I screened Wicked last night. It was simply amazing. Caught Gladiator 2 at a 9:00 a.m. show this morning which also was good. Not fabulous but good. Also today is my 60th birthday. Hard to believe I've seen so much good Cinema come out right in my days. Love the show. Let's all be filthy!
Im pretty sure they did flood the arenas. I'm not sure why I remember learning this, but I'm pretty sure it happened. Of course I haven't seen the film yet so I dont know the context in the film. I could be wrong though. Im about to do some research myself now. Edit: Yeah, apparently it is true. Not saying it happened like it does in the film. But coliseums were indeed flooded for "sea battles".
You have no idea what you’re talking about. For over a year whenever I suggested how well i thought this movie would do, the comments were flooded with “no it won’t”.
Carlos, not me. Musicals historically don't do well. And I personally thought it could do well but again musicals typically don't equate to huge box office.
The coliseum was not turned into a shark tank, but surprisingly, it was able to be flooded for certain spectacles. Which is amazing they would do that.
Disney officially announced that that will be permanently closing Muppet Vision 3D and Muppet land to be the new Monsters Inc Land and Roller Coaster. This is absolutely heartbreaking 😭💔 Muppet Vision 3D was Jim Henson’s last project that he worked on before he passed away. Now they also did announce that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be rethemed to be a Muppets ride with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
I’m sitting in the theater waiting for Gladiator 2 to start right now. I never saw the first one, I’m mostly here to see Pedro Pascal. lol Edit: I don’t know about the great white sharks, but the Colosseum was occasionally flooded and used to stage sea battles. Regardless, I don't think the movie was advertised as historically accurate.
John’s comment about Nickelodeon shows reminds me of (fill in the blank director) saying Marvel isn’t cinema without watching any of the movies. Ariana Grande has YEARS of legit sitcom experience over two different series. Where do you think she learned her “natural comedic timing”? I’m such a fan John but that was a misinformed and dismissive comment that really hurt your credibility in my eyes. The references you made that led to your impression were shows from the 80’s.
@@felixg.4908if you actually watched Victorious instead of making assumptions, you would realize that their target audience was towards teens. Which is still children leaning but it gave her the opportunity to expand her acting and comedic timing
@ I still watch things like paw Patorl TMNT Bluey loud house and I’m autistic and autistic people can still watch cartoons and I’m 30 And like Kris says your never to old to like cartoons
left Gladiator 2 pumped and enjoyed it! funny because my daughters and i thought it was great! Thought Paul Mescal looks like Russell Crowe. Also, thought Denzel was great.
1:00:10 it is a valid reason, tho. Can it be considered a good movie, even if it’s measured by level of enjoyment, if you leave the theatre like Kris left because of that “wait, where’s the rest” feeling? 1:00:30 to this point, a couple of episodes back you were making fun of this movie’s ending saying that the en is “look! The mountain where we have to go!… roll credits” and people in the theater were “wtf?! You’re gonna end it there?!”
I did not see much worth in Gladiator 2. There’s some good ideas and semi interesting characters. But all of it is half-baked and contrived at best. None of the emotional moments felt earned and Pedro and Connie’s characters both deserved so much better. For me it too often came across as unintentionally silly and goofy. Ridley needs to hang it up.
1:05:50 granted the way he phrased it does make him sound like an ass, but I disagree. As long as you communicate that you might leave if you don’t like the movie, I think it’s fine. Granted I wouldn’t personally cause my wife wouldn’t, plus I always stick around hoping that the movie will get better.
The thing with westerns, was at their peak in the 30s-50s, there were people alive who still remembered it. To them it was within living memory. Eventually, it became history.
@Sonicifyouwanit Ya and I definitely agree with that point but I'm not just talking about that person. There were several people talking shit about Wicked that John Shut down.

Nickelodeon may not be prestigious, but watching Ariana Grande on it, you could see her chops and comedic timing I think is what people mean.
And watching Nickelodeon is not childish I still watch nicktoons my fav is loud house

Forbidden Kingdom is basically a Karate Kid movie and it even has Jackie Chan in it hahah such an underrated movie
"Have some testicular fortitude" ☠John's the best lol
says the guy that ditched his date to watch Heroes 😆
Yeah… when he was single and he called it off beforehand lmao. That’s different from ditching ur GF mid-date cuz ur too self absorbed 😂

Say you didn’t listen without say you didn’t listen lol
Yes, they had naval battles. We were referring to importing sharks from the ocean inland into the coliseum. Just the sharks part.
Ray is the man!! That introduction 😂. We need a podcast with ray uncensored for members only cause I want to see more of him
John! Everyone here… we all knew wicked would do better then gladiator please stop saying we had no faith in wicked lol 😝

Missed chance to call it "Wickedator" instead of "Glicked"
🚮
It's wickiator weekend for me folks
Canadians had Mr Dressup. But we also had Mr Rogers.

Okay. I LOVE the first Gladiator should I go to experience this? I just want it to be Really Good.
I cant wait to see it today
The Shallow Hal slander must stop 😂 that movie is good.
The Romans did fill the Colliseum with water and represent navy ships battles. Not sure about sharks thou :)
It's the shark part that seems far-fetched.
Hot take.
All movies that become franchises have a part 1.
Ummmm… Duh?
This weekend and next weekend, Wicked has only single seats by me in the Greater Milwaukee area. Moana 2 is almost sold out for next weekend too.

Every "Great" has mailed in a performance or 2. There's nothing to note. 😂 Al Pacino, Robert D, Anthony H, etc.
43:23 I mean it's Denzel, he could play anyone. I understand the question though. But yeah Denzel is definitely an exception.
I agree John! Ariana Grande, was exceptional in the role… if they ever do a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” remake… she would be amazing in that role! Omg!
And Paul Walter Hauser as Mr Yunioshi.
Gladiator 2 boils down to this: it’s good, but there’s no point in it
You had me at “it’s good”

Direct tv used to have a streamer service because i had it but this was years ago. Don't know if they still have it
As someone who hails Arcane as the best animated series of all time, John is strangely quite about arcane season 2. Why is that?

So excited
Why Glicked when there’s Wickedator?
Is it Wickiator or Gladicked?
The thing with westerns, was at their peak in the 30s-50s, there were people alive who still remembered it. To them it was within living memory. Eventually, it became history.

I love it when John puts the man Babies hating on Wicked in check.
I think our point was more about not ditching your date for KFC

Only Glicked can be created by one Jiminy Glick (Martin Short). 🤓
have you heard he dosntlike working for non-African American directors?
who?
the movie was bad
Wicked could end up 2bn... 👀 It's insanely good
