Barkley's choice of 32 is a nice and classy gesture, especially when you remember some players reactions to Magic's announcement and the overall perception of AIDS back in 1991-1992. It's obviously not "much" but still, good on Chuck.
bit of honorable mentions. Luka Doncic from #7 to #77: Luka throughout his time with Real Madrid always wore number 7, but when it came to his jump to the NBA. He had to switch because Dwight Powell was already wearing 7, and 77 was the closest to his original number. Aaron Gordon from #00 to #50: Aaron Gordon has worn number 00 during his time with Orlando, however during the 2021 trade deadline, he got traded to the Nuggets. When he go traded there...he chosed number 50 instead of number 00, he chose 50 in honor of his infamous match up with Zach Lavine in the 2016 dunk contest, as both men would get 50s across the board. Russell Westbrook from #0 to #4: Westbrook has worn the number 0 throughout his time with OKC and his time with the Rockets. However after the trade that would sent him to The Wizards for John Wall, he would wear the number 4, the reasoning is because the number 4 was his high school number and his number during his time at UCLA. He wanted to wear the number 4 when he got traded to the Rockets but it was already being worn by Danuel House, so he stucked with the number 0
I think with Gordon, it was with his 2nd stint in the dunk contest as a jab to DWade..since then, none of the elite dunkers want to join the dunk contest anymore..
I guess the only reason they didn’t have a replacement jersey for Jordan is because it was a road game, but even with that said it’s surprising no 23 Bulls jersey was available seeing how he was the biggest name in the sport by this point

In regards to Kobe: there was a book about the Suns in 2006, ":07 Seconds or Less" by Jack McCallum. He stated that Kobe chose 8 because his favorite basketball player in the Italian basketball league wore it, Mike D'antoni. Kobe grew up in Italy before moving back to the United States for his high school basketball career to start. Anyhow. after D'antoni's Suns eliminated the Lakers from the Playoffs in '06 (LA blew a 3-1 lead) and in '07 (Amar'e was healthy and dominated LA, PHX won series 4-1), Kobe seethed about D'antoni and the Suns (Nash being called 'MVP' two years in a row when Kobe put up 81 & averaging 30+ ppg). This was also Kobe attempting to ha e success without Shaq and PHX/D'Antoni humiliated Kobe in back-to-back years, so he was very bitter towards the team, but especially the fact that he was honoring the coach of the team on his jersey every game. So, he changed his number in 2008 to 24and Kobe said it was for his work ethic, which was for 24 hours a day. But, much speculation was said it was to no longer honor his childhood idol, Mike D'antoni, and the fact that 24 was one better than 23, MJ. He also wanted one more championship than MJ, but instead ended up with 5 instead of 6. That's what I know. Sticking to it. Cao!

He got lucky to wore the no. 32 in Phoenix because Amar'e Stoudemire changed his no. from 32 to 1 in 2006. -Then he signed with Cavaliers in 2009. Yeah, most players before never chose a jersey number above 40 except Jordan after returning from baseball (45); David Robinson (50); Dikembe Mutombo (55) and George Muresan (77). Again, I said players before, not current.
you missed one detail about Kyrie’s number change, which is that the Celtics had retired #2 for Red Auerbach, so he would’ve had to change it to something no matter what
In youth league-college football i played WR so i used 81 in hs in homage to Amani Toomer being a 3rd gen NYG fan, he was my favourite player growing up. Youth league- Highschool basketball i used 13 because my father was a rolling stone and i was my moms first (1) and the youngest in some ghetto triplets for my father (3) plus i was born friday august 13th. So it was a duel meaning number.
Shaq changed lots of numbers as well as a lot of teams.........I go a bit vintage as Bill Walton wore #32 playing for Portland and SD and #5 playing for Boston (at the time Celtics' #32 was Kevin McHale)
I wore #13 when I returned to Basket in Junior High but that was because it was the number that was given to me, and a couple of years later when I entered High School, the Basketball team let us choose our names due to getting new kits and I remember that I choosed 13, 33 and 39. 13 because it was my number in those prior years, 33 because it was 3 two times and number 3 is my favorite number and 39 because it was 3(favorite number) and 9, which is my day of birthday. Also, 39 is 13 x 3 and, years later, I discovered that 39 is Miku in Japanese. The team gave me 39 due to the other two numbers being elected by teammates and that sticked with me until today, where I wear this number with pride(especially since the double meaning with Hatsune Miku lmao)
I don't play on any team, but if I did I would pick 63, 29 or 92 because I grew up watching the late 90s bulls (chicago native), and Rodman was my favorite player on those teams so big numbers were also intriguing to me. Also I was born in '92, which is one off of Rodman's 91 for the bulls. The 29 comes from the day of the month I was born and 63 comes from subtracting 29 from 92.
Every number is formed somehow. I always picked 24 or 7. I never had a reason for 24. It was always given to me wore it in football, basketball, and a year in baseball. And Brandon Roy was my favorite player so I chose 7 in middle school sports. But, those two numbers are cool because you have to keep working hard 24/7.
For one night Jordan was literally the "unnamed player" on the Bulls just like every video game in the 90s that didn't license his name. That's pretty funny.

