100% ZERO disrespect toward X or his fanbase.
I hope and pray that if you are going through depression that this project helps you sustain and overcome.
My thoughts in this video are genuine and given with no ill intent as I feel this was a poorly executed first album. I hope you enjoy this project and fuck my thoughts if you did, keep enjoying it.
Shawn Cee He had a good message, some songs had good production, it's just his lyrical ability just can't match, honestly a 4/10 imo. I did like Jocelyn and Orlando. But the rest was meh.
Guess a mumble rapper who says the same shit is gonna have A better album then X. Ain't that funny.
Shawn Cee man u great... i love ur acting and how u explain ur opinion... it makes things so clean and understandable that i just have to argee as an no x fan😍
yeah i definitely agree with your opinion i got out more from this id give the album a strong 5 but its weak for an album id say its more a mixtape then an album and way to short but x definitely has talent
Ur such a dope dude man keep it up 🤙
I hope everybody can agree that Jocelyn Flores is a beautiful song.
Ollie11 its my favorite song on the album tbh
Ollie11 it was the only song that felt complete to me tbh
Ollie11 Jocelyn is the song that felt complete, Carry On was almost there, and Nightmares should've been longer, it's not like X can't switch flows
ERBOCH Sadly both songs are sampled and bot even truly his. They are remixes smh.
nothing wrong with samples, 90% of hip hop music uses sampling
How to make Shawn Cee like your song:
1. Make a song
2. Switch your flow

Album named 17 because it would been his last year until he commits suicide. X: "When I turned 13, my wish was to be dead at the age of 18". Album was produced this way because it was to show how he felt at the age of 17, emotions are everywhere and depression and anxiety can really effect how you're feeling so quickly.

Depression never truly goes away, therefor the only way to cope is to eventually become numb to it. This album does help its always a horrible feeling of faking a smile all day and going home to sleep alone and be in that sad state. This album helps to fill a void ive had to struggle with for the past year since august 27 of last year. This album isnt for everyone, but for those who are truly depressed, this does help.

I feel like this album is more geared towards adolescents that are trying to find themselves and trying to escape their depression more than people who aren't depressed and have found themselves. The first time I heard Trippie Redd I didn't think he sounded like Lil Uzi Vert. It's so easy to hear the difference, like how are people saying he 100% sounds like Lil Uzi Vert. I don't get it man. Both are fantastic artists, but it is so clear to me how they both differ in both an artistic view and how they both sound.
Sn00p 0g He sound like uzi dawg
He really doesn't though.
Sn00p 0g agreed, idk how you can't hear the difference. they have a lot similarities but I think it's pretty easy to tell the difference
idk man maybe my ears are fucked :(
I can tell the difference but it still sounds the same. Just because they sound similar doesn't mean they can't be differentiated. It 100% sounds exactly like Uzi. It wouldn't be so commonly said it wasn't grounded in at least *some* truth.

I’m gonna have to disagree with the generic comments on basis that X is a RAPPER, not a movie, not a typical R&B singer or anything. That’s why this isn’t generic, because X can have the versatility to connect with so many demographics and I understand your comments. I know I’m late and I hope his legacy lives on forever.
R.I.P. X
Epic Michael what are you trying?
Wise words brother.. 👏👏
The connection to a wide demographic doesn't lie majorly in X's versatility, it lies in depression being universal, whether it's the mood or the mental illness. The production on 17 might not be generic, but it's very one-dimensional and lazy. Not only that, but the lyrics are extremely surface level and fake deep that they are more cringey than poetic.
"?" definitely explores many more different musical genres, and it does have varied production styles. If we're talking about 17, though, most of the beats you could have found in lo-fi compilations, as well as on other artists' projects.
If you are looking at this album objectively, you're going to hate it. If you're depressed or sad, chances are you might like it. That's why he told us, this is for the people who are depressed. Not an album that you can just listen to without being in the mood.
Bedcorn I can name a shit ton of albums centred around depression better than this trash lmao
Owen Horecny name them I genuinely wanna hear albums

The thing is that in most cases depression is kinda cheezy, that's why many people don't take it seriously: "it's just a phase" or "you want attention" they say, while you feel like utter shit and in most cases you don't really see the point in living anymore.
I love the effort you put into the cover lmao 👌🏾

