2019 this guy is a bumm just as I predicted, we passed on Deshaun Watson who put up great numbers at Clemson on nfl style defense when facing Alabama twice, and passed on Mahomeboy for a 9 game starter who's the screen king in the nfl. Ijs Cade McNown, Rex Grossman, Jay Cutler we don't make good decisions when it comes to quarterbacks.

    • @romiarkan450

Drafting a QB who had only played 13 games in college is just risky. Regardless of how good they are, there's just not that much film yet, not enough sample to judge them. Pat Mahomes was Texas Tech's QB1 for two years and had played games before getting the starting job. So was Deshaun Watson at Clemson.

Most of the hype on Trubisky was caused by a Cleveland sportswriter . The Chicago team bought into the hype. Pat Mahomet was the favorite QB and Kansas City jumped in front of the Browns to draft him. Then the team used their plan b and drafted Kizer after picking up a first round draft pick for next year .

One year later, the Bears look GREAT for getting Trubisky. Bear fans would have HATED Darnold and Rosen; we could have gotten behind Mayfield, and we would have looked sideways at Allen. But we LOVE Trubisky like a son. A lot of people like Watson, but the bears #1 problem was accuracy, and Watson is not nearly the accurate thrower Mitch is.

You know who would be okay with the Bears' move? How about:
The Chargers trading a 2, future 1 and two players for Ryan Leaf
The Giants trading a 3, future 1 and future 5 for Eli
    The Redskins trading a 2, 5, two future 1s and a future 3 for RG3
The Rams trading two 2s, a 3, future 1 and 3 for Goff
The Bears gave up a 3, 4, and future 3. Even if no one else was talking to Lynch, they paid an inexpensive price to avoid the risk of losing their guy.

I don't see what the big deal is really. They only really gave up a 3rd next year to get him, because they traded back in later rounds. No matter what draft value chart you look at it's about equal in value to both teams. You want to talk about teams who got fleeced? Houston? Kansas City? They gave up way more for lesser QBs (Watson and Mahomes.)

It was a master move by Pace. The Bears had several teams contact them to move up Those teams would ONLY do that for a franchise QB especially in a year with deep talent. The Bears gave up LESS than any team to move up and get the first QB in a draft, It doesn't matter how many spots you move up if you get the guy you want and Mitch, was their guy. will he be great? Time will tell but 2 AFC scouts have said he has the BEST attributes of any QB in the last 6 years.

I remember when Giants fans complained about how much the Giants had to give up in order to trade with the Chargers to get Eli Manning. It included two 1st's, a 3rd and a 5th, which turned into Phil Rivers. Shawn Merriman, Nate Kaeding and essentially Roman Oben. The Giants won two Superbowls to the Chargers zero. No one is complaining now, except the Eagles.

Like there are no finalities, so to put a guy down before he makes his first start is a bit premature, no? I honestly feel that there is no amount of college statistics that will be able to quantify a person's future successes or failures. I agree that this gamble was very high risk, but each player's chances to be the next best thing are still 50/50, like every other person in any draft. It depends on the player himself and the environment he is put in and whether or not he has the ability to overcome adversity and rise above it.

  • @PaulGaither

There is a reason Eric is on TV and doesn't have a job in the NFL anymore. The morons in the 49ers front office tried him out for a season or two and cut ties as well. However, it was funny when he shut everyone up and shut the conversation down with the Revis comment. He should have led with that.

  • @Lone_Wolf_Media

If the God forsaken Browns traded up from #12 to #2 to take Mitch, everyone would've given them a standing ovation, because Mitch Trubisky is an accurate passer who's also pretty mobile. He also had 5 TDs for every interception in his final college season. If Mitch had another year of experience, he'd be the consensus #1 overall pick, and every QB needy team would be itching to get him. If, say, the Jets or the Chiefs were able to draft him, everyone would automatically conclude that he's a future Hall of Famer. So, why did Ryan Pace trade up? So Mitch could be successful with the Bears, who are going to have a ton of offensive weapons to work with in the next two seasons. Why does everyone hate him for it? Because they don't understand his draft methodology. Like it or not, Pace's draft strategy looks for long term, franchise solutions to positions. But, people are just too short sighted and view the draft process from the standpoint of "get more wins now". People forget that the majority of the games the Bears lost last season were by a TD or less, and more points could've been scored if not for all the injured players. Once this team is healthy, has a solid offense and defense, and most importantly, a developed Trubisky, people are going to see how wrong they were about the Chicago Bears.
