What an awesome way to spend time as a family. I'll dare to bet that none of you will ever forget this time together. Looking back, I would have loved to do something like this. I have the great blessing of seeing all 5 of our kids and 13 of our grandkids regularly as they all live close. But what you have done with this is truly memorable. Blessings on you.
Thank you so much for such a kind family. We are making memories to last a lifetime and cherishing every minute with our kiddos while we have them. Hopefully, we will get to live near our kiddos and grandkiddos one day too. You are living our grandparent dream :)
Watching your videos while shopping and finally on the Loop. Sounds like you're happy with your choice and that's what its all about. Ocean Alexanders are great boats and glad it's working, and there's a ton of value with an older boat and modifying it for YOUR boat. And, I'm glad you didn't buy some of the boats you reviewed. So, where are you now? Are you not on NEBO? Should be. And, in your next video, mention what you would have or should have done and things you wish you didn't do. I'm looking forward to my 2nd great loop (3rd loop overall), and it's been great.
Congrats on doing the Loop!!! We are definitely on Nebo but had to go into private mode after a weird encounter. Enjoy every second of your loop. We miss it!
I can sea why you fell in love with your boat that just got better. One of my favorite videos was when your kids imitated mom and dad in featuring a possible boat for the Adventure.
Been following vicariously through your entire Virtual Boat Shopping (cue the reverb 😊) journey, and loved what you finally ended up with. A truly elegant boat, and you’ve made her all that she was meant to be. Whoever buys her is going to be getting a magnificent vessel. Heck, I’d make you an offer right now, except we can’t have anything over 50’ in our slip. Enjoy these last weeks aboard!
You have been blessed with this great find. I've never seen a boat this size with 18 ft wide salon👍 I was focused on Hatteras 53 but the clincher for me was your vessel having both engines in one room. My heart however skipped a couple of beats however when you announced you were going to put this beauty on the market and start over. But in the afterthought, you're a young family and with your upgrades I'm sure you'll make a profit. Many years of happy cruising , lovely people ❤️ 😊
It was the PERFECT boat for our family to do the loop in. She will always have a big piece of our hearts. Thanks for watching and for your kind comment.
Congratulations! The boat looks great. We wish we could have been on the Loop with you this year. It looks like next loop year 2024. Really looking forward to seeing you and your families loop adventures when you have time put it together.
Any year is a good year to do the loop! And thank you for your patience with our videos. As you are about to find out, the Loop is very time consuming LOL.
ok! I never really comment on vids but wow! so perfectly done! Boat tour vid channels could learn a thing or two from you! Living the dream!!! Praying for more from you all and love the attention to this journey you have - or the lack thereof,, because it really is a breath of fresh air! Perfect balance of vids and family life - as it should be.
Well you just made our day with this super nice comment. THANK YOU!!!! Really nice of you to take the time to send this. Glad to have you on this journey with us.
I LOVE this boat ! THIS is my all time favorite RUclips Boat ! And one of the best 'Boat Tour' channels on my screen !! (I've watched 'em all ! And you look like you could use another year cruising . You look Ten Years Younger !!
Fantastic ammo as I work hard to convince my wife and two daughters that I am not crazy. I think this would be such an awesome home full time, and surely as a winter home. Great job, great vibe, great boat. You have the guts to do what many us dream about. Love to hear more about what life is lock when spending a lot of time at the dock. We always see videos of anchoring out and traveling from boat owners. What is it like to spend days or weeks, or months at the dock, just using the boat as a home? Thank you so much for sharing.
@@TheBoomershines Thank you and forgive me for calling Marina life, dock life. My wife just watched your video and said "wow that looks fantastic." We have two college aged girls and are essentially empty nesters now, so your size boat would be awesome. I will keep the pressure on...with your help!!!!
Love your boat tour, and your boat!!!!! We have just done our first year onboard our boat The Oriental Lady - our very first boat - a 57 foot King Yachts Corp fast trawler - similar set up, but SeaShine is certainly beamier which is amazing to see that difference. The Loop looks amazing as well - hopefully one day we will get to experience that. For now we are loving the Marlborough Sounds in New Zealand.
You are so lucky to get to cruise New Zealand. What an amazing country you have. We hope to come visit again soon. Good luck on your adventure and safe travels!
It was funny. One evening I was surfing RUclips. I watch boat for sale videos. Anyway I came across a 1987, 56’ Ocean Alexander for sale. I realized that it was y’all’s boat. It was already sold. Y’all’s updates y’all did made such a huge difference. Beautiful boat to have spent a year on. I know it was always your intention to sell her when y’all finished the loop but was it hard to let it go?
