This movie was really good and Jennifer Lawrence should have been nominated for an Oscar.
This movie deserves more recognition. The performances (actors) were incredible, the plot is very original and interesting. The cinematography is really beyond words with that camara 16mm . You always will feel fear and more. It´s an art house movie
It's not even a horror film to be honest, it's a movie of about symbolism. Jennifer is Mother Earth, Javier is God, and there is Kain and Able, Jesus, and just a whole lot of symbolism about the wrongs of humanity
The baby. The offer of sacrifice for the sins. The literal eating of the body of Christ.

Sad a lot of people will not see the Mother film for what it was. Powerful and debatable. It was more of Art . Hard to see and observe. People turning heads away from this movie are basically Turing heads away from the REAL big problem us as Living humans will face. Forget about religion , politics ,celebrates lives, etc . Keep our Earth turning as long as we can . Put back what we take

Javier Bardem chewed up the scenery and spit out if in this movie 🎬 alongside the creepy but strong performances by Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer. Jennifer Lawrence was very believable in her role too.

Actually, as of Sept. 17, 2017, Box Office Mojo claims the film has earned 13.5 Million. Dvd and Blu-ray and pay-per-view sales should insure that this film will not lose money.

"Mother" was a fine and artsy movie. But as far as horror-haven't been so disappointed in a long time. I'm very bored of art movies pretending to be horror movies. I love them once in a while, but I really want a unique, disturbing movie not based on a book or a remake, good luck huh? LOL! I was hoping for a horror movie-I got a big movie about religious allegories. Yeah. It's a good movie for sure and I appreciate how different it was. However, when I go to a horror movies-I'd like to be scared and I'd like a movie that makes sense. I think I'll re-watch "Black Swan" and "The Witch." Both awesome horror movies with art-house themes.

Sick and demented and mostly psychotic...
With many high caliber actors in this movie. I was shocked at their willingness to be apart of this atrocious film. Aside from Jennifer Lawrence the acting was pathetic, as well as the plot. Javier Bardem who is a great actor in other films, completely bombs out in this one. The psychotic plot is ridiculous, and the Biblical implications are nothing short of insanity.
Beware, this movie will offend and upset you whether you're religious or not.
I absolutely agree I felt sick when I saw the ending. I literally did feel as if I had been assaulted by being tricked into watching some sick disturbing psychotic ritual (baby being torn apart and eaten)

No US president is responsible for buying a family a new place to live, The government needs to keep their hands out of our pockets except for Military, the gas (hwy fuel usage tax) covers our fixing and rebuilding roads and the public school system is a joke, so is the US post office etc. If you can't afford homeowners insurance or flood insurance, you simply don't buy a home, buy a couple acres and build you a house.

Maybe, but its budget is fairly low, and this type of film's success typically depends on word of mouth and good reviews so I bet this film will make some money. Plus, the movie has a good cast and a good director and even has good reviews as of now, so I'm sure it'll make a profit in the end.
That's all well and good, but for me, I'm just really sick of Jennifer Lawrence, so I have no desire to see an artsy horror film featuring her.

To be honest, I wouldn't want to see it even with a different actor. It doesn't look the least bit interesting to me, and throwing in a couple of shock scenes at the end won't change that.

Dixie Davidson it was only a flop because it's a different movie. It's not your typical horror movie and it's so unlike other movies Jennifer Lawrence has been in. That DEFINITELY doesn't mean it's a bad movie, but I think it's very subjective and I understand why some people hated it. I wish it wasn't marketed and advertised as a horror/thriller movie, that might've helped. But personally I loved it and I wish there were so many more movies like this.

I couldn't fully watch this interview. The lady interviewing her is awful and impossible to view for me. Her facial expressions and showing her teeth very aggressively is absolutely disturbing. Is that normal for her? So weird.
