Thank you so much for inviting me to take part in your film journey series, Nathan. It's always such a joy to sit and chat with you and you're the most gracious host and a wonderful human. I'm so happy to see you back in the RUclips space and I look forward to seeing what you share with us next. Love you, my dear friend. 🙏❤
Very interesting and fun discussion! I don't know that much about New Jersey beyond what I've seen in movies/shows, but I'm a huge fan of the Sopranos, and I'm glad it was mentioned in the chat. And as a huge hockey fan and a passionate NHL follower, I of course know about the New Jersey Devils. I can also relate to growing up and living in a place where there is nothing cultural going on.
Thanks for being here, pal! I'm glad to see NJ having some excellent ties into what you're passionate about. Speaking of hockey, I'll be going to my first NHL match in December!
So nice seeing two of my favorite RUclipsrs in conversation! If Stephanie considers herself a "fossil", then I qualify as an ancient mummy from the Ice Age! Both of you talked about the era of one-screen theaters. I go all the way back to the 1950s, so I know that era very well. I remember standing in long lines to see movies. We lined up all the way around the block to see The Exorcist in the dead of winter. A few years later, we lined up for two blocks to see Star Wars. It was just normal, so I didn't think anything about it. One major thing about that era: we weren't overwhelmed with choices like we are now. In a way, I think we did cherish things a little more, because going out to see a new movie was an event and a communal experience. Besides, in the 50s and 60s, if you missed seeing a movie at the theater, you probably wouldn't have a chance to see it again, unless it showed up on TV many years down the road. As much as I love being able to collect films, there are many things about that old world that I would go back to in a heartbeat. I was surprised when Stephanie showed SILENT SCREAM, which is an important film for us diehard fans of Barbara Steele, who gives an amazing performance near the end of the film. I remember seeing it in the theater in 1980.
Appreciate you being here, Mike. And love hearing about the era of what was, especially in terms of communal experiences. Yesteryear had so many wonderful things that should be appreciated more.
Great discussion. I really enjoyed it. Except the part where y'all pretend you'd be okay without limited editions. Who among us could live without art cards?😄
My heart was so happy to see both of your faces on the thumbnail of this video as I was scrolling on RUclips. Great video! I own volume 2 of season 10 of Gunsmoke because Jean Arthur guest stars in one episode. Ha ha! I really enjoyed learning new things about you both and what shaped you into the people you are today. Thanks Stephanie for sharing some of your story, it was very enlightening and inspiring. Love this series idea Nathan!
Great to see you two on a video. Orbit has been killing it with preorders. I have three orders waiting (7 discs) and I love it. We have had the same huge lack of diversity here in WV. To this day it is difficult to see an art house film. We have a small theater in Charleston that offers a few each month.
Cheers pal! I feel the same way in Missouri, not much going on in general. Thankfully we've got this medium that has been such a treat for us who want to explore the world and the stories on it 🤘
However, my mom keeps telling me I'm going to hit the lottery. 😂😂 When that happens, you'll know because I plan to open an animal sanctuary and a wonderful cultural center. 😀💞

As always, you're one of my absolute favorite people here and I couldn't be happier just getting to chat with you Steph. Love you right back ❤️

Fascinating.

Unlimited art cards for everyone!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks, Steve. You're the best. ❤️

If there’s nothing going on culturally in your town then perhaps you could start one?
Hi friend. That's why I started my RUclips channel 😀😀
