Just wanted you to know. I’ve been asking my boyfriend for nearly 2 weeks to cut 2 pieces out for me that I bought for a project, I literally just needed 2 boards cut in half. He acted like it was the worst burden in the world , so finally I gave up. I’ve never done a project or anything diy before so it was intimidating. I read some how to’s and watched your videos, and today I successfully cut my boards without harming myself or anything else. Thank you for these. I still feel very accomplished. :)
I am remodeling my home by myself. It's BS to think you need a man to do it, UTube is a great source - amazingly generous people. And if I did have someone to do it for me, I would take it, I would rather create beauty in the home and garden but I am proud of myself for all I have done that I thought was impossible. I fixed my boiler after losing my job end of February, plumbing fixes, etc, stopped at the electrical, manybe not that one. Good for you!
You are a GREAT teacher. I'm a 64-year old woman who just bought a 150+ year old house and I'm getting acquainted with power tools. I had some prior experience building sailboats in my 20s, but that was a long time ago. Your lessons are clear, succinct, and thorough. I'm getting my confidence back and working safely. Thank you!
Just purchased a saw and I have no idea how to work one, thank you for helping me feel a bit more comfortable. I am so impressed, not to mention I got what I needed to start.
The graphics, camera angles and zooms that accompany your great instruction are fantastic. I have only watched 2 videos of yours so far and these are already the best "how to" videos I have ever seen. So glad I found you. Will be buying my first circular saw this week!
Excellent explanation for a super beginner, I bought a saw for a small project and then immediately found myself stumbling over the most basic details having 0 experience with power tools of any kind. feeling way more confident now!
I've been watching lots of DIY/carpentry videos lately and this is the first time I've seen the magnified, picture-in-picture thing you're doing. Very, very helpful.
I'm on a project of building a 4 step deck stairs and i am an absolute beginner. I already replaced toilet bowls, door locks etc. just by watching DYI youtube vid. I am thinking of buying a circular saw for my current and future projects. Thanks a lot for the tutorial. I got the dimensions i need and will soon begin on my work.
Fantastic! Most "primers" seem to assume that I already know how t use a circ saw. You o9ffered both the basics of the doodads on the saw, AND how to do the two things that I bought it for -- slicing up 2x4s and trimming 8x4 luan sheets from 96" to 73." Well done, many thanks.
You’ve got to be an industrial arts teacher! Or you’re just excellent at teaching all points of an application, And pausing at appropriate times where students can absorb the information. Awesome!
Hey there! I don't know if anyone has already commented anything about this but I'll go ahead and go on with it. Sometimes the lower guard will become stuck or jam up on you after you're done with a cut, after every cut make sure the lower guard goes back to it's natural position. The saw blade will keep running for a few seconds after you release the trigger so just be aware and safe about that. And make sure you're cord does not get in your way or you'll end up ripping it in half.
These two videos about the circular saws were the best ones on RUclips. Helped me understand how I have been (wrongly) using the saw till now. Can't thank you enough for making these videos. And your style of explaining is really good for a novice user like me. #makedifference
I'm 43 in BMST trade school, these videos are very helpful I was a part time contractor helper and never shown property how to operate and now I'm ready to go all in on not just to master but to show others and keep learning.
And once again youve come through and helped me when I need it most. I ordered a skil circular saw today. It's inexpensive and I figured I'll only do simple home improvement projects with it. I came here to learn how to use it and now im confident that I can do this. Thank you for this video. I subscribed and I'm saving this to my playlist 😁
I purchased one today for a small project at home. I am glad that this video popped up in my suggestions and I am glad that I clicked to watch part 1 & followed up with this second part. I look forward to learning more about the various tools…! Thank you for taking the time to share and show!!
Following my husband's death, I found there were lots of DIY jobs that I had to tackle solo, including cutting off the bottom of doors after I had had carpet fitted. I purchased a circular saw which I could handle, (not the monster that my husband had used for such jobs
I've been watching wood working videos for the past few weeks. None have the great instruction and innate ability to teach beginners that your videos have. The camera angles are great and makes me more confident to give this a go. Thank you!
thank you for your matter of fact way of explaining, taking it from the basics and building up, without being condescending 🙏, much appreciated and ready to start practising with my new circular saw now 😀
