This is so smart! And a brilliant use of the new gizmo feature. I am so happy you figured this out and thank you for sharing. This adds a whole new dimension to tools in ZBrush! Love you starting now with a simple sphere and controlling how you stretch and manipulate- - made my day!
This is is a real gold mine. Not that many people are attempting scroll relief work with ZBrush especially in a full 3D method. So glad to see the comments and replies that help describe the affect of focal shift and the fall off effect. Funny thing I stumbled upon the effect by accident and thought wowee this could be super fabulous. But I couldn't figure out how I did it. Fall off effect was the focal shift as Nacho describes in comment reply. Also like the interpreted scribe lines. Great effect considering this is done in engraving as a shadow affect. Thanks Nacho your an inspiration!!!🎉 BTW... General note we can mask the tip on the opposite end of a scroll to anchor it.
In ZBrush create a cylinder convert it to a polymath 3D select the Gizmo tool Move. Rotate, scale, Option click on the spot to say Move the 3D Gizmo then adjust the focal Shift slider to anything over -100 then rotate or move the direction you wish to go.
It is maddening how well that works for you. I cannot get the precision you have. Mine moves almost the entire object throughout the process and I cannot really guess where it will continue to go. How are you constraining it to the very small area that you are? Awesome work though. so fast.
well, I just figured out my own answer. your object must just be larger than mine. Once I saw you have the gizmo centered and then tested the twist of the falloff, I realized I should do that to first gauge the actual movement it will have. Then I had to increase my focal shift to around 90 to get the same reaction. Thanks for the insperation to try this method. It will come in handy. Especially with the bas relief tools available.
hello I'm following your exercise, but what button do you use to stretch the hedgehog together with the GZIMO. sorry but I just started :))))) thank you very much
Hi! You don't need to press any button, just use the Gizmo in combination with the Focal Shift, so you will different falloff effects with positive values, higher values will affect less mesh portion, for the ending tips for example
It was anew feature intoduced in the 2022 version, the new Gizmo falloff deformation, you just need to adjust the Focal Shift to values above 0 (by default it os -100) for getting that deformations effect
Hi Nacho! Will this replace your transpose line work flow for creating these Baroque Elements? I am currently watching your 21st October stream about Baroque Elements and it seems to be out of date already!!!
Hola, disculpe la consulta. Estoy empezando a modelar con Zbrush pero cuando intento hacer que la forma se curve como en el video, no puedo, ya que se gira todo el solido. Podría brindarme alguna ayuda? se que es una consulta básica, disculpe.
Wow I never thought to use the transpose with focal shift to create scrolls! Thanks for the ideas

Amazing. I like the precision.
Thanks! Well there were many trial and error :p
It would really be nice is someone put out a video on just how this is done for real with sound and narration something people could follow.

Hi, the key is the Focal Shift values ( positive values) the higher less area is afected, the lower you can move more surface, hope this helps
interesting technique. thanks for sharing
My pleasure!
wonderful
Thank you!!
thank you for this! what is the 2nd brush you are using that creates those hard angles with shadows?
Thaks for comment! It's the Scribe Std Brush
I am also tried is enter object will rotating
How do you deform by Gizmo(rotate, move) without masking?
Using different values of tthe Focal Shift
@@NachoRiesco How? I tried but it will move all.
First of all you need the version 2022 or higher, then it shoud work using values different from default -100, try to set it to 0
Nice!
What would be the equivalent to this but in blender?
I have no idea
Increible trabajo, debo aprender zbrush
Muchas gracias! Es una herramienta increíble

Hahaha , it's very useful for that! Thank you!!
But the gizmo is broken rn :/ is there is switch for this broken gizmo?
What do you mean?
This is Engrave immitation. I mean this too, as I saw Interpolation stroke.
Yes, good eye...That was the idea
What brush did I use that starts with S?
It's not a brush, you just have to use the Gizmo adjusting the Focal Shift with positive values
@@NachoRiesco I was talking about the brush that I've been using since 3:20.
