- hiii wolf pack!! welcome back to a brand new video. This is a chaotic one.. involving my family is always this way, haha. I tried my best to capture some of the special moments shared during this surf fishing tournament trip. We had fun, caught some fish and will be back better next year!

The fish may be secondary, but the connection with loved ones is primary and most important. Glad to see that! There is nothing like fishing in this world. It is an art for some, a sport for others, but it’s indefinable for many. It’s an enigma to most people and something that makes them feel closer to themselves. 🤞

Fishing the southern tip of Okracoke island is my favorite memory 1974. An old man had a ferry,we took our Chevy Blazer on the island and camped for the weekend. Beer, wine, fishing and someone was always cooking. We were all Marines. I have never laughed so much in my life 8 of us, a perfect memory!!! O yes we all got our limit, fish, booze, laughter, great food and a lifetime memory 4 times.

Spent a few days on the South core banks earlier this week, rented a Kubota from the fine folks at Davis Ferry and rode the entire island down to the point and back up to the Northern inlet……what a beautiful area

What a wonderful family fishing gig gathering. It was great to see your mom (fishing partner) and dad (fishing hunting partner). Better luck next year.
Fished the Nags Head and other tourneys back in the 90’s. Won the Ocracoke tourney in the late 90’s. They were always super fun, lots of great stories and plenty of hangovers to nurse.

Hello Heidi it is nice to see your mom and dad Always cherish them this is coming from somebody that has lost both parents at a early age I wish all the time they were here to talk to when I have nobody to go to cherish them. I was in an accident which I was almost killed I have had over 30 surgeries and the likelihood of me ever getting out again to hunt is probably not in the cards but I will say I love watching your old hunting and fishing videos those are classic to me thank you Heidi But I watch the older videos of you at your farmhouse fishing the Harm pond and hunting the deer And putting up that big blind with your mom dad and your Grandma those are classic videos to me thank you for letting me share that experience with your family thank you Matt from Michigan 😊😊😊😊😊

I fished this tournament a couple of times years ago both on a team and as individual angler. Using cut bait was always best for scoreable fish. I have found that using both spot, kingfish, croaker heads will catch you some bigger reds -bigger blues if they were around. When on team fishing we would have each person fish different rigs, baits, weights and hook sizes until someone got dialed in then slowly change each persons rigs to the ones that were catching. At least 2-3 anglers would fish top and bottom rigs tied with 30-40 lb flouro leader. 5-6” dropper loops used on leader tied 18-24” apart using a 4/0-7/0 gamakatsu circle hooks on the top dropper and 1/0-2/0 tied to bottom dropper loop using whole shrimp. The smaller hook would catch bottom fish like flounder, kings, croakers, trout, blues and some other fish and if you catch one on the bottom immediately cut it up (except flounder) and cut head off attach to upper bigger hook and 3-4” strip of same fish on bottom hook and cast out to same area. We have been very lucky down there using this method catching reds to 30lbs and big blues in the teens when they are around. We also use sputnik sinkers when conditions look like you may have had with stronger then normal current. Pyramids (like you look like you were using) or tongue when not much current work well.Can use ounce or 2 lighter sinker with sputnik.
Also was nice to say a prayer before your meal! That’s something you do not see much anymore👍🏻
Its was still a good finish for you guys considering the amount of teams that fish this event and a shame you did not get 2 sessions each day but the beach conditions can be real tricky and change daily better luck next year.

We could get Halibut at 10Lbs to 20Lbs. Those were the days.
