@@thesimyin Mac users will still be able to use origin technology ea app is just origin with a new skin because you can still login using your origin account I have mac and windows I have ea app on window and origin on my Mac but I do think it might be possible for them to out with ea play for Mac in few months
Personally I'm not switching until it's absolutely mandatory and I would suggest others to wait until then.This whole situation isn't worth experimenting with especially after hearing about other people having problems
You absolutely should back up your save files and go ahead and switch so that you’re not blind sided when it becomes mandatory and then accidentally lose your saves or something.

Tbh I spent a lot of money on origin and to think they shutting this down is crazy and is honestly not right that they are shutting it down when everyone spent tons of money on games in origin

I'm already at EA App, the accounts and purchases transfer automatically and the games don't even need to be downloaded again! as for being a paid app, it's not, EA App and EA Play are two different things
EA is a pain in the ass! I play offline and I don't allow origin in my game for auto updates my game doesn't lag. I hope I can do the same with this new app.
If this will be the case I literally refuse, I will just quit the game. That's it, I'll be done. I've been a loyal simmer since The Sims 1 and I love the game, but I will NEVER pay monthly for a game that is unreasonably expensive to begin with, especially considering it barely works as it's supposed to.

I don’t like that we are being forced to uninstall Origin in order to switch to the new app. I am worried that I will lose older games, and that this could eat up more of my already limited hard drive space. My confidence in EA is at an all time low.
You won't have to uninstall Origin. Nor will you lose anything. (Just in case back up your games first) Origin will convert to the EA app. Your stuff will transfer over. It works fine. I've been using it. Don't worry. 💙

You dont need to uninstall anything, EA app works just fine for me and when you install EA app, it automatically uninstalls Origin. Account will be back to where it is, no games were lost for me. It'll be okay :)
No it’s not lmao. You don’t even have to redownload the game, it’s a new launcher that takes 5 minutes to set up. It’s a poorly managed pain in the ass by EA but it is astounding to me that you people will just give up on 100’s of hours and 100’s of dollars instead of spending 30 minutes trouble shooting. I've been a lifelong simmer. I don't have faith in the EA app. My sims 2-4 is on Origin. If they're all not there, this might be the end of my simming journey. I play on both Mac and PC. If I have to pay for the EA app on top of this (idk never used it) then that's the final nail in the coffin for me.
How is the sims 4 on mac? I'm interested in getting one but I don't know how it might react to mods, cc and game packs. Is there a certain limit to it depending on how much storage you have for it to run smoothly?
Same here my sims 4 and 3 is on origins and if they disappear and they force me to pay a subscription to play the game then I'm just going to pirate the game I mean I hate doing that but they leave me no choice if they go down that route
@@ICBrandy its not horrible. as a mac simmer, here's some bullet points: - your screen will flicker with some static lines every once in a while from the strain if you have a lot of cc/mods. still works though -can't have reshade. if you struggle enjoying the original look of the game you may wanna steer clear -There's not really a hard limit..it's more like, the more stuff you have the worse it runs. My sims dont have horrible fps, but it def looks a little slower than the base game. You'll also have a longer start up time if youve got a lot of mods but i'm assuming that's for everyone. Me personally, the last time I played my mods folder was roughly 42 GB, and was located in my $40 external hard drive and the only downsides for me were: my startup takes roughly an hour to an hour and a half if i remember correctly, and my game is a *bit* choppy and slow movement wise. -also! if you're the type to get a LOT of cc/mods pls know that when you load up the game, if you've got a lot the loading screen will eventually freeze until it's done. it should still work though. it just stays frozen for a while. But if it did everything your laptop will like start fanning louder than before (like aggressively..i would recommend a fan pointed at it if youre worried 😅) and then you'll see the plumbob spinning again and the main menu should load 👍🏾at least in my experience My game doesn't run horribly though! Its just like slight inconveniences that i go through. (I have a macbook pro for context) So honestly you should be fine playing on here! I can't speak on its performance when it comes to just base game and a lot of DLC though. But I've got 7 expansions, 2 game packs, and 2 stuff packs. hope this helped your decision!
It’s just a new app to replace origin. You don’t have to pay monthly or whatever to use the new app it’s just a new version of origin like how ea used to have “Download manager” back in the day before origin. Ea play is a subscription service that ea advertises on both origin and the new ea app. It’s as simple and downloading the new installer and loading your games. It automatically uninstalls origin and sets your games up again.
oh thank God I was worried about that I personally have origin and I pay the membership and I hate it because I already have to pay for packs I don’t want to have to pay for a membership😭

