The "guy" in the 1989 film where you said it looks like the punches are connecting is the late great Terry Funk, who knowing that crazy old horse probably told them to lay it in when it comes to the punches, also I'm glad to hear Eric Linden get a mention, he has done a lot for stunt recognition on Corridor Crew's channel where they have stuntman and stuntwomen appear to react to films, Eric is the guy that channel contacts to get the stunt people on.

I'm very much in your camp with regard to re-makes. I do think Jake Gyllenhaal is a very good actor but even he won't entice me to see this movie.
Excellent work on this video and looking forward to the dissection of John Wayne screen fights already. Keep up the great work!

Strangely, I didn't really notice the CGI. That being said, in the remake, I just didn't feel "connected." Perhaps the CG is why?

Put me in the first Road House is better club. The CGI was immediately jarring to me but even with that the first film has far better characters and is a more enjoyable watch. I look forward to the weekly videos on this channel and as a big John Wayne fan I can't wait for next week's video.

I always thought those action scenes where the hero lays out 4 or 5 heavies is a load of rubbish. In real life the thugs would attack mob handed and not fight individually, especially when they see their mates being hammered. Gyllenhall did this film purely for his ego, money and a possible sequel guarantee. Can't wait to see Yakima next time up.

The Wages of Fear (1953) remake as Sorcerer (1977) is just as good or better than the original. Sad that Sorcerer was released around the same time as Star Wars
