I would like to thank you for all the time you put into telling us about your bug out bag. Every time you unloaded a pouch I felt bad that you had to put all that back in it's meticulous little place. Being in California since 1989, you would think I would be "smart enough" to at least have an earthquake bag ready. After watching all 3 of your bug out bag videos, I am inspired to put something together for myself, husband and my animals. Thank you for all your hard work.

Number one thing I see here vs. other channels is everything you put together has purpose, redundancy and is clearly organized. Bravo sir

Your focus on the importance of the psychology of survival is spot on! Entertainment and morale cannot be stressed enough. Thanks so much for your video series.

All I can say is that I have watched several different videos from several sources, and yours are the absolute best. The planning and execution of your video projects goes beyond what others do and the finished product reflects that. I have learned so much and I am grateful for having the opportunity to see them. I will be watching them several times. Cheers and all the best on your future projects.

The most comprehensive bug out bag video I have EVER seen. A lot of the items are a little to expensive for a lot of us, so concessions will have to be made, never the less I can see a lot of time and effort went into providing this information and I, for one am, extremely grateful....THANK YOU!

SWEET! Very well done! Thank you for taking the time to explore the URBAN aspect of bugging out. Moreover, thanks also for fulling my OCD fix on a near weekly basis for the past year. I love how well thought out and practical your B.O.B. is. Your journey has been quite helpful. Can't wait for your product reviews on the SPOT and Ham Radio!

Easily the best BOB video on youtube. You really have done your viewers a service with PDF and wealth of information. I plan on printing it soon to use as a idea guide and checklist, as I recently started my own project. Im impressed that the bag weighs less than fifty pounds despite the amount of redundancy and versatility. I have seen bags on youtube weighing 20 pounds more with only half the capability. I look forward to future revisions of this bag, and you already have an awesome start. This was clearly very well thought out. Thanks for the awesome series and good luck if you ever find yourself in a SHTF scenario. Cheers!

@@TheUrbanPrepper Are you serious ? The best BOB video on RUclips ? Lmao !!! He has a cot with a emergency blanket for a sleep system ! Not going to be comfortable one bit ! Everything, gadget, item doesn't need it's own little stuff bag or container to put in ! You would probably save a pound or two in just stuff sacks and containers ! It is kind of well thought out , organized very nice but just reading and putting things in a BOB instead of actually having experience, knowledge of using everything carried in the bag is a another thing !

literally the most comprehensive bob ive ever seen. I own several 511 bags and use them mostly for travel, range and overnight situations. my own bobs of which ive made 2. one for the jeep;1 in my apt& covers nearly all aspects primarily emphasizing on first aid, food and hydration/survival in uraban env. but the packs i chose for both looks nothing like i would be carrying anything useful. in a bug out sit, i look just like everyone else.hope u have some e&e training.awesome vid. KILLER KIT!!

The one thing you might want to consider adding to your first aid kit would be eye-wash sticks. You mention wanting having preps for a volcano event, so eye-wash saline is extra specially important.

  • @TheUrbanPrepper
    @TheUrbanPrepper  12 лет назад

I agree that this kit is on the extreme side. I like following the motto "go bug or go home". I have some videos scheduled this year which documents how far I could travel with this bag while on foot. I am going to be with my family and have some alternate carry methods planned which will assist if I ever need to take a break from lugging this bag around. You're right. So many things to think about. No bag will be perfect or equally suited for everyone. It's all very custom. Thanks for watching.

Thank you SO much for commenting and coming out of hiding. I really appreciate the kind words. Thank you for sticking around for this process!

Well done. Very thorough. So many people build BOB's as if they were going camping; much different than a survival situation. Your gear is also organized well...I am going to take that to my own BOB by making and labeling smaller bags to make grabbing the right bad easier in a panic situation. Appreciate all the time it took to make this 3 part series. Keep up the good work!