I installed it the first time they showed EA to me and honestly it runs way smoother than origin did, the only problem I really have is sometimes it says I don’t have access to the sims cause it was downloaded on another device but I just restart it and it’s okay. I get that EA doesn’t have the best of reputations but it’s so annoying when people make such a big deal out of EVERY little move they make 💀
I would suggest for anyone worried about losing games, back up your save files and take screenshots of all of the games (+packs for sims, games packs, kits, etc) so you have proof of purchase in case it doesn’t transfer for some reason
Good thinking! There's also the emails confirming the purchase of games and packs, so that should help too should anything be missing. I'm so nervous about the switch. My entire Sims journey has been through Origin.
EA puts me in a constant state of anxiety. Origin would blur out the “play” button & not even let me try majority of the time. Haven’t tried to load up EA app at all as I’m trying to take a break & play anything BUT ts4. The app transition appeared successful though
I am beyond frustrated with this. I am worried about losing sims 3 & 4, as well as the hours I have built up over the years. And if they charge us for this too?? Like the rest of you I have spent so much on this game, plus about $50 per month on patreon & tsr. They treat us as if we are the sims & they take pleasure in our misery.
Hi no need for payments over periods. But you will not loose time or games and stats. But the ea app requireds the online connection for sims 4 dlc's too see as payed and owned. When offline the game says you don't own what is already been payed for. But it will be showed as owned when online so you still own it.
EXACTLY! On one side a faster app would help all of us who mod heavily, but if I lose ALL my progress or the there are bugs that cause issues with the game...it's not worth it. I want to give EA the benefit of the doubt, but honestly, it's EA, and if they can't handle vetting new packs how the hell are we supposed to trust them not to royally screw us over.

I think they’re changing to the EA App because of Game Pass. When you download EA games from Game Pass it forces you to do it thru EA App to be able to use EA Play.
I just logged into EA app after installing it. Then booted up my steam account to make sure i can still play my games i bought there thats linked to my origion(EA) account and found out. the steam game purchases didn't register and had to buy again via new EA APP! uninstalled and redownloaded the origin app, so i can still play those games for now until origin is fully crippled. Play and beat those games while you can before they Pull those digital Legally owned licenses EA better fix this issue or Lose all the players connected with Origin via Steam. Thats some serious Greed right there! #EA #Greed

If I have to pay for a monthly subscription to play a game I've already spent so much money on I'm just gonna go back to following the little tutorials online to download the free cracked versions of everything I got & just be done with it. This is one of the sketchiest things EA has done. I have Sims 3, Sims 4, Watchdogs, and Watchdogs 2 on Origin... So what's going to happen. I better not lose all my save files/games that I purchased. 🙄🤦♀️
It’s your same EA account, it’s just a new program to launch the games and manage your account. You don’t even have to redownload anything. They aren’t taking away anything you bought. If you’re worried you should back up your save files just to be safe and then make the switch.
Tbh I had not a single problem switching to the EA app, and i was kinda shooked that other simmers were struggling with it. Idk this whole situation is weird, the Sims team is again hyping things up to hide the scammy stuff they did with the last expansion pack :/
@@fin3689 NO offline mode!!!!! Especially with sims 4 there were so many patches in the past causing serious issues and we had to wait weeks until they finally fixed them. That's why a lot of us put origin in offline mode if a new patch is ready and don't update the game until everything is safe. With the app there is currently no way to avoid patching games at day 1.
I have been playing Sims for a long time. Didn't have any problems, with Origin..I had saved the password..no problems..next thing I know is I need a new password for Origin and my Sims 4, which was purchased in a store from my Son..I have been playing the Sims for years! From the first game til now..then came Origin!
For those you worried I feel ya I was too, after seeing the video I went ahead and got ea app, and all my saves transferred without issue! Even my mods transferred without much issue tho admittedly I only really have cosmetic mods. It’s actually quite simple and the app uninstalls origin for you.
No you don't have to pay for EA play to use the game, but it does seem like you need to be connected to the internet to load up Ea app. which then auto updates your game. I could be wrong but this is really annoying if i don't have a way to be disconnected
The EA app has been on open beta for a while now and when I downloaded it I used it for a day before I went right back to origin. Origin has its problems but this new app is just as broken maybe even more. I do think that EA is doing this for Sims 5, it's the only that makes sense. I'm probably super wrong but we never know.
I switched to the EA app two months ago because Origin would not let me download The Sims 3 at all. I can get The Sims 3 base game to download on the EA app but I cannot download any of my expansion packs. It is a problem with the packs themselves because I can download other games no problem. Every time I try to download my packs I get an error that says ' Something went haywire ' I have submitted error reports, I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, tried origin again, uninstalled the base game, followed every ' fix ' and nothing works. I saw one other person talking about it on twitter but other than that I haven't seen anyone else have this problem but it's driving me MADDDDD. I just want to play The Sims 3 :(
Someone in the comments mentioned that packs aren't available if you are offline. I don't know if that is your particular issue, but it does seem worth mentioning just in case.
I didn’t want to switch until I had to and I finally did yesterday. I couldn’t be more angry with EA then I am right now! I had a bunch of extra content and when I swapped and opened the game all my mods and cc transferred over but none of my dlc packs did and came up that they were all unowned!!
The EA app looks very cool but its very laggy and glitchy. It autoplays trailers as the background of some pages which i dont think helps. I think theyre doing too much when their capabilities are not "faster and stronger" but its cool. Sims 4 definitely works for me tho 😁 I downloaded it straight away because origin is so laggy and chat anyway 😋 and you definitely dont have to pay for EA play to play sims. Thats a lie. It gives a popup to renew your EA play but you can just close the popup.