It was super hard to let her go. But that was always the plan. People say the best days of boating are the day you buy and the day you sell. We disagree and think perhaps those people didn't buy the perfect, unicorn of a boat. Thanks for the sweet comment :)
This is primo social media right here. Attractive blonde, married to handsome artist, has 1 boy, 1 girl, buys the perfect yachtie yacht, lives life on easy mode. Doesn’t get better than this. If this isn’t the pinnacle of success for most average people, then I don’t know what is. Edit: Oh, and you are never allowed to complain about anything again! We’re watching.
LOL. Thank you for the giggle (and the blush). We feel incredibly fortunate we have been able to pull off this crazy adventure. Thanks for joining in the fun.
Such a beautiful boat. Great taste and nicely done. After all the searching you guys did and finally on the water…hate to see you guys sell it so soon. The new owners are going to love it 😊
Love the layout of that boat! And all your updates look fantastic! Mark how have those engines been performing for you? Have they been as economical to operate as you were hoping?
Peaches and Cream have been GREAT! If we go at cruising speed they are surprisingly economical to operate. If we go fast then we might as well shoot hundred dollar bills out the exhaust. But its has been great having the option to go fast when we need to.
First I've heard of flipping a yacht, but at least you're getting to enjoy it before saying Bon Voyage! (Getting the "Two happiest days of a Captain's life" in quick succession). Congratulations for checking this off your bucket list in such a classy way 👍
It is been incredibly well loved over the years and it shows. We looked at so many boats and nothing under 60' in length even comes close to this incredible living space.
Respect. Beautiful boat...beautiful family. You guys are truly blessed. My wife and I have set our goals to do the Great Loop. We love your boat and will look for something similar. You made a video about a year ago detailing the 10 steps of buying a boat and one of the steps mentioned insurance. Since the largest boat I have ever owned is only 18', I think we may have to buy something smaller and accrue experience before going as large as your Ocean Alexander. Any advice? Also - how do we find a reputable boat broker? Thanks in advance for your comments
Hopefully our information is helpful. Insurance is definitely a large piece of the puzzle. The key is to build your resume and sell your skills and safety to the insurance underwriter. For a broker feel out the individual and call around for sure!
Greetings from Tucson, Arizona.. LUV your video - thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us. I'm in the process of selling my house and tryin' to decide which 44 DeFever/Trader/Nova/CHB I want.
Watch the July 4th fireworks at Yorktown VA. Take Chicken Tender ashore and visit the Revolutionary War monument and Park Service museum. In the evening you can relax on your very nice boat to watch the show.

Love love love this video and all you’ve done with this beautiful boat!! We just purchased a 1997 OA 584 and your videos have been so inspiring as we look to updating our old/new boat! Can you tell me the manufacturer of the detachable wall sconces you found for the hallway? Thank you!!!
Apologies for the SUPER slow response -- I read your sweet comment then went to look for the link to the sconces then clearly got distracted for 6 months LOL. OOOPs. Here is a link to the sconces... amzn.to/3yrIFtz I am so glad you love our videos and so jealous you are getting to redo such a fabulous boat. What part of the world do you keep your boat in? And how is the update going? We have absolutely LOVED being an OA owner. We highly recommend going to one of their rendevous if you haven't already. Shine on!
Absolutely beautiful! And the boat not to shabby as well. :). The art work your husband created is incredible. You both seem like such a fun couple. Congratulations on your success!
No doubt you will have many inquiries; I hope I catch the notification-- and am in a position to consider taking action- when you sell this lovely craft this summer.
Love your boat! How was it doing the Loop with a 56 ft boat, now that you are done?? My hubby and I go back and forth on what length boat to do the Loop on. Very hard to decide.
56 feet is decor on the large side for the Loop. In parts of Canada we WERE the marina🤣. That being said we have loved the space it provided for the four of us. For a couple it may be a bit much, but it’s all up to you. Here in the Bahamas where we are now we are the same size as some of the mega yacht dinghy’s. Ha! Good luck and thanks for tuning in!
Great boat! What are your performance numbers? Gallons per hr at cruise speed and max speed? How many hours did you put on the boat during your trip? I have a 1987 Chris-craft aft cabin 426. It was repowered with Nanni diesels in 2006. I have 1200 hrs on her right now and planning on doing the loop in 2024. Just trying to get an idea on what I will have when done with the loop.
I wasn't sure what became of you and your channel. Looks like your all doing well. Sorry to hear that your giving up on the dream of living at sea. Im sure everything will workout for the best.
We aren't giving up on the dream. Our plan has always been to sell SeaSHINE once we finish the Loop. But I imagine we will be back on the water again one way or another for years to come.