I really enjoyed your video presentation of your bug out bag. Obviously, you put a lot of thought and effort (not to mention money) into it. What impressed me was not the choices of things that went into the bag, but your organizational skills. That is a department in which I am sorely lacking. Even if I had a bag like yours I would likely forget where I put it. Luckily a lifetime of being completely unprepared has made me resourceful and creative. Thanks for the video.

Reading through the comments it is clear a lot of people may have missed what I perceived as the intent of this massive undertaking. To show what "Can" be carried in a reasonable manner. Now my kit is not nearly as extensive but I was initially trained in the Marines that my knife is my kit. I have obviously expanded on that as I have gotten older and fatter.. LOL.. I now carry 3 knives....
The main point I got from this was a TON of things I had never even thought of before that I will definitely be adding to my big kit. That in and of itself is PRICELESS and I thank you for that!!!!
What you have done is add tremendously to our community with your work, knowledge and awesome organizational skills...

Definitely one of the most detailed BOB videos I've seen. Some things seemed a bit overkill to me, but considering the amount of space in the bag, it's like "why NOT carry it?". The explanations of the items helped me out quite a bit, some of them being completely new ideas to me. And the PDF was incredibly helpful. Very well done, sir. Thanks.

Oh I was only referring the the video's in regard to the B.O.B. but I will certainly be taking a look at your other ones, due to your meticulous nature in the equipment you've selected. I can appreciate the organization (I tend to be a little OCD myself) as well as that not every Item is the "top of the line" most expensive thing on the shelf, 90% of these items are in my hiking/camping gear as we speak. Also, thanks for the PDF as I'll be starting my bag once I return home!

I enjoyed the video. I was impressed with the medical/first aid bag. As a former paramedic I would recommend a pair of heavy duty trauma shears aka penny cutters, as well as a good pair of bandage scissors. Both of these can be purchased online or from a nursing uniform store. I am afraid the Phiskar's will not be enough to cut through heavy clothing.

Thank you for posting an extremely helpful, comprehensive and organized set of videos. Having the PFSs is fantastic. Far and away the most useful prepping info I've come across on the net. You should consider self-publishing an ebook detailing your thoughts and experiences re prepping. I was in the Marine Corps and had a similar set-up then. Thank you for your comments. I don't believe that all bug out scenarios are for "SHTF", where I will need to "drop the deuce and bounce". Everyone's bag is tailor made for what they feel they need to prepare for. This is what mine looks like. I would like to see yours if you have a link available. I'm always looking for new ideas. BTW, I have multiple whistles because I have a wife and child, and would be able to distribute them to aid in our communication if needed. Take care.

You may want to add some tums, Pepcid or Tagamet to settle your stomach. Nausea can be quite debilitating (reglan is good for that). Also, the mask you have included is not an N95, you can get one that folds flat. I like that you paid attention to keeping your head warm and dry. People underestimate the amount of heat loss from one's head. In order to keep warm enough I would need to add a fleece layer. Thanks for sharing such a informative, thought provoking, and resourceful video.

This is the greatest thought out BOB I've ever seen. There are a couple of things I've thought of you might want to consider, first with your swim goggles, you should add a pair of swimmers nose clamps, as they coupled with the goggles can help you get through tear gas, and finally a security officers badge, this can help you get through some lines that may be closed off to you. Since your bag looks tactical you could pull it off. Great Job bud.

So God bless you, just be yourself and please no guns theres a lot of crazy nuts out there. Loved every minute of your videos. BEAUTIFUL

Thank you. I really enjoyed your serious and already can't wait for 2.1!!!
Oh and wearing knee pads as you hike restricts circulation and tires out your legs quicker so you may want to clip them onto your pants or pack when you're not kneeling instead of putting them on with your bug out clothes load out.

I have my Weapons Compartment explanation listed in the PDF and the Weapons video. It's a topic that I feel is best to not disclose publicly for various reasons.

Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for the PDF, too. While I doubt I'll use all your neat stuff, I do plan to adapt and create a BoB of my own. Thank you for all your time investigating these items!

