There has been several times in my work that I (a female) have been paid less than the men doing the same job. In 2001 they just gave me a different job title, even though I did the same thing, plus more. Even today I make far less then the 2 guys I work with, plus I have a degree, one of them does not and after working with them, I obviously have more experience. I also have certifications, neither of them have any certs.

No, it hasn't been debunked. The pay gap exists, and the fact that women find themselves in lower paid fields doesn't debunk that women make less money. The data was simply misrepresented at the beginning with the assumption that women always make less for the exact same jobs and the exact same hours (though that does happen often, it is only a small part of the overall problem). There are also societal issues in that traditional "men's work" is viewed as higher value than traditional "women's work". Women are encouraged into caregiving roles, psychology-based careers, and the arts, which tend to pay a lot less. In most countries nurses are paid less than general labour construction workers (about the same here in Canada where I am, while plumbers and engineers make much much more - but nursing is better paid in the US ). So it has to do with the type of careers women are encouraged to pursue, as well as the systemic undervaluing of caregiving roles as "less valuable" and worth less pay. Also women have been proven to do (and be expected to do) more unpaid work throughout the world, ranging from an hour more every day to six hours more every day compared to men, taking on parental and household responsibilities significantly more often: so they are doing more work for free. There are a lot of complex reasons the pay gap exists, and I encourage you to do your own research since I can't fit years worth of research and info in a youtube comment, lol, but it's worth looking into the nuances of the social reasons for this pay gap in further detail. The fact of the matter is, women make about 25% less than men, and more women live below the poverty line in every country in the world, that data proves there absolutely is a pay-gap, whatever the reasons for it. In the industry Jennifer Lawrence is in, women are paid less for the exact same work.

Can you please provide scientific studies published by independent bodies that conclusively prove climate change is not "real"? No science is "real", it is proven using a systematic logic and mathematical models. The recent changes in the last 50 odd years in our climate have been repeatedly linked to human activity via something called establishing a cause and effect relationship. Check out the Royal Society's papers on that, or better yet, Trump's own funded NASA. He funds it right? Why does he? Why does he not shut down their climate change studies if it is all "fake". because it is not fake, and he is smart enough to know it too. Problem is he is capitalistic, like most of America is, and capitalism is founded on the principles of complexity and chaos. Consumerism is a perfect example of the amount of complexity that has been built into our lives physically and mentally, all fueled by capitalism. He has to be President for maximum of 8 years and mostly die soon after. He cares about making companies very happy during these 8 years, so he will go gung-ho in support of them and rebuke climate change, pull a stunt with the Paris agreement. I dare him to stop funding of all climate change studies underway currently at several publicly funded universities and institutions in America and rebuke them as fake. Why is he spending hard earned American tax dollars on fake useless studies? Because he is much smarter and cleverer than people give him credit for. He is here to be President for 8 years, not to save our planet or have any visionary goal for the world. He is clever, but he is not leader material, just a selfish asshole.

Why do you just not give the scientific evidence that debunks the link instead or repeatedly throwing around vernacular? Trump and literally every politician knows how climate change has been linked to human activity- of course climate has changed over centuries, but there was no science in those times. Now there is. Few years ago, there was this Sony hack, which revealed many confidential emails between producers and revealed how much different actors were paid for their work, which revealed that Jennifer was paid way less than her male counterparts despite being huge star and an Oscar winner.Other actresses who were paid less were revealed too. She expressed herself at that time that it was not fair. Passenger came afterwards, which obviously took everything that had happened into account and paid her according to her star status and ofcourse after all that revelation she herself would not have settled for less. They here in this interview are talking in context of that event.

I don't understand why so many people are calling her an idiot because of this! She was asked a question to which she very sensibly replied. What I don't think some of you realise is that she is making reference to Trump pulling out of the Paris Climate Change Agreement, how he 'doesn't believe in climate change', and his encouragement towards white collar workers in coal factories polluting the environment. This year isn't even an el Niño year and yet there have been numerous T10s to hit South East Asia and some of the largest ever recorded hurricanes ever in the Atlantic. You can't deny the facts! Climate change is real people!!!

She spoke truthfully and deeply about these issues THAT ARE ISSUES. Humanity, and especially America, has got to stop living in this artificial bubble of materialism and image. Nature is our roots, this is the truth. We are not separate or of different matter than nature, we are nature and, as a species, we have become so disgustingly distant from our origin. This is why we are so insensitive and careless toward our planet. We have forgotten our mother, so we destroy her and yes, metaphorically she is angry, hence the increase in natural disasters. It is our fault these disasters are happening, and that they are on the rise. I can't believe we are still trying to hop around the issue of the environment and the harm we have done to our planet. So I asked for the actual quote and all I get is what she allegedly "meant." Which means there is nothing. So let's consider what she "meant." The reporter quoted the director and asked about their being a sense of the end of days, particularly in the political changes in the US. Jennifer then stated that human created climate change is scientifically real but that we ignore it and stated that we are watching these hurricanes now and that it is hard not to feel mother natures rage. Which means only the general idea that climate change is a natural reaction to human behavior/abuse, again that climate change is real. That's it. The notion that she "meant" that nature is retaliating for Trump being elected or that this was due to Trump's election is complete nonsense requiring putting words in her mouth and leaping over more direct meanings. Rather it is a lament about the issue being politically ignored. In other words, the accusation is complete bs.

I workin a coal mine, worked with some women in the past that have been tough and earned the pay there is no gap. Jobs were based on skill or what job you do. There are many companies that don't have gaps. Only one time I have been a part of bs at work, was a factory job that had to fill a women quota for supervisory role. I was more educated and held more skills, more qualified. Honest days pay for honest days work.

I believe she is being taken out of context. She's trying to say that "Mother nature's rage" is a result of anthropogenic climate change. She phrased that poorly, and clumsily tossed in voting in the middle, which made the argument sound like, "Mother nature is a sentient, cognizant being that is responding to your political views."
Instead, she's trying to say, "Climate change is partially caused by us, and I think we see our effects in this current hurricane season; unfortunately, we have voted against taking definitive action to reverse climate change." Agree with her or disagree, she's not saying what you think she is.

Well, I watched and listened to the interview very carefully and Jennifer Lawrence did not blame trump for the hurricane and she was quoting the director with the "howl at the moon.." statement. As much i think the way she put what she said was very dumb, but I have to admit I think i get what she said and it's not what you think. When she said mother natures "wrath" she more so used it in symbolic way rather than a literal way. Because, yes hurricanes are natural thing to happen but the common recurrence of them is not and is due to climate change , which is yes , human caused. That's where she was completely right. Now what she meant when she said wrath is reference to trumps's carelessness of the subject matter and ignorance in it , since he has stated that he thinks it's "a lie that China made" (and you thought jen was dumb) and more so he keeps building and planning project that put the earth in danger , not to mention his withdraw for Paris agreement and USA is one of the most pollution- producing country in the world. I'm not defending her , I actually don't think she should've linked such sad subject to a controversial one but I think y'all judged to hard , even on her. Howmuch you earn is totally down to how well you negotiate , and what value you bring. You bring in clients, you do good work, you ask for more. Maybe you get more.
