- Let’s go back to basics. Honestly it’s just for the fun of it, and I was sitting here waiting for my Miata to arrive back from Colorado. I’m super excited to get this onto a track sometime in early April, so we can see what this chassis can actually do.
360 Hp/400 Ft-lbs in a car that weighs about 550 kg should be kinda fun.

Oh and yes, I will have a firewall this time, and a taller rollbar. Sorry It’s taken so long to get the Miata done, But I promise it’s coming soon. I’m also a bit behind on emails so If I haven’t replied, I’m sorry. I’m getting there! Thanks as always for your support!
You absolute madman, keep doing what you think is cool as you want to do it!
I'm really curious, are you an engineer?
Curious on his background aswell... would be a neat short vid... background experiences/past jobs/current job
Take ur time my man
Can you explain how to centre the new tranny to the engine?
Just casually building a V12 open wheeler with pushrod suspension, cause my freevalve miata engine takes a bit longer to build then I was expecting.
Things everybody can relate to, you know? xD
Love it!
Thanks a ton haha. Yeah, first world problems for sure!
@@WesleyKagan I wouldn’t say first world problems I’d say mad skills
@@user-de4cq6uk6l absolutely mad skills
Angry skills?
bro was is mit deinem namen los lmao
"so i took a tape measure and it sorta looks like it fits the right way" thats my new favorite quote replacing"if its stupid but works it isnt stupid"
I mean it still might be stupid but at least it looks good hah!
You gotta throw in, "if it isn't illegal, it's legal"
@@WesleyKagan both looks cool and it probably will sound cool as hell and be fun to drive!
@@WesleyKagan honestly with all the planning in the world it’s impossible to get anything these days to ship in a normal amount of time
"sorry things are taking so long"
I'm surprised at how quickly they're going!
It's mostly parts- it takes so long to get certain parts in, and I'm bad at planning.
@@WesleyKagan yeah dont worry about it man, you're doing a 2-3 man job entirely alone so I dont think any reasonable person is upset with you about how long its taking
Wesley is very humble of his talent and pacing for his projects it seems lol
@@WesleyKagan if waiting on parts means you start a new crazy project keep ordering! Awesome channel. Can't wait to watch it grow.
@@WesleyKagan your better than 99% of other youtube channels!! Some drag out months old content for max views lol. Also can you please do a tutorial on how you centered the tranny to the new engine?
And another thing, does anyone else feel like a useless piece of siht when you see a dude in a garage build a V12 track car in his "spare" time? Then builds a pneumatic Freevalve system? Knows how to autoCAD, program software, Weld, machine, and 3d print parts? I mean, some of us can't even hang a picture on a wall.
Just a little
I know all that stuff in the last sentence and this dude still makes me feel completely useless.
my forte is low level programming, I'm a pretty decent welder, and know my way around autoCAD... yup, still feel like a useless piece of shit compared to this dude. his time management skills and overall efficiency at what he does must be out of this world.
I'm on of the ones who can't hang a picture
Does the picture need to be level?
so first you turn a boxster into a f1 car, then make a diy freevalve system and then get a v12 for the f1 car? all your content is sooooo cool
Thanks! I'm trying to keep it interesting, sorry it's so slow going!
@@WesleyKagan doesn't matter, quality over quantity and no noisy background music all the time. Can't wait for the next video!
@@WesleyKagan There's nothing to be sorry about. Everyone who once built anything from scratch knows how much time even less complicated fabrication takes. I'm actually surprised how you can make that much progress in such a small timeframe. Even back in Highschool where I basically had at least 5 hours to spare every day for my projects, e.g. my fuel injected 4 Valve conversion turbo scooter, it took me almost a year to get it done. And that was waaay less complicated compared to your projects xD
@@WesleyKagan If i cared about having daily uploads i would not also be a fan of Rob Dahm, likewise as previously stated, the quality and freshness of the content you come out with far outweighs the lack of quantity
Sooooo freevalve v12 next lol?
Holy cow I didn't think this channel could get even better this fast. Awesome!
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it!
@@WesleyKagan I did have one question. Is the V12 leaning forward? If so, is that intentional, or will it be corrected when all is finished? Thanks!

