THANK YOUUUUUUUU. I can't handle how many demo videos are just playing with no actual explanation. Y'all are the best, so excited to try this out for the first time this weekend.
Awesome. Have needed this video manual for a while now. I always struggled with the looping and tended to use it in live mode. Thank you very much. Awesome pedal. So easy to get musical variability in what you are playing.
Excellent demo and instruction video, exactly what is needed for the Tensor. Really appreciate the detailed, no nonsense explanation for each function, with sound samples.
for tensor 2, i'd love to see a longer buffer (or a halftime buffer mode), front panel presets, and random being replaced with a s&h LFO with variable depth and slew
Fair to say the tensor is not a delay pedal, it’s a loop pedal almost a micro looper with many different capabilities like reverse tape stops in live playing which is very awesome. It has the ability to get some delay like qualities because it’s a shorter loop 9.4 seconds mono and 4.7 mono. However I don’t think you can compare a delay modeler with a looper with some delay capabilities in my humble opinion they are so different maybe other than price. The DL4 is amazing and was one of the most influential modeler delay pedals on the market. I just have a hard time drawing any comparison in form factor and use case.
I purchased this over the holiday break. At 1:39 on the tape speed section you mention turning the knob from noon to counter clock wise to the left makes the sound reversed. I'm not getting that. The sound continues to go slow down and pitch lower. I'm using a guitar. Any tips? EDIT: Turns out having an expression pedal into the CTRL jack disables this function.
It works with an expression pedal, too. With the settings shown at 1:45, your expression pedal should go from forward (heel) to stop (middle) to reverse (toe down). If it does not cover the full range, check the output range knob on your expression pedal (if it has one). You may need to calibrate the expression pedal range, and if that does not help use the contact form on our web site and let us know what expression pedal you have. An expression pedal, by default, will morph from normal playback (heel down) to the knob settings (toe down). You also can assign the expression pedal to any combination of knobs with different ranges, as shown here (with Particle, but the process is the same for all our pedals): ruclips.net/video/FtAL2oS3CE8/видео.html
Guys, does that pedal allow to record a sound ONLY while momentary switch is being pressed down?? And then replay that sound with many various smooth cross fading options available. Also reverse replay and other cool tricks would be a bonus. Does this pedal do all that?? Big thanks!!
Yes! Tensor is always listening, so you can go straight from bypass to recording a loop with whatever direction, time stretch, and pitch settings you want. Setting left footswitch toggle to momentary (M) will record only while the switch is held down. The loop direction can be forward, reverse, or alternating and the crossfade is handled automatically. The owner's explains all of the different tricks, most can be used for both loops and real-time. If you have something very specific you're looking to do, please email us with details and we can give a more specific answer. It's hard to point to an example without more info, because the Tensor can do a lot so each musician can find their own way to use it.
Not gonna lie, this pedal equally fascinates and scares me. I love what other people can do with it but I wonder how much I would be able to get out of it.
wondering if anyone else has experienced this..... the knobs on my tensor don't go fully clockwise or something, meaning the speed knob at fully CW is just under 100% (so any loops are out of tune) and the blend knob at fully CW is under 100% (so always a bit of clean signal coming through) the same for pitch and time even with going on the web editor to adjust the knob parameters, after they've been set and the refresh has been clicked, they return to their previous positions I left a support ticket on the Red Panda website seven weeks ago but no response yet obviously this is a fantastic pedal and am very keen for it to work as intended, if you have any ideas on how to solve this I would love to hear them!
Sorry if we missed your email--this doesn't sound normal--if you still haven't heard back from us, please send us an email again! There may have been an error and we can work it out with you there.
So in NXT mode u first have to record the first loop and then tensor records other loops automatically??? I don’t get it... please clarify. Cheers beers ❤
NXT mode alternates between two buffers, recording into one whilst playing the previous buffer. Typically you would set the buffer length to something like a beat or a measure, then you can do effects like time compression that are not possible in realtime. We have a NXT mode video in the queue...
It would also be good to have a mode that allows much longer loop time. 10sec is very constraining. Btw how many overdubs can be stacked in total ?? Thnx❤
Tensor allows unlimited overdubbing, but no undo/redo. The "loop decay" parameter (adjustable via web editor, TouchOSC, MIDI CC) controls how quickly older overdubs fade out.
Yes, all effects except for time compression are available live or while looping. Time stretch is available live, but time compression requires looping or buffering because it cannot see the future.
I wish I could find a video that shows what the firmware update does.. I just bought one from a friend and have no idea which one it is, waiting in the mail still.
Tensors built since mid-2019 and with the latest firmware can be configured for stereo I/O using the web editor. You can use an insert cable (dual TS to TRS) to merge left and right channels from your synth into the Tensor. More details on stereo connections are here in our Knowledge Base: support.redpandalab.com/support/solutions/articles/43000586536-stereo-pedal-connections
The version numbers are confusing, but the Tensor was the first pedal built on our current generation of hardware. The "V1" versions of our other pedals used different hardware, so the Tensor matches up with "V2" versions of our other pedals. We will continue to improve the Tensor with free firmware updates.

This is hands down the best pedal ever created thus far.
Can’t wait to get this pedal!! Excellent video. Narrator has a really great voice!!

Tensor has a mind of its own....very welcome on my board! Thanks, Red Panda!
Dang. I might need this. Not even close to fully exploring my Particle 2. But dang.
looks like ramen is in my future.
1:44 sounds very similar to the intro to “Where’d all the time go?” by Dr. Dog!
Dude it is!

The glitchiness is incredible. I like how the DL4 has more options to tweak the delay though. You can get some really cool stuttering and warbling.

Hey Bill Frissel! I think you need this for Christmas. Drop by my house.... it's all gift wrapped..
This is great -- thank you very much. I adore my Tensor and this helped me understand the NXT mode.
This pedal is so powerful and musical. Need practice! ❤️

Wow, you guys really seem like a solid company. Nice to see these responses.
I look forward to getting into the red panda universe.
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing.
I needed this refresher. Nice!
time to get back on my tensor
Love the Dr. Dog riff!
I finally got one and I'm intimidated to plug it in 😢

@@redpandalab thank you I'm in touch with someone at the moment and we're sorting it out, starting with the power supply
Playing mine right now ❤️
Can this work in real time? Or do you have to record a loop?
THE WEB-EDITOR DOESNT CHANGING THE IN/OUT MODES, THE PEDAL IS STUCK IN MONO IN/MONO OUT.
PLEASE HELP.

Wish I could update my first generation tensor to get the longer loop time.

whens the v2 coming!?!?!?
Tensor was our first ARM-based pedal. It is the same generation as the "V2" versions of our other pedals.
Dr dog for the win
Thanks
Can we get a stereo version of this please? Would be great for using with synths.

Totally do not understand this pedal. Gotta do the RUclips rounds on it.
NO STEREO CAPABILITY.
Not true. You just need a TRS cable to gain access to both stereo ins and outs.
@@TheScreamingFrog916 Not true. This thing doesn't change it's in/out settings to stereo, it just can't stereo, at least my revision.
Long overdue, thank you!