Thank god i also got The Sims 3 on steam in case EA is going to screw up something with that app... It kind of sucks that i can't install katy perry to it though... (I know, such weird DLC but it is nice to have this in my game😅) But i'm waiting to get a steam deck to run this game in it!

The only major thing I heard is that your saved games will be lost. I’m copying it all to a new folder. Everything else is “supposed” to be a smooth change up, games should carry over, I’m not confident lol I hear it’s maddddd laggy. Like shut down your game and app laggy. Im keeping origin for as long as possible. I have sims on both Mac and pc so I’m curious about the whole change up. Makes me more concerned that sims 5 will be online only, tbh.
With the Sims 3 and 4 they were pushing hard to move to the online all the time mode of gameplay like they tried to do with Sim City. They back off on that right before Sims 4 release due to the Sim City fallout. After 8 years they are probably going to try for a round 2.
i’m so concerned about just…EVERYTHING honestly. i play with a heavily modded/cc-filled game and i’ll be so heartbroken if anything gets corrupted and/or missing from my game. i’ve heard little to no information on mod transfer and if there’s a safe way to ensure everything transfers safely, if it even will. i, unfortunately, don’t have an external hard drive to keep copies on, so i’ve always made copies on my desktop every 2-3 weeks, which i’ve seen people do and it’s always worked fine as an alternative. i wish i had the extra safety of an external hard drive earlier, but i’ll get one at some point, i hope. i’ve also heard of people’s tray and save files or their DLC not transferring which i’ll cry if that happens to me, so that’s another HUGE concern of mine. i just really hope, when i am forced to get the EA app, i’ll at least not lose anything and can actually play the game the same as i would in Origin.
Yeah I just lost access to my Sims 4 game EA app is charging a monthly fee for me to access my game. I paid for steam and all of these packs and kits. I'm done. Not spending another dime on this game. We had a good run but I just can't justify this anymore.
My favorite thing about them shutting down Origin in favour of their just-as-buggy-if-not-worse EA launcher, is the fact that apparently all Sims 3 players have lost access to their expansion packs and add-ons (me included) since September 2022. The DLC cannot be downloaded, and aside from a couple random community devs popping in to give a "Hey guys, we're working on the issue!" EA itself has been COMPLETELY silent. Even better, you can still buy the Sims 3 DLC, despite it being effectively useless now. I just wanted to play the Supernatural pack, man. :(
This has happened to me too!! I only play Sims 3 and the only thing that would download is the base game! I ended up just pirating all the expansion packs that went missing. If you want to get your expansion packs I can give you a link that helped me. :)
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE APP. You don't even have to download anything other than the app. Once you get the app, all your games are there. Nothing in your games will change. Back them up first if you are worried but I didn't and I didn't lose anything,

No you don't have to pay for the ea app. I have both downloaded (I have a PC) and either can launch ts4. I like it better when the EA app launches it but I will say, you can't launch it if both are running in the background. So I often keep my task manager open so I can kill either in the background
I did it. It uninstalled origin and installed ea in one step and all my games were there. You dont need a new login, it's the same as the origin login. Didnt cost anything either. Game opened and started no problem. Oh on a PC btw.

i hate this change so much, not just because this is an unnecessary move on EA's part, but because it hurts ALL of the sims players. I can no-longer play the sims with the ass-loads of bonus content they put up on the sims 3 store. there is no longer a way to buy sims points unless you buy a specific world.