Plenty of socks, excellent, I can't emphasize their importance enough. Last time in Lapland I got my socks wet in every walk and then once burned them by the fireplace when drying them... I now carry a vacuumed pair in my EDC. No sleeping bag? It can get well under 40°F in Seattle in a winter night, which I promise you can't sleep in without a good 3-season bag. Even avg 55°F summer nights can be uneasy. Keeping fire all night, if at all possible, is a bad option (maintenance, sparks, etc).

Some really clever ideas, some of which I will use for my walking kit bag and my MTB kit bags. One tiny little suggestion if I may, Ray Mears once suggested that a fire starting tool should be kept on a chord around the neck. I always thought that was a good suggestion. Great vid

(cont)... I think everyone will be a target, but I will look into appearing more gray. I have a Baby BOB for Baby Prepper as well as some a BOB stroller that he enjoys riding in. It is capable of steering through multiple terrain. Thanks for the comment!

Great series. Currently working on my EDC bag. Can't wait to start my Bob. Thanks for your videos.

That would be daunting, but I'd be up for it if asked. I just feel like a normal prepper like anyone else. I would never consider myself an expert in the subject. There's still so much to learn!

I am really enjoying your series. I will be using some of your ideas myself. Just a couple of quick observations. One, You can ditch either the Advil or the the Motrin. Both are the same drug. Second, reserve the Benadryl for allergic reactions, and use either Claritin or Allegra. Both are better choices for allergies. Neither of these passes the Blood Brain Barrier to cause sedation. Drowsiness is the last thing you want in a survival situation.
    Just my opinion.
Have Fun and Be Safe :)

Great video, I'm just starting to put my bag together and you gave me some ideas on organization . Your the first person that I have seen use a vacuum sealer. I've use mine for many items such as otc meds, and batteries etc., it's a great way to save space.

I have several bug out locations planned out in various directions, depending on the specific emergency. I hope to live no longer than 72 hours out of my BOB, but think I could get by for a week if needed. I'll reach my goal weight on < 35 lbs for version 2.1. Main rain gear consists of ultralight rain jacket, umbrella, cold weather clothes. I removed the rain pants due to space issues, but may integrate it back for 2.1. The boots are not waterproof.

WOW!!! Never seen such a well organized, extensive and well thought out BOB. The only things I can think of adding would be some 1200 grit sandpaper. Good for sharpening tools and if you have some dry and cracked feet skin. Not sure about laws in Seattle but also a handgun ammo.

Why didn't I watch this sooner?!
Since I am just beginning with my "bug out bag", I'm sure I will be watching your videos repeatedly. I admire your attention to detail. Thanks for making this highly inspirational video. I see a lot of the products that I've been interested in, within. Off to Amazon.com!

I choose not to make that aspect of my prepping public (aka "personal protection"). I'm glad you enjoyed the video and that some of the information was able to be leveraged for your own BOB. Thanks!

I have to say, this is the most thought through video I've watched to date. Gave me alot of ideas for my EDC as well as my BoB as I'm in a mixed urban/suburban area. The only addition, and this is purely personal preference is a pistol.

I think this is the best overall video series I have seen thus far on bug out bags. Plus, I'm an organization freak like you obviously are too, lol. I downloaded the pdf instantly and went to work. Thanks...

I have tested the majority of the gear in this back and have some mock bug out videos planned for 2013. Since I live in an Urban environment, the woods would be fairly remote for me and my BOB is not specifically designed for it. An example of a bug out scenario for me is if there was a major earthquake and I needed to evacuate my home before it collapsed. I wouldn't just take off for the woods if that happened and drop deuces. :) BTW, I also have a Ultralight Urban BOB in the works. Stay tuned!

In my BOB, I'm a lot more equiped in tools... I live near farmlands and woodlands so an axe, a hand saw, a shovel and some knives are necessary for survival... I also live in eastern Canada where winters can be harsh and unpredictable, so I'm also equipped for that... but even then I'm pretty jealouse of your kit..! :P has some pretty handy equipement! Totally convinced me to equip myself more for urban areas and when I go to montreal... once again, I love your vids!