- Because that was his Jersey number when he was in High School. When he was playing in UCLA, he wanted the no. 4 but that was taken away by Aaron Afflalo.
-When he got drafted to OKC, he wanted again the no. 4 but the no. 4 was taken by Nick Collison so he stick with his number in UCLA which is the no. 0
-When he got traded in Rockets he wants again to wear the no. 4 but it has taken by Danuel House so he stick again with his UCLA/OKC jersey number 0
-So when he got landed in Wizards, Westbrook want a fresh start and luckily he wore the no. 4
@@christianoliverdeguzman4674 yea I do realise that. It looks weird these days tho to see Russ in 4 on an nba team. Considering I’m a Russ fan tho not surprised he chose it
A fer more:
Shaq - changed from 32 (ORL) to 34 (LAL) because it was retired for Magic Johnson. Also wore 36 in BOS because both 32 (ret. by McHale) and 34 (Pierce) were taken
Embiid - wore 24 for one game when Kobe passed
Yeah, most players before never chose a jersey number above 40 except Jordan after returning from baseball (45); David Robinson (50); Dikembe Mutombo (55) and George Muresan (77). Again, I said players before, not current.
Lebron wore no.6 because Wade's number was 3 so then he came 3+3 = 6 means theyre duo now in Miami
Please do best finishers in NBA history I would love it alot and I think other people will love it too
you missed one detail about Kyrie’s number change, which is that the Celtics had retired #2 for Red Auerbach, so he would’ve had to change it to something no matter what
The reason why Aaron Gordon wears no.50 now is the best for me:) Google it if you don't know..
It's in honor of his infamous match up with Zach Lavine during the 2016 dunk contest. 50s across the board
5:22 Didn't know Dwight has the same birthday as mine.
It was destined for jordan wearing no. 23. It was 2-3 peat championships
Gilbert picked number 9 for 9MM 😂😂😂
Kobe chose no.24 because he wanted to hold the ball for 24 secs
Maybe the 9 in Gilbert's jersey meant 9 as in Tec-9
I don't play on any team, but if I did I would pick 63, 29 or 92 because I grew up watching the late 90s bulls (chicago native), and Rodman was my favorite player on those teams so big numbers were also intriguing to me. Also I was born in '92, which is one off of Rodman's 91 for the bulls. The 29 comes from the day of the month I was born and 63 comes from subtracting 29 from 92.
No shaq? 32 34 33 & 36
I know it's just a Jersey but 12 doesn't look right on Jordan it feels odd I can't describe lol, it just looks weird!
All right a Friday Andy Hoops video , this is a absolute surprise , can’t complain about this
I saw a photo of Kyries dad playing basketball he wore # 11 as well
Every number is formed somehow. I always picked 24 or 7.
I never had a reason for 24. It was always given to me wore it in football, basketball, and a year in baseball.
And Brandon Roy was my favorite player so I chose 7 in middle school sports.
But, those two numbers are cool because you have to keep working hard 24/7.
kyrie wore 11 in college too, he couldnt on the cavs cuz its retired for zydrunas ilgauskas
For one night Jordan was literally the "unnamed player" on the Bulls just like every video game in the 90s that didn't license his name. That's pretty funny.