I don't think they're gonna announce the sims 5. It makes little sense to continue to work on both the sims 4 and the sims 5 at the same time while expecting the player base to play both.
I have a suspicion you are going to need sims 4 base game to play sims 5. Hence making it free, no one would buy 2 sims games to play so no new players..... Maybe sims 5 is an interactive game? Its an interesting prospect... my sims visiting yours!
[ AGREE or DISAGREES ] So many reports of past problems with the EA app makes me think we shouldn’t have hope with the new change. A lot of people are already accustomed to playing with Origin and even have stuff that’s within origin it’s self to play their game as they want. No, the sims games and dlc is connected whit your ea acount and that is on origin same user's credisteals. So it is the same user's. What is owned in Origin goes to Ea play and vise versa. But it will say when offline you don't own any dlc's exsept the game. When Online you own the packs you have payed for.
Don't stress I moved from Origin last night after speaking to my eldest son , I backed up my saves just in case, downloaded EA app, once it installs it then uninstalled Origin. All my games are there including Sims3 and Sims4, so I wouldn't worry about that list. EA app is actually faster, loaded up my saves and no progress lost. All good ❤️❤️
@@lawrencekling8598 PC. Sims games now available, plus my son been using EA app for a while for his own games with no issues. Its much faster then Origin that's for sure. Once you install it, origin gets uninstalled, you log in with your credentials, then you'll see all your games, no having to download it's ready to play. I backed up my saves before installing it just in case but saves was all there and when I opened to my Sims home I saw all the stuff populate within seconds. No issues at all.
If I have to pay a subscription for that stupid ea app, that none of us wanted in the first place, I will never touch the game or give them anymore of my money again, especially since I've paid close to $1000 for the sims 4. They really doing too much of the wrong thing, it's sad, smdh.
The app is not paid, only if you want EA play which includes certain games for mothly price and small discount from games 😄 I had to sit through a long update but the game worked after that through the new app. I did had the app previously though because I had EA Play for a short time so Idk how it works for new players downloading it.
I was crazy nervous also. I tried it once and Uninstalled it. But l installed it again yesterday and I like it so far. It's nice and all my content is there.
You don’t have to pay for the app. It’s just a launcher just like origin. However players have been reporting content they own isn’t showing up in the EA app. They didn’t take it away by switching software, however their new EA app is buggy and players need to reach out to EA and let them know it’s not working correctly. You do not need to pay a subscription to access and download the games and dlc you already own.
I just need for them to figure out how to make Cc and script mods work better with the game. Sims 4 is fun but the Cc community really brings sims to LIFE.

I did it not realizing that origin gets replaced automatically. Nothing happened to my game thankfully but I did need to free up some more space for the updates. Loading screens are a little longer, I thought the game was going to crash but it didn't.

I’m a Mac player as well, I’m a little nervous about downloading the EA app so I’m continuing to use Origin through their website because the app obviously isn’t working. The website still works fine for me but it’s so frustrating that we have to do all of this. I just wanna play my game!
I transferred to the EA app over the weekend and it is a little different but they are trying to make it more user-friendly, connecting with your friends and fast game play. But the app does seem to be a bit glitchy so save, save, SAVE!!!!I save like every 5-10mins. But I'm worried if my older laptop will be able to handle the EA app :(
No, you don't have to pay for the EA App. I dunno what crack that person was smoking but its free lol Its basically just Origin but I actually like it more. EA forced me off already. I got the Highschool Years pack late. And when I bought it, the only option I got was "Download with EA App". And then after it downloaded, Sims 4 disappeared from my Origin library. So I went and got EA App to see if it was there, and when it installed it automatically removed Origin. My game and all my other games were there in the App though so it ended ok. Just a heads up cause other people will probably experience that too lol
So I have the new app, and it’s not any different then origin and honestly works a lot better in my opinion then origin did. I still have all my games (Sims 3-Sims 4) in my library, I didn’t lose anything from the switch at all. I honestly don’t care about the switch, as it’s just EA fixing a broken app that they probably got tired of fixing Origin’s bugs and decided to release a new one entirely. I don’t see where this you have to pay for it is coming from? Like yeah EA Play is an option like it always has been, it promotes it through the entire app just like Origin did, but hasn’t made it mandatory for me to have it to play either of my games. 🤷🏻♀️ I think it’s just another thing that the sim’s community is finding to hate on ea, I’m aware of their issues, nor am I on EA’s side, but I’ve seen the levels that the community will go through to hate on EA for the littlest things they can find.
Yeah I just got a laptop two weeks ago and purchased two expansion packs for the sims 3. Customer service wasn’t really helpful. :/ I’m still waiting for EA to actually do something and fix their new downloading website. This is ridiculous 😊
I switched apps and when I went to install on my new laptop it only let me download the games I paid for by credit card so went back to origin to get the rest of my content! I emailed them but as usual no reply.
I've been wanting to play Sims 4 since the day it came out. I wasn't able to because I couldn't afford a new computer until this past May. I couldn't afford the game until this past September when I was given an Amazon gift card. To find out that the game I've been wanting to play for close to 10 years will soon be taken away from me again because I can't afford EA Play, kills me.
Hello I have an issue my sims 4 gallery will not work I have looked on RUclips for solutions but all of the videos say we should do something on origin which I do not have I have currently just downloaded the sims so I never had or needed origin for my sims 4 to work. But I talked to the help center yesterday and EA says they don't have the rights to steam purchases, so uhhh how do I play my game when Origin shuts down 😭

