If you want it on PC mods are completely free so the best thing to do is sign up for steam, download the steam client, go on a website called G2A, search Fable Anniversary in G2A it's like $15 from most, enter your payment option (PayPal, Visa, etc.) you will get a item in your steam inventory, accept the gift, and download the game. Then when you download it, search up DLC for fable anniversary and get the free dlc and it will let you get mods! To get mods hit the green subscribe button on the mods page! However the game still looks pretty. The HD remake however looks bad. Like really bad. It just doesn't have the flare of the original.

@@CanadianPolybius Exactly. I love how the technical guys always fail to understand that aesthetics don't always rely on better advancements. Fable (TLC) The one damn game that didn't need to have HD Remake since everything was perfect. High framerate, 1080p support and still quite awesome graphics with that gloomy feel of everything. Im always enthousiastic about remakes since it freshens up not only graphics but gameplay mechanics as well and overall feeling of smoothness. Yet this remake is one I will not buy unless its 5 bucks on steam sale. I did buy the Metro Redux Bundle so im excited to see how they managed to tweak Metro 2033. Last light is a little bit useless since its already fine as it is.
Why set it to crappy 360 standard? Xbox One standard is already way too low! Sure its a HD remake, it still looks 8-7 years old? Isn't the point of a HD remake to actually achieve 1080p at a smooth framerate of 60?
Ive always loved fable one and have played it over and over many times in 6 years, never played any of the new ones though cause they did not appeal to me, when i saw today that this is coming to pc in a week i was pretty excited, but now looking at the difference i honestly prefer the old version ... Dont really know why
I'm looking forward to this on steam finally, Loved playing FLC, however with no real controller support, the game is a bit of a pain in the ass to play on mouse/keyboard. That said the modding community will clean this up further so stop complaining about faces.
I honestly enjoyed this game, sure they changed a lot in it. Especially the control set up and also the interface, but I learned to deal with it. This game brought me back to my childhood. Fable will always be one of my favorite games. Just enjoy the game.
This is a remake, those were remasters. Can't wait to replay this game with new graphics though and to finally complete my Trilogy for the xbox360.The xbox logo on the old versions stands out too much.
TheRealDeal In that case, I am glad they put a lot of effort into making this a remake instead of just making it a quick cash like all those remasters. They could easily have made this into another remaster, but this shows they are really passionate about the franchise. Unlike the RE4 "rerelease" that looks exactly the same.
***** fable had faults but was very ahead of its time and is critically one of the best rpgs of the original xbox. and personally one of my favourite games of all time the story and everything is so unique in its own right making fable such an awesome game. ive played alot rpgs an theres just something about the original fable that differs from the rest its just a beautiful game fucken love it. fable is so much better then jade empire and morrowind
And interesting game considering the gap between the original Xbox and 360 was the same time period from the XO to the XO one x. A lot of progress was made between 2001-2005 in terms of computing. Where as now it’s basically just minor upgrades in resolution.
I dunno, some things look better - but a lot of it it, especialy the expresion on the charachters, are a lot better in the original in my opinion! I mean, look at them! They ain't got any sort of expresion! It's like looknig at a bad puppeteer! The eyes are nice and glossy like a dools, their eyes doesn't move, their eylids doesn't move... The only thing better is the mouth, which only serve to further point out the souless expresions of the remake. :S And the updated look on the main charachter... they BOTH look wierd. But atleast the older on looks wierd because that was their old design idea acroos the board. The newer one just looks... ugh... Creppy! XD As if you took Chucky's face and blended it with supperman, and then took Gizmos eyes! :P The surroundings is a hit or miss for me. The darker tone is a bit "Meh" for me personaly. I liked, and looking at it, still liek the brighter world. Except for the part in the old sanctuary - I think they really improved on the contrast between the darker walls and the brighter colored windows. :) Perhaps I am just stuck with my memories of playing this as a kid - but judging by this side-by-side, I feel the older one to have more life to it than the new one. If I were given this preview a long time ago, I still think I'd go for the older one. :)
definitely one of the better looking games for the xbox. The thing I loved most about fable was it's bright colors and the contrasting darkness that lurks within the game.