@@redh8606 It's a Makita 7-1/4". It has worked great for my backyard projects: we now have 5 elevated veggie garden boxes and two flower planters! All repurposed from the deck rail that I removed. Thanks again for the video!
I'm almost in tears. My passion to build is surmountable but a tool is only as good as you know how to use it. Never being around construction or taught I've been left to instruction manuals and the guys at Home Depot for all my ideas. Thank you so much! I owe you a pizza (:
Thank you sooo much for this video. I have been afraid to use my new mini circular saw, and this video gave me confidence. I was able to do my first sawing project perfectly and without injury.
You are amazing! First time using a circular saw and I managed to do a perfect straight line thanks to your video tutorial, I had to cut a drawer for an elder lady so she could fit it into her room and it worked perfectly, she was really happy! Thank you very much and I hope this video gets to whoever needs it
Thank you so much for this!! I was able to cut pieces that I needed for my closet. Was initially intimated, but after watching your video, I was able to get myself together!
Thank you for this instructional video series. I have never picked up a circular saw in my life, but since I have just bought a house I need to learn instead of trying to get someone to do a lot of simple stuff for me. My first project will be building a small 'boardwalk' in my back yard and I will need to be able to cut planks and 2x4's for it. You're video is giving me the confidence I need to DIY this project in the Spring. 🙂
Love your videos. You explain so well. I was at Home Depot today asking how to cut a perfect straight line with my circular saw, because I was following the “0” line. The HD guy wanted to sell me that $100 track you mention, but you also mentioned two other great and cheap ways-the T square (which I have) and watching the blade and not the 0 line. Thanks so much. Can’t wait to do my next project!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Very helpful and instructional. I had always used traditional hand saws as a means of burning some extra calories every time I had some sawing to do. Unfortunately some years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinsons and now I am using electric saws more often. Some of the things in this video were very helpful
Thank you so much! I bought a 5-piece kit years ago. Have yet to try the circular saw because I've just been too afraid. I feel much more confident now. Time to get brave and give it a shot!! I have to build a wood frame to put underneath my new garden shed.
im 37 and im having regrets not learning how to be handy with power tools, i am thankful that RUclips has become the modern shop class of school, im excited to learn to be a handy man around the house maybe get into the construction business.
Awesome. I have two old wooden doors up in the attic that are begging for some repurposing. First project is a coffee table (one cut!) and this is super helpful.
Thanks a lot mate, this has been the first properly educational video to follow and digest the information, esp for someone who hasnt even got the tools in hand and is only prepping to get to the toolboard. I have followed part 1 and now this, both have been clearly information. You got my subs and like! superb!
Thank you. I followed my father around because I wanted to be like him. He was a Union master electrician who could do anything. He taught me so much, but I only watched him use his power saw. I have inherited it all - a vast treasure trove of well-made tools. I have his Skil circular saw that was probably made in the 60s. I'm retrovating my 1948 mid-century modern home and I need to cut some 1x3s to put the door frames back the way they were. But I was worried that I might injure myself. This teacher used the saw like my father - calm and under control. Thank you for reminding me!
I’m trying to build a frame around a bookshelf to make it look like a custom built in an all I have to work with is a circular saw. Thank you so much for this tutorial. It has explained so much and I feel so much more confident.
thanks for the video, I have a Craftsman 7 1/4 , I've been intimidated to use. I'm tried to learn woodworking, years ago I wanted to take wood shop in school but was told no it was for boys only, the next year it was allowed, but you have to have taken it the previous year. I used to follow a 5 in one tool , only to have the salesman at a trade show only talk to my husband and ignore I was there. Funny thing is I scored higher on the placement test for the military in high school than the guys did in building section. I helped my dad do things but he didn't teach me how to use the tools. He was in the California Conservation Core and built things. I wish there were basic building classes for everyone without taking carpentry classes. As many people could do basic repairs or basic furniture . There are people in the city of Bakersfield that would love to have a club. There is a great club in Fresno but a couple hours away. Any way thanks alot.
I'm just getting started with woodworking and your videos are amazing as they clear out all my questions on which saw or tool to buy and how to use them!