So glad the Porsche-Merc F1 car is getting a big engine! That’s awesome. You’re doing great. Quality content, quality builds, and fresh ideas are a winning combo.
First stared watching I was like ahh yea this guy knows his stuff, and the more I watch the more I realise that hes an actual genius. Can't wait to see where all these projects go!
One little thing to correct: The M137 is not a two valve per cylinder design, but a three valve per cylinder design! Mercedes is the only manufacturer I know of who ever did this and as far as I know they only did it on this, the M112 and M113. And even though it is lighter and more compact than the M120, the M137 still weighs round about 220kg.
The V12 track car is super cool. You got my sub!
I build lots of stuff, bikes, boats etc, but your channel is so awesome, no pretensions or evaluated drama for effect or goof balling for the camera, just a humble diary of an engineering genius.... ps watching your channel solved my throttle body choice problem for the 1945 Ford GAA 1100ci V8 petrol Sherman Tank conversion i'm doing going from Carbs to EFI for my boat project, so many thanks !
M137 was a 3 valve per cyl engine! Also M120 is the coolest of them all :D Cheers!
EDIT: Also Pagani Huayra has a variation of M275 engine: the M158.
M120 is masterrace!! You know whats even better than an M104? Two M104s!!!!!
@@GregoryVeizades Imagine this guy slapping the M120 to that car with all the funny bits like the Individual Throttle Bodies like Pagani did to the Zonda. Pushing over 600hp, and that scream!

Love it!!! Needs to be on a T-Shirt!!!! You are quickly becoming my favorite channel!!!
I've been thinking about doing merch- I'll keep it in mind!
I would buy one I have the same disease
Loving the blase' way you 'just do stuff'. There is no just doing it , this is epic stuff, subscribed from across the pond where we pride ourselves on making stuff in sheds/man-caves and garages. Can't wait to hear this running.
The entire 5 minutes of reasoning why it isn't going to work, finished with a ''so I'm gonna take that and it put in this" was gold. You have my subscription sir
Dude that's my FAVORITE ENGINE, oh my god your channel just gets better and better, I'm so glad I found it. I seriously love how jam packed each video is, normally what you did in this 12 minute video would be a 7 part series with 3 guys working on it. Very impressive stuff !
Thank you very much! Yeah, I try and keep things condensed and not stretch out a project, at the cost of my time between uploads haha.
"Something that's not Corvette:" Vroom-12
Add some fenders, turn signals, and brake lights and it'll be road legal! I can't wait to hear the ITB sound on that V12.
For legal reasons I can't say that it's been driven on the road, but, you know.
Oh Oh Oh!!! No, never.
@@WesleyKagan as far as legality goes, even if you said you did, it would still be hearsay. You can say that you drove it around the world, or drove it through the pacific.
Fuck it, you drove it to the moon and back, didn't you?
Genuine belly laugh at 2:12. Perfect delivery! 🤣
In fact, you have great delivery throughout. Not only do you have great content, you have such a good persona for these videos. I'm so glad I've been here since the beginning to catch all of this!
I'd love to see some timelaps or more in depth filming, but the content is already amazing!
Love the content, ive been following you since the f1 video, im a follower from Mexico!
Gotta love the prius parked in the street in the background! Keep up the amazing project videos. You inspire me to learn more!
If this was any other channel this would have dragged on for like 10 episodes over 6 months...bravo to you
Can’t wait to see/hear that thing running and driving
Dude! Nice work, watching the starting of this video, i didnt think you would have gotten that far with it, you just get it done! Keep it up man! Awesome build too btw
That “little” v12 has a magical f1 sound so it’s going to be MAGICAL 🤩🤩🤩
Classic car guy front landscaping - gravel! Yard work takes time away from car fabrication - I love it!
I just don’t wanna water it during Phoenix summers!
Just discovered your channel and subscribed. Keep up the good work man, your stuff is awesome and different. Getting fed of most car youtubers content ''Today we'll install a bolt-on cat back exhaust on my GTI''

In all seriousness ,, you sir , the cars you build are next level ,,, congrats for having the kahunas to build what makes you happy , not what you tube viewers like to see, but when the viewers see your work , everynone loves it ,,, kudos brother
Thank you- Yeah, I'll always do the builds that interest me! I'm passionate about what I do so I think that helps a bit.
Man this project is amazing! Congrats!
Wesley, I Love You! A benz v12 in your F1 go kart is exactly what i was dreaming about when i first saw this porsche project. OMG! What dreams are made of.
How are there only 62k subs? I genuinely have no idea how. Good upload schedule, insane projects, channels with massive budgets and millions of subs can’t even keep up with that half the time
I've never watched. And was hesitant because I'd assumed another 'no music, awkward, 1 camera angle, not detail/not enough context' channel. But your presenting and detail has blown my mind!
What’s kinda cool is that your design of making the engine and rear end be it’s own subframe, brings it just that much closer to tribute/replica.
Yet to see if you get an exhaust on it, but the old Ferrari v12 exhausts looked mean
And again........awesome video!! Really like your style of filming and explaining. Just perfect, I am already looking forward to the next video, either if it's the miata build or this one
Awesome! Thank you!
This is awesome dude! Ironically enough, when I first came across your channel and saw this project, and saw the corvette project with the merc, I immediately thought "I hope he puts that V12 in there." And so you are! Dope. Keep up the awesome content dude. Hope to see you well over 100k subs someday soon.
How have I not heard of your channel?? This is awesome!!!!
Chill dude, you can take your time on the Miata. I've never seen such quality builds on RUclips before. Keep doing what you want and take the time you need. I'm madly in love with your content.
The 4 people that disliked this are just mad that they didn't think of it first.
Not gona lie. You are my new favourite youtuber and I cant wait for your videos. Honestly I am sad I discovered you already. It would have been awesome to discover you in a year or so and just binge watch all your videos and don't have to wait. But then again Im happy I was in the first 50k subs. You're gona become a big channel oneday.
So excited to see how this is gonna turn out at last! Can't wait, and amazing work dude!
One of the best channels on RUclips hands down👏👏👏 You'll be at 100k soon!!
I must say I preferer the more compact f1, but a v12 is really cool so it still my favorite project car on RUclips, I really enjoy your content so thank you for your work