i switched to the ea app and i haven't had any problems so far. other than it never keeps me logged in, but origin never did either. i'm not paying to play, plus the game is free now, i don't know how that one person is paying 15 a month. all my sims saves are still there, and i didn't even back them up (i'm so glad they saved, after it finished i realized i'd forgotten and panicked until i saw they were there)
I took a L on Orgin last year when they claimed I forgot my password when it’s always been the same. Couldn’t get in contact with ANYONE at Orgin so I had to make another Origin account and purchase again. I hate Orgin but this is also unfortunate. I haven’t played since earlier this year

You absolutely should back up your save files and go ahead and switch so that you’re not blind sided when it becomes mandatory and then accidentally lose your saves or something.

I'm already at EA App, the accounts and purchases transfer automatically and the games don't even need to be downloaded again! as for being a paid app, it's not, EA App and EA Play are two different things

If this will be the case I literally refuse, I will just quit the game. That's it, I'll be done. I've been a loyal simmer since The Sims 1 and I love the game, but I will NEVER pay monthly for a game that is unreasonably expensive to begin with, especially considering it barely works as it's supposed to.
This is the company that tried to force us to need an internet connection for a city builder game. I wouldn't put this passed EA.

I don’t like that we are being forced to uninstall Origin in order to switch to the new app. I am worried that I will lose older games, and that this could eat up more of my already limited hard drive space. My confidence in EA is at an all time low.
You won't have to uninstall Origin. Nor will you lose anything. (Just in case back up your games first) Origin will convert to the EA app. Your stuff will transfer over. It works fine. I've been using it. Don't worry. 💙

You dont need to uninstall anything, EA app works just fine for me and when you install EA app, it automatically uninstalls Origin. Account will be back to where it is, no games were lost for me. It'll be okay :)

I've been a lifelong simmer. I don't have faith in the EA app. My sims 2-4 is on Origin. If they're all not there, this might be the end of my simming journey. I play on both Mac and PC. If I have to pay for the EA app on top of this (idk never used it) then that's the final nail in the coffin for me.
How is the sims 4 on mac? I'm interested in getting one but I don't know how it might react to mods, cc and game packs. Is there a certain limit to it depending on how much storage you have for it to run smoothly?

Same here my sims 4 and 3 is on origins and if they disappear and they force me to pay a subscription to play the game then I'm just going to pirate the game I mean I hate doing that but they leave me no choice if they go down that route
@@ICBrandy its not horrible. as a mac simmer, here's some bullet points:
- your screen will flicker with some static lines every once in a while from the strain if you have a lot of cc/mods. still works though
-can't have reshade. if you struggle enjoying the original look of the game you may wanna steer clear
-There's not really a hard limit..it's more like, the more stuff you have the worse it runs. My sims dont have horrible fps, but it def looks a little slower than the base game. You'll also have a longer start up time if youve got a lot of mods but i'm assuming that's for everyone. Me personally, the last time I played my mods folder was roughly 42 GB, and was located in my $40 external hard drive and the only downsides for me were: my startup takes roughly an hour to an hour and a half if i remember correctly, and my game is a *bit* choppy and slow movement wise.
-also! if you're the type to get a LOT of cc/mods pls know that when you load up the game, if you've got a lot the loading screen will eventually freeze until it's done. it should still work though. it just stays frozen for a while. But if it did everything your laptop will like start fanning louder than before (like aggressively..i would recommend a fan pointed at it if youre worried 😅) and then you'll see the plumbob spinning again and the main menu should load 👍🏾at least in my experience
My game doesn't run horribly though! Its just like slight inconveniences that i go through. (I have a macbook pro for context) So honestly you should be fine playing on here! I can't speak on its performance when it comes to just base game and a lot of DLC though. But I've got 7 expansions, 2 game packs, and 2 stuff packs. hope this helped your decision!
It’s just a new app to replace origin. You don’t have to pay monthly or whatever to use the new app it’s just a new version of origin like how ea used to have “Download manager” back in the day before origin. Ea play is a subscription service that ea advertises on both origin and the new ea app. It’s as simple and downloading the new installer and loading your games. It automatically uninstalls origin and sets your games up again.

