    Hello, very nice tutorial. You are doing a great job by sharing your valuable knowledge.
    Can you show a video on determination of bearing capacity of shallow foundation using PLAXIS 2D?

    Sir, which point/node to select for this curve ? Node of soil or footing ?

    hello sir , i would like to know if we have to apply boundary conditions to the soil.

    hello sir, if i have some soil layers for borehole, should i create workplanes suitable to soil layers in borehole? or i just need to input depth of foundation and the latest depth of soil layers? thank you

    Hi dear
    what is the (sum-mist) that you multiply with Q =4000 ??
    I am doing the same problem with sigma/w but in 2D
    thank you so much

      Hello,
      this is the stage where the load is applied. for example, when Sum-Stage is 0.6, it means that at this point only sixty percent of the load has been applied to the foundation.

      @@GeoStructAcademy ok i got it, thank you so much.
      do you know how i can get these stages by sigma/w software ?

      @@salahahmed3457 I don't use that software right now

    Hi. Can you please tell me how to calculate the bearing capacity of the footing at failure point of the soil in the problem that you have shown.

    • @GeoStructAcademy
      @GeoStructAcademy  5 лет назад

      Hello. Usually The ultimate bearing capacity of shallow foundation is defined at the point where the load-settlement curve becomes practically linear.

    • @sunnykarmacharya
      @sunnykarmacharya 5 лет назад

      So for example if i wanted to compute the bearing capacity of the footing in the problem shown in the video what would be your recommendations? should I just increase the value of load ? also what are your recommendations in mesh selections. thank you.

    • @GeoStructAcademy
      @GeoStructAcademy  5 лет назад

      in this example, it is clear when the intensity of the load reaches 500 kN/m2, the load-settlement curve almost becomes linear. so we can say the ultimate bearing capacity is 500 kN/m2.

      thank you for answering my queries. I calculated the bearing capacity using vesic's equation for the given problem and got over 1000 kPa. I was hoping to get around the theoritical solution with FEM but have been unable to do so in 3D foundation.
