Hey James, thanks for posting! I met Guy numerous times over the decades. My buddy lived down the street from him and Susanne back in the early to mid 70s. Before meeting him I had already learned to play most of the tunes he wrote prior to 75 or so. Jump to the early 90's. I got a call from a friend that he was playing with Townes and Robert Earl Keene at a local restaurant near me in PA. So I brought my buddy, Guy's old neighbor with me! Walking in Guy was shooting pool with Townes in the back. We shared a few Vodkas and old times. He was pretty buzzed. So were we.... Being a tremendous fan of Townes also, it was an evening I'll never forget. Right, Robbie! LOL Guy was the best songwriter to ever come out of Texas, or anywhere for that matter! Great recording you got here.
Beautiful...I could feel Guy's soul, his need to write, play and sing his songs. The Gift is always present, but sometimes she's hard to find, lives down deep in your heart and soul, but gets lost up in your mind.
I've been a musician for more than 5 decades but it's only in the last 12 months or so that I've made contact with Guy Clark, John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, Keith Sykes and others. I could kick myself!!
First song in and I’m Gobsmacked! Pretty sure that’s the best and most original version of Texas 1947 I’m aware of. Enjoying the rest as I write this. Guy Clark fans please make sure to look for his concert on RUclips live for the Kerrville Folk Festival with his son Travis. My favorite. Many thousand thank you for this post!
Thank you so much James for posting this wonderful recording of Guy. What an amazing artist. I first met Guy in the early 90’s and I’ve been a fan ever since. I had the pleasure of attending the Guy Clark Celebration Concert at the Ryman Auditorium in 2016.
Has anyone ever heard the song, "Feeling Good" by Guy before? He said he wrote it but it's never been on any of his records. It's not the same as "Me I'm feelin' the same". It looks like Levon Helm has a similar version but different lyrics. I thought I had heard all of Guy's songs but I guess not.
This is like finding a pearl in an oyster!
It's wonderful watching his mastery of a stage... all-by-himself!
wow. great show. now I know how wrong ive been playing these songs all along. thanks.
Excellent! What a gem he was!!!😊
Underrated genius His wife said 'I write the hits...guy writes the classics...'LA freeway' is a classic.
He wrote several.
Favourites change like bidens nappies
@@markmckenna593 yeah...'god save the queen man'...lol
@@markmckenna593Guy Clark would hate DT, who wears Depends.
Darn! I feel like that old lottery ticket I found in that old junk drawer is a winner.