I installed it the first time they showed EA to me and honestly it runs way smoother than origin did, the only problem I really have is sometimes it says I don’t have access to the sims cause it was downloaded on another device but I just restart it and it’s okay. I get that EA doesn’t have the best of reputations but it’s so annoying when people make such a big deal out of EVERY little move they make 💀
I would suggest for anyone worried about losing games, back up your save files and take screenshots of all of the games (+packs for sims, games packs, kits, etc) so you have proof of purchase in case it doesn’t transfer for some reason

Hi no need for payments over periods. But you will not loose time or games and stats. But the ea app requireds the online connection for sims 4 dlc's too see as payed and owned. When offline the game says you don't own what is already been payed for. But it will be showed as owned when online so you still own it.
EXACTLY! On one side a faster app would help all of us who mod heavily, but if I lose ALL my progress or the there are bugs that cause issues with the game...it's not worth it. I want to give EA the benefit of the doubt, but honestly, it's EA, and if they can't handle vetting new packs how the hell are we supposed to trust them not to royally screw us over.

I think they’re changing to the EA App because of Game Pass. When you download EA games from Game Pass it forces you to do it thru EA App to be able to use EA Play.
I just logged into EA app after installing it. Then booted up my steam account to make sure i can still play my games i bought there thats linked to my origion(EA) account and found out. the steam game purchases didn't register and had to buy again via new EA APP! uninstalled and redownloaded the origin app, so i can still play those games for now until origin is fully crippled. Play and beat those games while you can before they Pull those digital Legally owned licenses
EA better fix this issue or Lose all the players connected with Origin via Steam. Thats some serious Greed right there! #EA #Greed

This is one of the sketchiest things EA has done. I have Sims 3, Sims 4, Watchdogs, and Watchdogs 2 on Origin... So what's going to happen. I better not lose all my save files/games that I purchased. 🙄🤦♀️
It’s your same EA account, it’s just a new program to launch the games and manage your account. You don’t even have to redownload anything. They aren’t taking away anything you bought. If you’re worried you should back up your save files just to be safe and then make the switch.

Especially with sims 4 there were so many patches in the past causing serious issues and we had to wait weeks until they finally fixed them. That's why a lot of us put origin in offline mode if a new patch is ready and don't update the game until everything is safe. With the app there is currently no way to avoid patching games at day 1.

Didn't have any problems, with Origin..I had saved the password..no problems..next thing I know is I need a new password for Origin and my Sims 4, which was purchased in a store from my Son..I have been playing the Sims for years! From the first game til now..then came Origin!

For those you worried I feel ya I was too, after seeing the video I went ahead and got ea app, and all my saves transferred without issue! Even my mods transferred without much issue tho admittedly I only really have cosmetic mods. It’s actually quite simple and the app uninstalls origin for you.

No you don't have to pay for EA play to use the game, but it does seem like you need to be connected to the internet to load up Ea app. which then auto updates your game. I could be wrong but this is really annoying if i don't have a way to be disconnected

The EA app has been on open beta for a while now and when I downloaded it I used it for a day before I went right back to origin. Origin has its problems but this new app is just as broken maybe even more.
I do think that EA is doing this for Sims 5, it's the only that makes sense. I'm probably super wrong but we never know.
I switched to the EA app two months ago because Origin would not let me download The Sims 3 at all. I can get The Sims 3 base game to download on the EA app but I cannot download any of my expansion packs. It is a problem with the packs themselves because I can download other games no problem. Every time I try to download my packs I get an error that says ' Something went haywire ' I have submitted error reports, I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, tried origin again, uninstalled the base game, followed every ' fix ' and nothing works. I saw one other person talking about it on twitter but other than that I haven't seen anyone else have this problem but it's driving me MADDDDD. I just want to play The Sims 3 :(
Someone in the comments mentioned that packs aren't available if you are offline. I don't know if that is your particular issue, but it does seem worth mentioning just in case.

