I started listening to Pete Rowan in 1974, and will listen to him next saturday in La Roche Sur Foron (France), alone and backed by the great Italian bluegrass band "Red Wine"...
He should certainly record the entire tune. A buddy of mine mentioned he played a fabulous version of this with Tony Rice at a show last year. I can only imagine how good that had to be.
I'm a big Townes fan, but I've never heard of this guy. Have I been missing out? Anyway, that is a sweet-sounding guitar! I would actually say it's the best sounding guitar I've ever heard on YT. So many people (including many talented ones) seem to just not give a shit about sound. Or they just don't know what sounds good to me, I guess, LOL.
He's pretty amazing! Check out his cover of Townes' "No Lonesome Tune," as well. Also, on the same album is an absolutely gorgeous tune called "I'll Be Here," which Townes wrote for Peter as barter for money to gamble with.
Relative newcomer here also. I've been following Peter for years after being blown away by a vocal duet he did with Bryn Davies (bass). All the band members were outstanding, even the guy on guitar, (heh heh) but even through laptop speakers Bryn and Peter will blow you away. Check this if you haven't. ruclips.net/video/hJNV1dzXoas/видео.html

Got to see Pete and Townes play together 💙💚
I needed this to calm down.
One of the songs I will ask my son to play when he says the final goodbye to me.
One of the most beautiful Townes covers ever

Makes for a LONG song, though.
@@jimsatterfield8748 I wrote that comment more than a decade ago. They did record it, not particularly long.
something about his face makes me feel like I've known him my entire life