Wth happened to the light director? Majority of faces look backlit or in the shade. Not sure if it's from where the QuickTime events start, but that bald feller was not lit well. I prefer the original's saturated colors, things popped out and looked adventurous. New version looks like Demon's Souls dreary.
Is it just me that feels that the 360 version makes the game look much darker? I personally don't like it, it has that effect of ENBs which I generally avoid. The original looks much brighter and imo better.
Shukulo It all comes down to personal preference. The game runs at 1080p, so even though the game looks darker it's still way sharper than the original. The textures and lighting are so much better now. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that the hero's face looks a bit off.
As huge Fable fan, I did not find the difference better. The colors are more vibrant and people less scary looking before the "improvement". As silly as it sounds, I felt privileged to be a beta tester for the new game, but I didn't think it was very fun...still it's a bummer that Lion Head Studio is no more though!
Agree! The remake looks "nice". And only look better in a few scenarios. But, the few things they do make better in the worls is in NO WAY compensated by that souless expression of the charachters! XD
This new version of the game looks rad! The characters, lighting and gameplay looks way better than the original fable. So glad they did this for 360 I've always loved this game! All of the fable games were fantastic in my opinion i wonder what fable legends is gonna be like.
They should have made the main character look like the kid on the cover art, but instead they made him look totally different (seems they went more like a troll doll look for some reason). I decided to replay this recently and the only problem I have is a few of the characters faces looking different. At least I can put a helmet on my guy and pretend he's not hideous.
The original looks more realistic and sharper, while the remake is cartoonish and soft. Oddly enough during the archery comparison (2:41) the original had good cloth physics for the arm as it pulled back each arrow while in the remake the same blue cloth hanging off the arm is just stiffly attached
coming back to read old comments makes me realize how those original players will never be able to accept new, re-rendered version. As someone new to the fable series, I find Anniversary to be so much more beautiful and fitting for the modern gaming age. Yes it is an improvement, and I honestly don't see how the original can possible have better graphics.
Looking at this video, I have to say they've either gone bloody blind or just have their ridicilous nostalgia glasses on real tight. _Two sets of them, even._ *_Two sets of ten..._*
way too dark the "anniversary" edition the original graphics have a charm to them and a lot lighter so more magical than gloomy. as stated by others redo the game with next gen graphics not old tech that the 360 can only do
People complaining about the game being too dark. It's called realistic lighting. There shouldn't be a bright light we're there is no visible light source. Honestly I love both versions. Anniversary is a beautiful looking remake of Fable. I hope it soon comes to Xbox one. I need it😫
My ass looks like the old graphics? Is that supposed to be an insult? Sorry son you need some new material. I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from a child.
Alex Romero I played it lighter by default, the Anniversary version. I dont sure but the idiot who recorded it i think he touched in the options. Check the options -> graphic -> Gamma or brightness.
So besides the faces...why does the original have better detail to environment? Maybe not better texture, but: 2:08| Xbox=hay/grass moving in the breeze, 360=flat ground with grass texture on it you can see it really well at 2:38. 2:51 pause it | There are more particle? affects coming off of the giant wasp and the path it makes is more chaotic, 360's is symmetric=unrealistic. Also look at the backgrounds, 360 has a mountain and what looks like a tree or "flat textured dome/leafy hill". Xbox as 4-5 trees with limbs and the mountain behind it. 2:53-3:00 | Xbox, wasps have realistic thin wings moving in a blur. 360, wasps have "butterfly" wings flapping much slower, again unrealistic. Those coupled with the fact that the original had better illumination, giving it a more fantasy/magical look and feel, the Anniversary is not only not worth the extra money, it's a downright downgrade....hate to see any longer of a comparison i'd have tore the whole game apart.
the main character as a kid looks like a asian looks way better in the original but dont get me wrong im not saying that i dont like asians its just that it dosent look right
Louis Kelemen dude anniversary is way better even with everyone hating on it. The guy that made the video comparison just had anniversary's brightness setting to low.
