    Very motivating. Well done, you put in the work, and the results are there for all to see. I’m 7 years post stroke and can’t walk without a walking aid, left sided hemiparesis

      @@strokerecovery-rehabjourne1368 I'm from the US. I had OT and PT a few times. I think I reached my ceiling for my type of stroke which was caused by an AVM rupture in the frontal lobe.

      Thanks for responding, from your journey I see the hardwork u hv put in and support from your family n doctors. Am from Bangalore,India.around 50 years ,I had a thalamic bleed on the right brain which affected my left limbs. Current state able to walk short distance without stick but have difficult in balance,I cannot put force or pressure on left leg n lift right leg up in air, this am practising staircase to get this balance ,am able to climb up and down with little support. Gait velocity is 1.7km/hr and the doc says it shd be minimum of 4-5km/hr to cross road ...how to achieve this speed?
      Left hand having lot of stiffness trying hard to keep small food boxes in kitchen shelf washing small cups to get finger grip. It pains a lot when I lift near 180 degrees

      Gary, I am in Australia. Never compare your rehab development with anyone else. Keep on making and achieving small goals. Before you know it, huge goals are achieved. Good lick.

      @@strokerecovery-rehabjourne1368 Yeah that's all well ang good, if you have a support network......I'm stuck on my own. I'ts human nature to compare oneself to others no matter the predicament/circumstances/infliction. How massive/what type was your stroke incedently?

    • @strokerecovery-rehabjourne1368
      @strokerecovery-rehabjourne1368  2 года назад

      Hi Gary, my stroke was Ischemic Stroke - a blood clot.
      I had paralysis down the left hand side of the body and I had slurred speech. I agree, I have a good support network. I was very fortunate the i ended up meeting a brilliant Exercise Physiologist who has guided my rehab - still does.
      Are there no support networks in the Uk that you can access?

      @@strokerecovery-rehabjourne1368 There's the 'Stroke Association' 2 years in and I'm still trying to work out what they actually do. Everyone you try and get help from just passes the baton to someone else and consequently nothing happens. Pretty dismal really however, that's the case with most things here these days. Every ones so busy arguing, procrastinating and dishing out rhetoric there's no time/money for anything else.

      @@garywalling4341 Hi Gary, Where about's are you in the UK? I am based in Cannock, Staffordshire, To use the lingo i am 5.5 years post stroke :-) I have not fully recovered, but I'm not in too bad shape. Not much in my area, so I have travelled about and tried quite a few things. I've got a few ideas on things to help and am motivated to help others. I'd be very happy to meetup and share ideas. I am prepared to travel to you if i can get travel + accommodation setup to suit me or even just do a virtual meetup if that will be the best way. If you can let me know roughly what area you live for now, that will give me something to think about and we can work out details at a later time. No worries if you don't fancy it.