I want to know the route he went education wise to end up with the skills to do all of this. I'm kinda young and fab and CAD skills are on my list to learn.
@@chaseharrison2064 how old are you? Im 15 and i want to do automotive engineering at university then go on to do mechanical engineering at a racing team, ideally F1 but any gt3 team will do wonders for me
@@harveywhite3001 I'm 18. That does sound like a good route. That channel is incredible. When others spend 150 videos detailing how to remove a bolt and tell us a thousand time how glorious it's gonna be when it's finished, you just took us by surprise and installed a V12 in your home-made 60's F1. A little more videos would be welcome in fact...

This has been an idea I've personally had since early 2018, extremely happy to see someone with the same idea put it into actual metal and rubber! I'm hoping to try and make one of my own within the next 10 years either during or after college, so I may or may not be taking a couple notes from this haha
Love the content, as an aspiring future Miata owner I’m really interested to see what the freevalve Miata kit looks like. And I definitely appreciate taking the time needed with it, it’s not exactly a simple thing to do
12 Point bolts are awesome but you gotta hammer the bit in if its full of dirt. I have them on the Driveshaft flanges on my Golf mk2 and they get absolutely covered in grease and grime. A few extensions, a hammer and an impact usually get them out no problem.
Yeah, I finally broke down and bought a set. It was time, I've done too many the wrong way to not. Those and inverse Torx.
outstanding work again !!!!
oh yeah! thats what you needed! im happy for you man
Shit gets more badass every time I watch, cool projects man
What a crazy project. Can't wait to see it come to fruition!
You and me both!
You've gone this far, surprised that you didn't go dry sump. you could get the mass much lower as well as address oil starvation issues under g loading.
I still may. It was a requirement when I was using the M96- With the pan setup on the Mercedes it's actually fairly well setup, so it's not mission critical right now.
The one that made 600+ hp and 700+ tq was the M275 AMG and was 6.0L, put in the 65 AMG cars starting in MY 2005. The one from the 600 cars starting in MY 2003 was still an M275 but was 5.5L and made just under 500 hp 600 tq. Monster engines
Not sure if it was mentioned already but that corrosion in the bell housing is likely coming from the engine oil heat exhanger directly above that corner of the bell housing. The o-rings often leak with age and heat exposure.
Yeah I actually tore the motor down and it's exactly that.
Awesome project ! That should sound like a proper old school F1 !
Just wow. Can't wait to hear this thing! Any other bucket list builds that interest you? Someone like you I'm sure has a ton of epic ideas.

That's awesome, dude! Can't wait to hear this thing scream.
Same here, It's going to be loud!
The stuff you do is really cool. Would love to see longer/more videos which show your process a bit more (that's kinda what RUclips is about).
Wow , great job man. Can't stop thinking about the 24 spark plugs and the potential of a bad plug or two. Well worth checking for cylinder misfires with diagnostic equipment when she's running. Great project mate, be great to see it on the track, it's going to sound mad with straight pipes.
I walked into Orielys and ordered 24 wires and 12 coil packs for a gen 3 hemi. It was not cheap.
@@WesleyKagan I can imagine mate, I stress enough servicing my little 4 cylinder ha.
Hey Wesley! Hope this project is going well! just some notes for it. The M137 is actually not the motor that went into the early Pagani. The M137 has structural failings that are attributed to the reason for the cylinders going out of round. I just wanted to give you a heads up before you dump too many resources into an engine that will fail sooner than you think. Mercedes figured this out and fixed the structural issues and added twin turbos because it was so underpowered and it went into the 2002 S/SL600s. The early Pagani cars used the M120 found in the early r129 sl600 and similar year s600. This engine was better suited for Pagani because of the tuning potential of a DOHC 4- valve per cylinder engine. Best of luck with this and the free valve project!
- Chris
You're seriously the car equivalent of a mad scientist and I am here for it!
Love your content, man, keep it up
The reason for the corrosion on the block is from the engine cooling down and moisture in the air falling out of suspension. It, the moisture, collects in the pockets and nature takes over causing corrosion.
as long as it sounds like a zonda/F1 car that's all i want.
That's pretty amazing! I'll bet it will be a rocketship!