Usually when graphics are upgraded, it means a new lighting system. It works well when a game is designed with that in mind. But older games that didn't have complex lighting system use shaders instead, I think.
it makes me sad that we will never see these old cartoony bright graphics of the xbox/ps2 era on games. Now its all about realistic textures which always becomes something like this fable on the 360. just looks dull, dark and soulless.
I agree, the cartoony graphics were way more fun for fantasy-type games like fable and harry potter (at least imo). I mean the whole point is it's *fantasy* and not realistic, lol. Unfortunately, now the trend is realism, and even more unfortunately, the trend for trends is to follow every single one till everyone's burned-out to a crisp. They've done a similar thing with cartoon shows too, where instead of it being a totally fictional something-or-another, they make it as if these cartoons are living in the real world at the same time as being cartoons, which is probably fine for most people idk, but it just doesn't fit right to me. Looney Tunes, for example, was just silly slapstick comedy cartoons purely for laughs and enjoyment, and now they've made all the characters date each other and live in houses and drive cars to be "relatable", and it just seems weird, I mean how can one relate to a cartoon character?!! This is a mad world we live in.
not a fan of that dynamic lighting at all. There was something about the original, I like the way its all unrealistically bright, gave the game a really explory feel
They should have included an option to use the old graphics like Halo Anniversary

the fact that the pc Port made it 1080p accessible aswell makes it almost poinless imo

Exactly what I thought. Lighting/gamma values are way too muted in X360-version.
Yea I just commented on that. It looks way to dark.
Lighting looks better in the old version. Shitty textures can look better than 4K textures if the lighting is good.
Is it me, or do the faces in the anniversary edition look really bad lol?
It's not you, it's definitely the faces. I'll stick with my original version of Fable.
The faces in the remake look really good, the faces in the original version are terrible lmao.
Fable 1 had aesthetics. :L It still looks good even after all these years. No matter what engine you put it on.
Old graphics have a nice charm to them, the "new" game is just a cash grab
Yeah, PC masterrace
Bloodstainer hits game shoud have been on the pc/xbox one wiht some good ligthing
Voidler to bad the pc version sucks to. bad 360 port
voicebross Why?
Voidler
well the graphics are not good at all and their is not mutch graphic options
Ive always loved fable one and have played it over and over many times in 6 years, never played any of the new ones though cause they did not appeal to me, when i saw today that this is coming to pc in a week i was pretty excited, but now looking at the difference i honestly prefer the old version ... Dont really know why
This is how it looked on console. Hopefully they realized what a terrible mistake it was, and the graphics on the PC won't be nightmare fuel.
The newer Fables were not that good either. I'd say 2 is worth at least one playthrough but 3 was just terrible. TLC still remains king, though.
What I learned from this video: The original version looks fucking great!
The graphics have definitely been improved quite a bit. I like the art style better in the original though.
anniversary 2?? lets see what another 10 years have done to this game ;)
I'm looking forward to this on steam finally, Loved playing FLC, however with no real controller support, the game is a bit of a pain in the ass to play on mouse/keyboard. That said the modding community will clean this up further so stop complaining about faces.
Valkris84KT Chapters! SSSS!!!
I honestly enjoyed this game, sure they changed a lot in it. Especially the control set up and also the interface, but I learned to deal with it. This game brought me back to my childhood. Fable will always be one of my favorite games. Just enjoy the game.
There was an option to change it to the original mechanics in the menu
Every thing looks dark and muted in this... yet in other fable anniversary video/pictures they look fine.
that's a pretty good remake actually. Not like the ICO/SOTC or God of war remakes where you can barely see the difference.
***** lol u mad?
This is a remake, those were remasters. Can't wait to replay this game with new graphics though and to finally complete my Trilogy for the xbox360.The xbox logo on the old versions stands out too much.
They weren't remakes, they were remasters big difference. Smart consumers weren't disappointed because they knew what to expect.
Where as now it’s basically just minor upgrades in resolution.
dont like the character models one bit and why is it so dark?
I think it's time for an anniversary version of the anniversary, so weird to see so little improvements 10 years apart.
We would need a ground up remake. I just tried to play it over last couple of days and some mechanics are simply irritating nowadays.
