Hearing her process, she is obviously and truly gifted. Glad to hear she's found new challenges. I remember after Winter's Bone just asking myself "who is this girl??" then being completely shocked meeting Jennifer Lawrence through the press, she was a completely different person!
Looking forward to her new film. Thanks for this respectful interview that (cuts out all the bullshit) and focuses on the craft, Vice.

      from wikipedia
In an interview, Lawrence stated that the film is an allegory; she said that the film "depicts the rape and torment of Mother Earth ... I represent Mother Earth; Javier, whose character is a poet, represents a form of God, a creator; Michelle Pfeiffer is an Eve to Ed Harris's Adam, there's Cain and Abel and the setting sometimes resembles the Garden of Eden".[6]
Aronofsky said that the exclamation mark in the title "reflects the spirit of the film" and corresponds to an "exclamation point" of the ending. The director discussed the film's unusual choice of not capitalising the letter 'm' in the title during a Reddit interview, saying, "To find out why there's a lowercase 'm', read the credits and look for the letter that is capitalised. Ask yourself what's another name for this character?" The characters' names are all shown in lowercase, except for Him.[6]
The lighter which appears throughout the film bears the Wendehorn, a symbol that represents "the cooperation between nature's eternal laws, working in effect and in accordance with each other." One of the film's unexplained elements is the yellow powder Lawrence's character drinks, which The Daily Beast suggests is a reference to Charlotte Perkins Gilman's short story "The Yellow Wallpaper".[6]

@@janaslili stop letting satanic people define who God is. I watched the film, it was clearly a disgusting depiction of God. The person who wrote it is sick and clearly is biased to believe this is what Christianity is. A sick cult. Little did they know the person who wrote it was probably involved in some sort of satanism. Right (Now im crazy) This shit is real. If you read the gospel, you'd understand that Jesus wasn't just human. He was God in human form. He is God. What they were doing is satanic practice. Usually involves sexual practices and children (God's innocent creation). Jesus loves children and He told us we must become like them to enter the kingdom of heaven. Satan takes the innocence of a child, and destroys it. That is why there are so many pedophiles and satanic people in hollywood. (Pizzagate) You can say. it's not real. But you probably didn't know that Hillary Clinton was recently in court for mutilating and murdering a ten year old kid. You guys have no idea what's happening and whats real or not. Some of your favorite celebrities are part of it. Isaac Kappy warned us. Then all of a sudden he 'Committed Suicide' same with Kurt Cobain. You all need Jesus because this world is filled with unimaginable evil and you guys will be brainwashed to believe it's not by the people you admire on tv. Pretty sure the writer in this film is part of it all. Look up Isaac Kappy, he called the celebs out. He died days later.

      Here's what she said:
"...climate change is due to human activity and we continue to ignore it and the only voice that we really have is through voting. And we voted, and it was really startling. You know, you’re watching these hurricanes now, and it’s really - it’s hard, especially while promoting this movie not to feel Mother Nature’s rage, or wrath."
So, yes, there's a clear implication that voting for Trump is voting for hurricanes.

LOL jackpicks, you and all the right wing news seem to have comprehension issues, and I'm not even a liberal. It is fairly well established that climate change, whether you believe it is man made or not, is going to result in much worse hurricanes. All she's saying is that she is disappointed with how the people voted given Trump's stance on climate change. It's a dumb way to frame her issue because people voted for many reasons, climate change was frankly the least of people's worries at that point...but surely you can figure out what she's trying to say there without putting words in her mouth.

I would expect a 10 yr old to say something like that. I would never go to one of her films!

JG Harts No she didn't. Fake News. Although of course, as long as it fits your worldview, you're willing to believe anything.

LordOfJoy My world view?? Look moron I'm got more degrees on my wall for researching. I do my homework probably unlike you who watches Fake News. When CNN has lower ratings then Yogi Bear reruns but they don't have Fake News, right...She has been an outspoken libatard like yourself and you think it's Fake News!!! I doubt it when you have such an attitude that she has.

JG Harts I don't watch CNN. All news and all media exaggerate to generate emotions. Which definitely worked on you if you believe that Trump causes hurricanes bullshit. I don't need to classify myself as conservative or liberal, I'm able to create own opinions. By the way, if liberals are libtards, then republicans are retards.

JG Harts I honestly hope that as many Trump-voting climate change deniers die as possible from Harvey and Irma. It's what they deserve. My heart goes out to the decent people living in those places that have lost so much.

As an actress, she is AMAZING to say the least. However the film Mother! Itself was a bit (or a lot) over the top. It was crossing so many lines yet the metaphoric meaning does kinda make sense when studying the characters. But you definitely have to watch it with the meaning behind it already in mind so it doesn’t make you feel like “what in the world did I just watch?” and feel so disturbed by it. I hope Jennifer wasn’t affected by the acting because she really did act it out phenomenally and so believable.

If you weren't interested in what she has to say you wouldn't care about her politics and therefore wouldnt waste your time commenting on videos. You want to belittle her and her opinions so you clearly care about what she has to say (not necessarily what she says in this video but what she has said in the past). Also im going to assume you're using something like google alerts to be able to comment negatively on anything that's posted with her in. That's why the comment section is full of people with the exact same opinion as you. I doubt you or most of these people are subscribed to a left leaning channel like Vice.

I've always been a fan of her as a person but I was of the opinion that she is slightly overrated as an actress, until I saw this film. She really is amazing in this film, the slow build of the destruction of her character is masterfully played, it will make you want to scratch your eyes out how patient her character is until suddenly she isn't. I hated watching this film but actually that's the point, if you hated it then it's a job well done.

The house is the UTERO. The house is the metaphor of the NARCISSIST MOTHER
Narcissistic dysfunctional families through the element of triangulation produce division between the children ... there is a good son (the golden boy) and a bad son (the scapegoat).
The scapegoat acquires a submissive personality (traumatized). The golden child acquires an arrogant personality (also traumatized) ... usually becomes narcissistic in maturity and repeats stereotypes.
Both protagonists are children of narcissistic mothers (two different) ... but the POET was a golden child and the POET'S WIFE was a scapegoat.
Scapegoats with insecure, complacent and submissive personalities ... tend to repeat the story and marry narcissistic couples
    THESE two have been found
The narcissistic poet is nobody by himself, only a reflection of the people who adore him ... who ends up vampirizing. He does not want anyone, he only uses people for his benefit. RECEIVE from the people until their victims have no more to give ... Then start with another new victim
The guests are another narcissistic family: the man is the submissive and the woman is the narcissist ... they have two children a scapegoat who they leave without inheritance and ends up killing their brother who is the golden child of that visiting family.
The scapegoat can run away, escape the family. The golden boy in return will never get it
The narcissist never has enough. The people for him are trophies that he owns. Cannibalize his worshipers (water scene and the wound of the visitor's gossip) ... but he needs them ... he can not live without them because they are the adulation, the fame, the glory and the success that alone does not get deserved.
The body of the devoured baby is an allegory of how fame ends up devouring its chosen ones
The blood on the floor of the house is a metaphor for the bleeding vagina of the MOTHER (menstruation)
When the poet's wife begins to understand the reality of who her husband is ... she tries to escape ... and that is the moment when the house begins to be destroyed ....
The victim who is a scapegoat can get strength to escape as he discovers the truth ... (metaphor the house burns completely) .... the poet will be left with nothing again ... so he kills her Save your love as a trophy to exhibit in a showcase
The story begins again with a new victim SUMISA who will rebuild the poet's house again and end up delivering everything to the NARCISSIST of turn