Beautiful vessel and makeover. What has your experience been with the 2-cycle Detroits? Do you consume oil? What has maint/service been like? Anything else you would like to share about having a pair of Detroits.
They have been really great and easy to maintain. Only issue we have had (knock on wood) was with the fuel injectors. Maybe we will do a video about this...
Just another reply from the Capt. Our engines are not two cycle. They are the more modern Roger Penske designed 6 cylinder inline four cycle. They are a top rated on road diesel good for well over 1 million road miles which translated to marine hours is near 10k. Fuel savings is incredible with many commercial vessels switching from their old two cycle to this four cycle and the cost of installation was paid for after about seven years of operation commercially.
I've been wanting to do the the Great Loop for a while . But my wife says I'm going solo if I want to buy this boat. So be it...I'm in . Super interested . Is it still for sale?
LOL Tell your wife that there is no better or more comfortable boat to do the loop in #biased :). She is not sold yet but is under contract. That said, we are taking backup offers. Brent Bowlin with Great Loop Yacht Sales has all the info.
Great boat, and looks like a great place to raise a family. One suggestion. You might want to adjust your audio level a bit. The microphone seems to be peaking out. You're not talking loud, but when it peaks the mic it distorts. Maybe it's just super noticeable with earbuds.
GREAT suggestion and we totally agree. We just got Final Cut and are figuring it out. Hopefully, we will have the sound better figured out for our next video. Really appreciate the kind and helpful feedback.
Great video and love those light fixtures, look great and are very handy as well. Where did you get them ? Pity to hear you are going to sell the boat, she looks like a boat you can live on for many more years to come. If we would live in the States I would definitely be interested in buying her.
We will be very sad to see her go. She is an incredible unicorn of a boat and if our kiddos didn't want to get back to all their friends we could live on her forever. The lights are from amazon amzn.to/3lwiPyL
Here is the listing for the boat. Our broker is Brent Bowlin if you would like to make an offer 👍🏻 www.greatloopyachtsales.com/boats-for-sale/1987-ocean-alexander-motor-yacht-long-range-cruiser-brunswick-georgia-8921908/
So you are saying you aren't a cat person? LOL But there is this little thing called a vacuum that is very helpful at eliminating any evidence of cats and/or kids (which honestly cause bigger messes than the cats).
We totally agree that continuous adventures would be far more interesting! We also think a different boat will better suit our next chapter of adventures!
Noooooooooo!!!! Don’t go back!!!!! Stay here in Florida/Paradise! And IF you have to sell Seashine, get a slightly smaller boat & you can zip over to the Bahamas like people in Atlanta go to Helen. I lived in Atlanta for 50 years & will NEVER go back! Palm Beach County is heaven!!!
I like to think that one can either pay a mtg, lawn care, property taxes, etc..........or slip rental and still work at an office or on board.😊 ✨ 🌊 💨 🛥🏝👙🌞✨
We purchased the boat with it, but thanks . We already sold the boat after our amazing 15 month 7k mile adventure and the Samsung was bulletproof. We loved it. Even with all of the voltage drops at different marinas and on generator power it did great. On land we only do Subzero. They last forever and made in the USA! ⚓️ Mark
Just imagine the previous owners watching this: "So, yeah... we fixed up this ugly disgusting beast of a boat that the previous losers... oopsie! I mean; 'owners' had neglected for years, and left in just a horrible, ugly and filthy state!" 😶
You clearly didn't watch this video because we said NOTHING like that. We bought SeaSHINE because it was in incredible condition. The previous owners had babied her in every way and we are so grateful for that. We simply added our own touches to make it fit our family. #spreadlovenothate
@@TheBoomershines Oh, I watched... from beginning to end. (Perhaps I should put some kind of warning that my comment possibly contains some tongue-in-cheek sarcasm? 🤔) But perhaps you should watch the video, but pretend it's by people what have just bought a big old boat from you. Meanwhile, we'll just have to agree to disagree. But keep the videos coming, I love this series! 😉
@@thewolfchild The irony is that we remained friends with the previous owner. He even came onboard and helped a few times before we departed as well as along our entire route. He loved our touches and agreed they needed to be done. ⚓️Mark
Selling after all your upgrades. Such a mistake. She and the life are unique and you won't realize what you had til it is gone. You really need to rethink this.
@@TheBoomershines Any chance you could keep her and maybe do the occasional charter to pay the bills? Kids grow up and their perceptions can/will change. Letting that boat go will be such a mistake. If I could buy her I would. Your future trips don 't have to be so rushed/intense and the kids may appreciate them more later.
I like the way you think! But its more of a time issue than a money issue. With kids in traditional school, there are only a few vacation days and we want to explore the whole world on those vacations.