@@greggski3710 the next fable game is in the making xD
@Simsonlover222 Yeah, I know. We’re talking about remake of the first Fable.
@@greggski3710 ye but hey new fable thats dope :D
I dunno, some things look better - but a lot of it it, especialy the expresion on the charachters, are a lot better in the original in my opinion!
I mean, look at them! They ain't got any sort of expresion! It's like looknig at a bad puppeteer! The eyes are nice and glossy like a dools, their eyes doesn't move, their eylids doesn't move...
The only thing better is the mouth, which only serve to further point out the souless expresions of the remake. :S
And the updated look on the main charachter... they BOTH look wierd. But atleast the older on looks wierd because that was their old design idea acroos the board.
The newer one just looks... ugh... Creppy! XD
As if you took Chucky's face and blended it with supperman, and then took Gizmos eyes! :P
The surroundings is a hit or miss for me.
The darker tone is a bit "Meh" for me personaly. I liked, and looking at it, still liek the brighter world.
Except for the part in the old sanctuary - I think they really improved on the contrast between the darker walls and the brighter colored windows. :)
Perhaps I am just stuck with my memories of playing this as a kid - but judging by this side-by-side, I feel the older one to have more life to it than the new one.
If I were given this preview a long time ago, I still think I'd go for the older one. :)
i know what you mean for some reason i like like the characters face better in the original but im sure when we play it we wont be complaining haha
lol "supperman"
I feel like they could of fix the eyes for the HD they seem to big and werid
definitely one of the better looking games for the xbox.
I like the art style from the original fable
prefiero el original, el efecto de brillo le da ese toque de cuento de hadas.
Y que la cara del prota no parece de un asiatico enojado con su vida XD
This game is dark.
new lighting system thats more dynamic
like the shadows and stuff
thechickenchaser
Yeah but it still is really hard to see. First is thought my TV or receiver was off. Nope it is the game :(
That only time where the original looks better than the remastered version
Not the only. Assassin's Creed 3 is another one.
as a concept artist i think it was art director's fault because the technique is good but not the visual direction
This was one of the most video editing intense yet WORST side by side I've ever seen.
The graphics were pretty damn good for its time in the original tbh
Is it just me that feels that the 360 version makes the game look much darker? I personally don't like it, it has that effect of ENBs which I generally avoid. The original looks much brighter and imo better.
That you are even questioning it! :P
Yes, it's REALLY much darker tone then the original, which I generally like - but here, it is just wierd!
That's probably because gamespot's TV is badly calibrated. The game looks great on my LED TV.
CharlieWafles RJ I watched game play videos and the comparisons to the original, the original looks brighter and more saturated.
Shukulo It all comes down to personal preference. The game runs at 1080p, so even though the game looks darker it's still way sharper than the original. The textures and lighting are so much better now. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that the hero's face looks a bit off.
CharlieWafles RJ Eh, the lighting just feels a bit dark imo. I'd personally play the original first because of that.
I wished they kept the game as vibrant as it was on the Xbox .
i agree
the game lost all of his graphic charm, the colors were beautiful in the original, the new one reminds me on Fable 3, and that's a bad thing :/
omg the hero's face looks like he fell off the ugly tree and hit every branch down
I hope we can increase the brightness level.
its the new lighting system its making it look like that because the new lighting is more dynamic and such
bear in mind that it could be almost night time and thats whats making it dark
thats why
As huge Fable fan, I did not find the difference better. The colors are more vibrant and people less scary looking before the "improvement". As silly as it sounds, I felt privileged to be a beta tester for the new game, but I didn't think it was very fun...still it's a bummer that Lion Head Studio is no more though!
Hahahahah! This actually looks better on original Xbox. Quite sad if this is "remake".
I just hope it will include the lost chapters.
it do cause in the trailer you see the dragon and the whites things
New models remind me of the puppets from Team America for some reason.
Anniversary lost its charm of the original one.
well I think my hero is going to have a big bushy beard, and a helmet on at all times that way I won't need to see his hideous face, lol
Wow! XBox version looks so much better!
They should have made the main character look like the kid on the cover art, but instead they made him look totally different (seems they went more like a troll doll look for some reason). I decided to replay this recently and the only problem I have is a few of the characters faces looking different. At least I can put a helmet on my guy and pretend he's not hideous.