I didn’t want to switch until I had to and I finally did yesterday. I couldn’t be more angry with EA then I am right now! I had a bunch of extra content and when I swapped and opened the game all my mods and cc transferred over but none of my dlc packs did and came up that they were all unowned!!
The EA app looks very cool but its very laggy and glitchy. It autoplays trailers as the background of some pages which i dont think helps. I think theyre doing too much when their capabilities are not "faster and stronger" but its cool.
Sims 4 definitely works for me tho 😁 I downloaded it straight away because origin is so laggy and chat anyway 😋 and you definitely dont have to pay for EA play to play sims. Thats a lie. It gives a popup to renew your EA play but you can just close the popup.

The only major thing I heard is that your saved games will be lost. I’m copying it all to a new folder. Everything else is “supposed” to be a smooth change up, games should carry over, I’m not confident lol I hear it’s maddddd laggy. Like shut down your game and app laggy. Im keeping origin for as long as possible. I have sims on both Mac and pc so I’m curious about the whole change up. Makes me more concerned that sims 5 will be online only, tbh.

Your saved games won't be lost, you're still using the same EA account just with a different program.
With the Sims 3 and 4 they were pushing hard to move to the online all the time mode of gameplay like they tried to do with Sim City. They back off on that right before Sims 4 release due to the Sim City fallout. After 8 years they are probably going to try for a round 2.
i’m so concerned about just…EVERYTHING honestly. i play with a heavily modded/cc-filled game and i’ll be so heartbroken if anything gets corrupted and/or missing from my game. i’ve heard little to no information on mod transfer and if there’s a safe way to ensure everything transfers safely, if it even will. i, unfortunately, don’t have an external hard drive to keep copies on, so i’ve always made copies on my desktop every 2-3 weeks, which i’ve seen people do and it’s always worked fine as an alternative. i wish i had the extra safety of an external hard drive earlier, but i’ll get one at some point, i hope. i’ve also heard of people’s tray and save files or their DLC not transferring which i’ll cry if that happens to me, so that’s another HUGE concern of mine. i just really hope, when i am forced to get the EA app, i’ll at least not lose anything and can actually play the game the same as i would in Origin.
Yeah I just lost access to my Sims 4 game EA app is charging a monthly fee for me to access my game. I paid for steam and all of these packs and kits. I'm done. Not spending another dime on this game. We had a good run but I just can't justify this anymore.
My favorite thing about them shutting down Origin in favour of their just-as-buggy-if-not-worse EA launcher, is the fact that apparently all Sims 3 players have lost access to their expansion packs and add-ons (me included) since September 2022. The DLC cannot be downloaded, and aside from a couple random community devs popping in to give a "Hey guys, we're working on the issue!" EA itself has been COMPLETELY silent. Even better, you can still buy the Sims 3 DLC, despite it being effectively useless now.

This has happened to me too!! I only play Sims 3 and the only thing that would download is the base game! I ended up just pirating all the expansion packs that went missing. If you want to get your expansion packs I can give you a link that helped me. :)

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE APP. You don't even have to download anything other than the app. Once you get the app, all your games are there. Nothing in your games will change. Back them up first if you are worried but I didn't and I didn't lose anything,

No you don't have to pay for the ea app. I have both downloaded (I have a PC) and either can launch ts4. I like it better when the EA app launches it but I will say, you can't launch it if both are running in the background. So I often keep my task manager open so I can kill either in the background
I did it. It uninstalled origin and installed ea in one step and all my games were there. You dont need a new login, it's the same as the origin login. Didnt cost anything either. Game opened and started no problem. Oh on a PC btw.

i hate this change so much, not just because this is an unnecessary move on EA's part, but because it hurts ALL of the sims players. I can no-longer play the sims with the ass-loads of bonus content they put up on the sims 3 store. there is no longer a way to buy sims points unless you buy a specific world.

[ AGREE or DISAGREES ] So many reports of past problems with the EA app makes me think we shouldn’t have hope with the new change. A lot of people are already accustomed to playing with Origin and even have stuff that’s within origin it’s self to play their game as they want. No, the sims games and dlc is connected whit your ea acount and that is on origin same user's credisteals. So it is the same user's. What is owned in Origin goes to Ea play and vise versa. But it will say when offline you don't own any dlc's exsept the game. When Online you own the packs you have payed for.
Don't stress I moved from Origin last night after speaking to my eldest son , I backed up my saves just in case, downloaded EA app, once it installs it then uninstalled Origin. All my games are there including Sims3 and Sims4, so I wouldn't worry about that list. EA app is actually faster, loaded up my saves and no progress lost. All good ❤️❤️

@@lawrencekling8598 PC. Sims games now available, plus my son been using EA app for a while for his own games with no issues. Its much faster then Origin that's for sure. Once you install it, origin gets uninstalled, you log in with your credentials, then you'll see all your games, no having to download it's ready to play. I backed up my saves before installing it just in case but saves was all there and when I opened to my Sims home I saw all the stuff populate within seconds. No issues at all.