I feel like if X wanted to help with depression is to look at Kid Cudi's Man on the Moon: End of Day or similar to that. I agree with Shawn saying that depressed music doesn't help with depression. Kid Cudi helped me with feelings like that he has the right words, beats and puts the album in a way where it takes you on a trip and tells a story to help you with things like depression. I believe X just had to get a bigger grasp to make this album better. Kid Cudi is the best example of an album to help with this stuff.
X is better than kid cudi tbh. 17 is better than anything cudi has released imo.
my 2 fav singers are cudi and x . both are goats
Someone has never listened to Joy Division…
I have no idea how you disliked “F*** Love” it was such a good track!
i love how artists aren't sticking strictly towards rap / hip hop i feel like they're trying to put people onto different genres it's cool
YOU GIVE THIS A 10 BUT DAMN A 7... wait wrong channel
I just really love the samples he used, shilohdnasty is a loop god
I really think X needs to really sit down with himself and find a way to express his emotions with more depth. The lyrics on this are so generic that it makes it seem like he's romanticizing suicide/depression and I don't think that's what he wants to do. I can't speak for everyone who suffers from it, but for me personally, it in no way makes me feel better. I can somewhat connect with it, but not on the emotional level he's trying to convey.
N huge facts
Disagree but no disrespect
N maybe his experience was different than yours.
N Jocelyn Flores is the only really genuine song on here is how I feel.
I mean it is HIS story...
Garretes revenge was my favorite song for about like 3 weeks at one point
2:40, too bad he will never become an RNB singer, 😭🤧😪😥😢😭, still can’t believe he gone, RIP
17 literally classified as R&B
He already made r&b music before get ur facts str8
He deadass got the award for best ebb album of 2017
He was a R&B singer that's why he got nominated the best R&B singer 2018
I honestly Connor tell if this is a meme or not
Carry on slaps
As a manic depressant his music def helps me alot. If you think of depression like arthritis this music allows people to message the mood away. Should also be noted that X is aiming for a Nirvana type fanbase hes filling a lane that Nobody is driving in right now. But he has the ability to switch lanes at will and his next album Bad Vibes will be his hype side.
The second song is hands down the best song

i personally didn't enjoy the album because to me, it felt like some chill music with depressing lyrics sprinkled in. I appreciate that he stepped up his production but that still doesn't change the fact that most of this album is bland with some pretty good vocals. I may not have been in the right mindset when listening, but my opinion still stands.
*100% agree*
carbon-based lifeform he stepped up production in some songs but in others it sounds like it was recorded in the garage
the whole album was for people with depression, plus for a friend that suicided in his hotel. (The friends age was 17, which is why the album is named 17.)

As someone who actually has to deal with clinical depression and have tried to take there own life before, music like this does nothing to help, I don't get why artists always think to help people like me who suffer from depression have to make there music depressing, it does nothing but make them feel more like shit an doesn't help in the slightest. And especially this album witch is going to nothing but hurt his core audience
Dmetrius March Music is mostly defined by its sound and, if the sound is mad depressing, then that overpowers the lyrics imo
Ian Vanya he's not just making it to help depressions music is art, art is from the mind and where your thoughts are at if somebody you were talking to killed thereself in your hotel room you would feel the same exact way
Ian Vanya should've taken it
CreepsOn Fire No I get that, I completely under x and how this album was his way of finding relief and copeing with her death, but he advertised this album to his fans that are dealing with the same mental issues he is and in my personal opinion I don't think this album will help those people
*then you've never been "depressed"*
"Is lil uzi vert under a new name now" exact same thought when i first heard it lol

this is the first time ever i have felt that you sound like a hater. "i gotta admit, i like it" just shows that you are actually trying not to like it.
this project was incredible imo
Kieran Ive the last project from x he listened to he wasn’t impressed so he walked in with a lowered expectation
Kieran Ive he has a opinion different from you so that makes him a hater.
as an X enjoyer, i kinda agree. the album is way too short. with the album length of 20 minutes, it would be very difficult for X to articulate and express more of what he’s feeling. something that he could elaborate more or go in depth, on 17 he didn’t do that. he stayed more in the shallow area on this project. on top of that, some of the songs are just him singing (not even his best singing) over some basic acoustics.
with the shallow lyrics he has given us, the only thing he can make it up is the sound, but the sound isn’t that good on a couple tracks here. however i did enjoy more than shawn or fantano did. i don’t hate it or love it, not good or terrible, 4-5/10 for me.
I absolutely adore this album but not really for the reason he wants me to. It made me really question things and how I view certain aspects of life but I don't find it comforting. It was a challenge for me because it made me deal with stuff I usually try to ignore. But that's why I love it and will always love it. After listening to it a the first few times I stopped listening to X compeletely for a few months because I was in a bad place and simply tried to ignore all the negativity in my head. It got to the point where I left the room when someone played his music because it reminded me of the things I didn't want to deal with. But a few weeks before his death, I was in a better place mentally and decided to push myself to listen to it again. This time it felt ok, it was kind of hard but it contributed a lot to me finally dealing with all the shit. But then he died. And I became obsessed with this album. It was the only thing I listened to for almost two months and I broke down crying a few times. I guess I just connect a lot of personal stuff with this album, I went through a lot whilst listening (and actively not listening) to this album and it might sound stupid to feel so strongly for an album but it represents a whole period in my life, from me becoming unhappy and toxic to me trying to change and learn to deal with my emotions in a more healthy way. I can't say that this made me depressed or cured my depression but it did play a big part in my life, more than any album ever has and maybe ever will and all I wanted to say is, thank you.
Listening to depressing music does help you overcome with it cos u can relate to it and it helps u cope tho.
I love 17 because as of right now I'm a depressed mess thank you X ❤️
Orlando & Ayala really needed more recognition
i mean this was just a kid putting himself out there. he wasn’t tryna impress nobody it’s just the world had it’s eyes on him cuh he was gifted fr.
If he wanted to dive into his thoughts he shouldve actually rapped about some deep subject matter and not repeat the same line multiple times in a song. The album seems so rushed, he raps about stuff that a 12 year old could think of when he loses a game of minecraft
TheNewAc 18 I agree. should've held off. a few good songs but I'd rather he held off and make the album more "whole."