This is such a wonderful guide for a complete newbie! I feel like, as a woman, it’s less common that we’ve had that figure in our life teaching us the basics at a young age uno? So we make it to adulthood and want to learn these skills but from level 0. I’m so thankful for videos like this- taught at a level and in way that is less intimidating and more digestible. I’ve not been able to find any local classes or anything. So this video really got me excited again about learning
This is a really really good video guide (both parts of course)! I don't own a circular saw yet but I recently borrowed one and made a few first cuts without in-depth knowledge (had like a 20 sec introduction by the owner of the saw) but I have major respect for tools like this (same for my angle grinder that I've used a lot), because I know people have lost their fingers due to mistakes with these. After some training and learning from these guides I'm now ready to purchase my own circular saw. Thank you for making this guide, well earned thumps up and subscription!
Not mentioned in this video, but the reason why you adjust the depth to just below the material is to reduce kickback. As a blade profile approaches perpendicularity to the material it wants to hammer against it, pushing the saw back because the blade rotates counter clockwise. And ... motors do not spin clockwise because that would cause the saw to run away from you and ride up and out of the cut.
Thank you! Very useful videos, parts 1 and 2. Have just bought my first circular saw and was just a little nervous about using it. You explain things very clearly.
Thank you for the comment! I'm launching an online woodworking community for beginners, and I’d love for you to be part of it! It’s a fantastic space to ask questions, share your projects, and receive personalized guidance from me. www.skool.com/traininghandsacademy/about
Thank you for your video instruction. It was just enough to show me and tell me about the saw and how to use it. You are very clear and tell us exactly what we need to know and see to be confident using this power tool. I subscribed to your channel and look forward to leaning more.
Thanks so much for making these great videos. I always considered myself as having two left hands but after discovering your channel I realised I just didn't have or know how to use the correct tools. This makes it a lot less daunting and actually fun. Cheers.
Thank you for taking the time to show us/ teach us.... i just bought the Ryobi 6 and 1/2 circular saw homedepot ryobi deal with battery pack etc.... looking forward to ripping some would.. thanks again for your time.....
Nice straight forward video with lots of helpful tips. I love how you said to follow the saw blade on the pencil line to ensure a straight cut. Keep up the good work and sharing your knowledge
Tks so much for that comprehensive demo. Electric saws scare me but I really need to get over that cos I want bits and tradesman expensive and hubby lazy, so gonna give it a go!
Seriously, thank you so much for this 2 part episode on a guide on how to use a circular saw. I have one that I've never used but it will comein handy soo and now after watching your videos i know how to use it.
Circular saw for beginners am I glad I watched this i seen someone using one of these saws the other day and the plate to determine the depth of cut wasn't tightened up and was moving up and down and I use a circular saw pretty often and seeing this I beginning to think I was doing something wrong but seeing your video has put my mind at ease thank you young man
Just getting started with the circular saw. I was using a hand saw and the cut was awful. Trying to fit and cut studs for my shop. It helped alot so far.
I actually learned quite a bit from this and the other video. I think you mentioned a few mistakes i was doing that caused the saw to lock up and even make the wood start smoking
Thank you so much I am new to power tools and you gave me a lot of helpful information especially the fact that I am a low budget person at this point very appreciative of some of the cutting techniques
You sir are an excellent teacher. The questions I had, you answered before I could get them good out of my mouth. I can't lie, im very intimidated by the saw but I must overcome that bc im a crafter and I have things to do!! Thank you for your time!!
This has been a huge help to me. I am going to be boxing in some ugly pipes but have 0 experience. So at least now I know how to start to use a saw. Awesome ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You're a good teacher. I'm needing to make some nest boxes for my rabbits and your videos give me the confidence to give it a try on my own. Thank you! :)
i remember working in construction at 17yr old and i was helping cut 2x4s for the framers. One of them was quick enough to stop me as i was about to cut with the stud supported on each end. The stud was going to bind and shoot the circ saw back at me. I learned a valuable lesson that day lol
So Thankful you made these video's .... I want to learn to use a power saw and other power equipment and have no one to teach me. I finally decided to buy a circular saw for some small projects and need help .... the only thing I know is how to use a drill. Your videos make it less intimidating and I feel confident that I can do the job and teach my grandson the basic.