The app is not paid, only if you want EA play which includes certain games for mothly price and small discount from games 😄 I had to sit through a long update but the game worked after that through the new app. I did had the app previously though because I had EA Play for a short time so Idk how it works for new players downloading it.

You don’t have to pay for the app. It’s just a launcher just like origin. However players have been reporting content they own isn’t showing up in the EA app. They didn’t take it away by switching software, however their new EA app is buggy and players need to reach out to EA and let them know it’s not working correctly. You do not need to pay a subscription to access and download the games and dlc you already own.
Just to add to your comment - all your progress is saved, you're using the same EA account it's just a different program.

I did it not realizing that origin gets replaced automatically. Nothing happened to my game thankfully but I did need to free up some more space for the updates. Loading screens are a little longer, I thought the game was going to crash but it didn't.

I’m a Mac player as well, I’m a little nervous about downloading the EA app so I’m continuing to use Origin through their website because the app obviously isn’t working. The website still works fine for me but it’s so frustrating that we have to do all of this. I just wanna play my game!

I transferred to the EA app over the weekend and it is a little different but they are trying to make it more user-friendly, connecting with your friends and fast game play. But the app does seem to be a bit glitchy so save, save, SAVE!!!!I save like every 5-10mins. But I'm worried if my older laptop will be able to handle the EA app :(

No, you don't have to pay for the EA App. I dunno what crack that person was smoking but its free lol Its basically just Origin but I actually like it more.

I got the Highschool Years pack late. And when I bought it, the only option I got was "Download with EA App". And then after it downloaded, Sims 4 disappeared from my Origin library. So I went and got EA App to see if it was there, and when it installed it automatically removed Origin.
My game and all my other games were there in the App though so it ended ok.
Just a heads up cause other people will probably experience that too lol

So I have the new app, and it’s not any different then origin and honestly works a lot better in my opinion then origin did. I still have all my games (Sims 3-Sims 4) in my library, I didn’t lose anything from the switch at all. I honestly don’t care about the switch, as it’s just EA fixing a broken app that they probably got tired of fixing Origin’s bugs and decided to release a new one entirely. I don’t see where this you have to pay for it is coming from? Like yeah EA Play is an option like it always has been, it promotes it through the entire app just like Origin did, but hasn’t made it mandatory for me to have it to play either of my games. 🤷🏻♀️ I think it’s just another thing that the sim’s community is finding to hate on ea, I’m aware of their issues, nor am I on EA’s side, but I’ve seen the levels that the community will go through to hate on EA for the littlest things they can find.
it just cuased my sims shortcut to get deleted and now that I'm in ea it won't work. so annoying I was literally playing it yesterday

I switched apps and when I went to install on my new laptop it only let me download the games I paid for by credit card so went back to origin to get the rest of my content! I emailed them but as usual no reply.
I've been wanting to play Sims 4 since the day it came out. I wasn't able to because I couldn't afford a new computer until this past May. I couldn't afford the game until this past September when I was given an Amazon gift card. To find out that the game I've been wanting to play for close to 10 years will soon be taken away from me again because I can't afford EA Play, kills me.

Hello I have an issue my sims 4 gallery will not work I have looked on RUclips for solutions but all of the videos say we should do something on origin which I do not have I have currently just downloaded the sims so I never had or needed origin for my sims 4 to work. @@thesimyin I have still been unsuccessful with finding my answers. I think Steam is more reliable than Origin for purchases, and having all my games in one place is nice. But I talked to the help center yesterday and EA says they don't have the rights to steam purchases, so uhhh how do I play my game when Origin shuts down 😭

i switched to the ea app and i haven't had any problems so far. other than it never keeps me logged in, but origin never did either. i'm not paying to play, plus the game is free now, i don't know how that one person is paying 15 a month. all my sims saves are still there, and i didn't even back them up (i'm so glad they saved, after it finished i realized i'd forgotten and panicked until i saw they were there)
I took a L on Orgin last year when they claimed I forgot my password when it’s always been the same. Couldn’t get in contact with ANYONE at Orgin so I had to make another Origin account and purchase again. I hate Orgin but this is also unfortunate. I haven’t played since earlier this year
