-box switches for under $25, but you're right-- I spotted one as a kit where the schematic showed that the power was completely optional, it only controls a light that tells you which way it's switched-- completely passive, in effect-- where you're right, the click/pop potential could be an issue. Thanks for the tips-- I may pick up a Chill Switch, and at least, before I drill a hole in my Particle, I'll test a temporary switch hookup to see if it's going to make noise-- though my thinking is, a momentary switch in parallel with the existing switch might benefit from the same circuitry the existing switch would have which hopefully isn't going to pop...

    In most cases, I'm not really into multi effect pedal boards. I like to have different pedals and try to figure each one out because some of them are so complex that its like a whole other instrument. I feel like a lot of companies can't provide that in a single hardware consolidating many effects. I just thought that Knobs would do such a good job if they decided to make one.
    Also, saying "I love this channel" would be such an understatement so I just won't say anything more.

I was trying to find a cheaper and more portable version of clouds or the morphagene and don’t want to travel down the modular rabbithole so thought this would be a good compromise.

    Hola, tengo uno igual pero no funciona, sabes si es necesario ponerle una fuente de alimentacion que sea de 9v obligatoriamente? O vale con cualquiera?? Seria entonces problema del pedal?

    these demos are next level. great work, and much appreciated. here's a like *click*. What guitar/amp/speaker are you using in these vids? The tone going into the pedals always sounds just right for this kind of music.

    Are there any more tightly controlled settings? It seems pretty chaotic, which i like, but it kinda seems like cheating at making abstract music in a way. Very lovely sounds, regardless.

    Would be cool if it had an extra out for stereo-clumpification. Also, what does an expression pedal do with this?

      +mrblablablabla Expression pedal can be assigned to either the delay/pitch knob or the param knob.

      The M-Gear Exp was used for the demo.
      Cause it's mad cheap.
      Can confirm the Moog works as well (as well as a slew of others surely).

    hey knobs, can I use the chop with the detune effect to make it a like a smooth vhs tape simulator? something like the lo-fi junky or the generation loss?