Agree. Great teacher & you have given me confidence to give it a go. Means I don't have to rely on my nephew for small timberwork jobs.
You know, you just gave me hope..... you have no idea how much......thank you!
It's people like this lovely chap that further the advancement of humanity. Knowledge sharing is a humbling experience, thank you again sir!

This 2part tutorial is very helpful. Thank you.
Please let me know if you need any other help. Thank you for the comments.
I appreciate your taking part in the sharing of this invaluable information !!! 🧿🧿🧿
My pleasure!!
Some people are just really good at explaining things for “dummies”. You are one of those people. Thank you!!
Really appreciate the time and attention you apply to the editing and production of your videos. Thank you.

That speed square tip is going to make my work so much cleaner now. I just never thought to use it as a perfect line guide. Thank you for the tip
I'm glad to hear that Arthur!
I purchased one today for a small project at home. I am glad that this video popped up in my suggestions and I am glad that I clicked to watch part 1 & followed up with this second part.

Thank you, I know feel confident to start cutting my own wood. Need to go buy my saw. 🥰
Very helpful. I have 0 experience with a circular saw and I wanted to get the basics. Thanks!
thank you for your matter of fact way of explaining, taking it from the basics and building up, without being condescending 🙏, much appreciated and ready to start practising with my new circular saw now 😀
Thanks for this! Just picked up my first circular saw. Was pretty nervous to get started and now I think I'm just excited!
How are you enjoying the saw ? What kind did you get

Just watched part 1 and 2 for some reason despite knowing how to use this tool but you’re intriguing to listen to so I stayed lmao

Thank you so much for this!! I was able to cut pieces that I needed for my closet. Was initially intimated, but after watching your video, I was able to get myself together!
Waiting for part 3 💀
Thank you for the very clear and concise content!
That's a great idea! What should part 3 include?
@TrainingHandsAcademy punch cuts, bevels, and all the other things this saw can do! 👀

Cheers.
Great to hear!

You are so welcome. I have faith in you! Let me know if you need anything. 👍
Jen Blob hubby lazy 😂
This sure helps a lot! I just bought a Lotus Circular Saw and we are in our way to finishing bunk beds for my 3 kids!
Nice John! I hear Lotus makes a good saw. Have fun, thanks for the comment!
Seriously, thank you so much for this 2 part episode on a guide on how to use a circular saw. I have one that I've never used but it will comein handy soo and now after watching your videos i know how to use it.
Glad it was helpful!
Circular saw for beginners am I glad I watched this i seen someone using one of these saws the other day and the plate to determine the depth of cut wasn't tightened up and was moving up and down and I use a circular saw pretty often and seeing this I beginning to think I was doing something wrong but seeing your video has put my mind at ease thank you young man
You're welcome Michael!
These videos should cover kick-back and how to avoid it. That's important for beginners.
My dad gifted me a saw but passed away before he had a chance to show me how to use it, so thank you! I’m done with the hand saw!
I have been using one for years but I watched your two part videos anyway. I am always looking for a little knowledge. Great job thanks.
Thank for watching Scott! 😀 You might enjoy these as well ---> ruclips.net/video/ILVCdEOhYBc/видео.html AND ruclips.net/video/JFdHBLSc12E/видео.html
Just getting started with the circular saw. I was using a hand saw and the cut was awful. Trying to fit and cut studs for my shop. It helped alot so far.
Just getting ready to replace my deck stairs and your video was very informative!
I actually learned quite a bit from this and the other video. I think you mentioned a few mistakes i was doing that caused the saw to lock up and even make the wood start smoking
Loved this man very insightful, clear instruction and demonstration, awesome channel brother
A total newbie like me found this awesome, thanks a lot!
Thank you so much I am new to power tools and you gave me a lot of helpful information especially the fact that I am a low budget person at this point very appreciative of some of the cutting techniques
Just bought a saw first time user... This video really helps.. Many thanks for your help
You're welcome!
No B.S., just practicall info! Love it.
You've saved our Christmas 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
You sir are an excellent teacher. The questions I had, you answered before I could get them good out of my mouth. I can't lie, im very intimidated by the saw but I must overcome that bc im a crafter and I have things to do!! Thank you for your time!!
Please reach out if you need help or have more questions! Now go build something! :)
@@TrainingHandsAcademy i most certainly will!!
I’m looking at buying my first circular saw. Your video is very informative. Thanks!
This has been a huge help to me. I am going to be boxing in some ugly pipes but have 0 experience. So at least now I know how to start to use a saw. Awesome ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you for the comment. Enjoy the build.
Thank you for teaching how to use it. Great video!
really useful. I'm a proper newbie, just about to by my first saw and was very concerned about getting it right. Now need to buy one.
Good luck!
I was able to cut a "perfectly" straight piece of cabinet trim with a circular saw using a clamped 2x4 as a guide. It can be done!
You're a good teacher. I'm needing to make some nest boxes for my rabbits and your videos give me the confidence to give it a try on my own. Thank you! :)
Thank you very much. Let me know if you have any questions once you start to build.
i was scared not no much anymore thanks!!
Very good video and well thought of all minute and practical details.
i remember working in construction at 17yr old and i was helping cut 2x4s for the framers. One of them was quick enough to stop me as i was about to cut with the stud supported on each end. The stud was going to bind and shoot the circ saw back at me. I learned a valuable lesson that day lol
I've had similar experiences as well... thanks for sharing.
Glad to help!
Great beginning video for using a circular saw! Just what I’ve been looking for!

Thanks for these tutorials, part I & II stay blessed.
Same to you!
I’ve learn something new today.. hope you could show how to use the other tools. Tnx GB