Why is 360 version so dark?
***** I don't. It feels like they slapped an enb on top of it. :/
***** Yes it defiantly feels unsaturated. It just feels to dark in a way.
The original looks more realistic and sharper, while the remake is cartoonish and soft. Oddly enough during the archery comparison (2:41) the original had good cloth physics for the arm as it pulled back each arrow while in the remake the same blue cloth hanging off the arm is just stiffly attached
seriously what did they do to the faces
coming back to read old comments makes me realize how those original players will never be able to accept new, re-rendered version.
_Two sets of them, even._
*_Two sets of ten..._*
Wtf.. The characters look really weird..
Anyways, can't wait to play my favorite game of all time in HD.
Old graphics just have that VIBE 😍
more polygons does not mean better graphics.
Which is why they improved the textures too.
The original was so good it didnt need changes. Just to be mastered and added to
Nope
3:24 jajajaja the "Sword in the butt" still happens 10 years later
way too dark the "anniversary" edition
the original graphics have a charm to them and a lot lighter so more magical than gloomy. as stated by others redo the game with next gen graphics not old tech that the 360 can only do
wow xbox was better than the 360 ha
Adam I haha yeah I have to agree. After seeing this video I'm perfectly fine sticking with my current copy.
People complaining about the game being too dark. It's called realistic lighting. There shouldn't be a bright light we're there is no visible light source. Honestly I love both versions. Anniversary is a beautiful looking remake of Fable. I hope it soon comes to Xbox one. I need it😫
That is actually pretty significant improvement in graphics.
looks so dark, i like the brightness on the original
so can the lighting be brightened at all? this is too dark.
If you dont like dark RPG's, then come back to your minecraft. RPG game need to be dark to be more mature, if you are a kiddie i will understand it.
+Denis Skobelev I wasn't talking about the tone of the game you fucking idiot. The graphics look better in the old version than the new.
My ass looks like the old graphics? Is that supposed to be an insult? Sorry son you need some new material. I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from a child.
don't fight with that Kid king xD. Did you ever find out if you can make it bright??
Alex Romero I played it lighter by default, the Anniversary version. I dont sure but the idiot who recorded it i think he touched in the options. Check the options -> graphic -> Gamma or brightness.
So besides the faces...why does the original have better detail to environment? Maybe not better texture, but:
2:08| Xbox=hay/grass moving in the breeze, 360=flat ground with grass texture on it you can see it really well at 2:38.
Those coupled with the fact that the original had better illumination, giving it a more fantasy/magical look and feel, the Anniversary is not only not worth the extra money, it's a downright downgrade....hate to see any longer of a comparison i'd have tore the whole game apart.
the main character as a kid looks like a asian looks way better in the original but dont get me wrong im not saying that i dont like asians its just that it dosent look right
So should I buy TLC or pre-order Anniversary on Steam?
Charles Andrews No there's a pre-order content pack with the steam version, its badass as fuck though!
Old really is better not only better, but notice how lots of foilage is removed in anniversary as well.
Theresa looked better in the original as did the Hero. What the hell? Ugly!
it makes me sad that we will never see these old cartoony bright graphics of the xbox/ps2 era on games.
Whose the guy playing the game with his elbows?
Play the original on PC with max settings (especially Anti-A), its so stylized it looks just fine.
WTF, the characters models are horribles, the Xbox or the PC (superior) version look better ._.
I remember being blown away by the graphics both times I bought the game. c:
all i see is that the xbox 360 is darker than the xbox lol
not a fan of that dynamic lighting at all. There was something about the original, I like the way its all unrealistically bright, gave the game a really explory feel
So, this isn't coming out for the PC?
They said they would release it on PC if fans demand it.
farrell360 Did they enhance the extra version of fable one or the original version?
moyga
It's the Lost chapters version of the game.
moyga yes, this also includes a revamped TLC
Thanks
I didn't get an xbox, but that was one of the most memorable and epic games i've ever played.
loki i like the xbox version more
Fable is wonderful not for the graphic but for the soundtracks!
