- For my first soundscape of 2024, I aimed to craft something truly otherworldly. In my opinion, underwater atmospheres possess this quality abundantly. I used filtered and shimmering synth textures to evoke a muted underwater ambiance, and traditional acoustic instruments like kalimbas to infuse an ancient tribal quality . Story Time:
In the concealed reaches of the boundless open ocean, where the sun's rays struggle to pierce the fathomless depths, lies an enigmatic abyss known as Zamaru's Embrace. Its ancient name, whispered in the hallowed echoes of waves and currents, resonates with the tales of time. At the heart of this clandestine sanctuary rests an awe-inspiring relic-the Stone Countenance of Zamaru, the Ocean Guardian.
As the fable unfolds, Zamaru, with a name drawn from the ancestral threads of forgotten tongues, embodies the god revered by seafaring civilizations of old. Hewn from the depths of the ocean's soul, the colossal stone head bears witness to the eons, its features weathered but eternally vigilant. The sacred sculpture's purpose transcends the corporeal; it stands as the vessel of solace for souls untethered in the vast expanse.
The cavern's entrance, guarded by luminescent aquatic flora and ancient coral formations, conceals a labyrinthine passage leading to the ethereal sanctuary within. Lost souls, adrift in the cosmic ballet of the ocean's embrace, find refuge amidst the sacred stones that form Zamaru's shrine. A soft, cerulean glow permeates the cavern's depths, casting a mystic aura upon the timeless congregation of ethereal souls.
The tormented spirits, unable to fully sever their earthly tethers, linger in the liminal space between worlds. The cavern, shrouded in both the beauty and sorrow of its existence, echoes with the melancholic whispers of the eternal ebb and flow.
Zamaru's Embrace serves as a testament to the enduring connection between mortal souls and the vast expanse of the unknown. Each wave that caresses the ancient stone visage carries with it the unspoken hopes and dreams of those who, in life's tumultuous voyage, found both solace and yearning in the depths of the open sea.
I appreciate the short stories you write to accompany each of your tracks. It helps me get more immersed in the sound, and it's not something I see other ambient composers do. Thank you for what you do. I listen to your music often. It makes everything easier and much more peaceful. 🙂

What is the best DAW in your opinion? I use Ableton
I mainly use Logic Pro-it just clicks for me. Sometimes, I mess around with Ableton as I feel it might be the best DAW for ideation.
Surprisingly, some folks use FL Studio for ambient tracks - I don’t personally get on with it, though.
It’s all just personal preference though I guess, I don’t think any is necessarily better than the other….