@@TheBoomershines A few months ago I saw an ad for a boat (Bayliner 4788 that was modern and mint) that was being used as an Air B&B. It was in an NYC marina and commanded a ridiculous price (i mean really ridiculous but it was always rented). Surely something like that with the boat in a highly desirable place like Miami, Tampa, Savannah, Hilton Head, or Charleston would mitigate expense and give you time to really think selling through. Those kids and you will come to appreciate that boat and future plans always change. Just saying to not be in such a rush to sell.
What an awesome way to spend time as a family. I'll dare to bet that none of you will ever forget this time together. Looking back, I would have loved to do something like this. Fuel savings is incredible with many commercial vessels switching from their old two cycle to this four cycle and the cost of installation was paid for after about seven years of operation commercially.
Chicken Tender! Hilarious!!
The kiddos named it LOL
You look so pretty in your dress
Nice tour. Where'd those neat light come from?
Glad you liked the tour! You can get the lights here... amzn.to/3K9suVx
@@TheBoomershines Thankee!
@@TheBoomershines Thanks
Blows my mind that your selling that boat.
We like your boat! We live in Florida and would like to know what your list price will be.
Trying to figure that out now. Shoot me a DM in instagram with your email and I can keep you in the loop.
@@TheBoomershines if I remember correctly the rode mic app has some settings you can tweak also. I think I spied a rode under your hair. Lol
@@TheBoomershines thanks for the quick reply. we will order them as well for our boat. Guess selling the kids is not an option ?😀🤣😅
LOL no we think we will keep them but it was a close call (especially after a hard day of boat school).

Good thing our cats don't shed much:)
Great tour!! I hate you are planning to sell SeaShine 😢.
Us too 😩 but hopefully we can find her a great home when the time comes.
Plz tell us where you found those lights

Is there a model name. Nothing I find is like this boat
There were only 11 every made with this incredible floorplan. I know one was lost in a recent hurricane so we are down to 10 at most still out there.
COULD YOU PLEASE GIVE TO US THE SALES PRICE AND WHAT IS THE MINIMUM YOU WILL TAKE IN CASH.
Here is the listing for the boat. Our broker is Brent Bowlin if you would like to make an offer 👍🏻

What are you selling for we may be interested
TBD -- send me your email address in a dm via instagram and I'll keep you in the loop.
Awesome boat! I'm going to have to sell my home to buy your boat (and maybe a kidney and a lung). LOL!
Well, she does make an amazing live-aboard boat but we do not recommend selling anything crazy to get her LOL
@@TheBoomershines I was just joking, lol. But I am tired of being a land dweller. It's not all its cut out to be.
is that boat good for doing bahamas?
So far so good!
Seen the cat tree in the salon.. that means cat dander is impregnated through the whole vessel.. ick
So you are saying you aren't a cat person? LOL But there is this little thing called a vacuum that is very helpful at eliminating any evidence of cats and/or kids (which honestly cause bigger messes than the cats).
How much are you selling for?
Brent Bowlin with Great Loop Yacht Sales has all the info if you are interested. :)
Why sell?, continuous adventures would be far more interesting.
We totally agree that continuous adventures would be far more interesting! We also think a different boat will better suit our next chapter of adventures!
@@TheBoomershines Are you thinking of something like a 70' Catamaran sail or power or a bigger Ocean Alexander?
Noooooooooo!!!! Don’t go back!!!!! Stay here in Florida/Paradise! And IF you have to sell Seashine, get a slightly smaller boat & you can zip over to the Bahamas like people in Atlanta go to Helen. I lived in Atlanta for 50 years & will NEVER go back! Palm Beach County is heaven!!!
I like the way you think! Its hard to think about going back to Atlanta.
Don’t do it! Stay in South Florida🛥🏖️🏄♂️🎾⛳️🌞. After a year on a boat Atlanta is going to feel like PRISON!!!
I like to think that one can either pay a mtg, lawn care, property taxes, etc..........or slip rental and still work at an office or on board.😊 ✨ 🌊 💨 🛥🏝👙🌞✨
Exactly!
41 TONS? do you maybe mean 41,000 pounds?
Nope. 41 tons. She is a hefty girl LOL
@@TheBoomershines holy cow. literally!
LOL
You will wish you didnt put in a Samsung fridge in the galley... pure junk. not if but when you replace it go with a kitchenaid\maytag
⚓️ Mark

@@TheBoomershines Fortunately we found a house with a boat dock so we enjoy the boat year round.. Christmas time in Newport harbor is magical
We rethink it all the time. But ultimately our kiddos come first and they want to live on land again.
