I really miss Sean. He brought an aura of professionalism to the WWF of that day. He could also make me really laugh. I remember him using the term "Bob Uecker seats" when talking to fans in the upper balcony at WrestleMania VI. A real class act, and I'm glad to see he's doing well.
Awesome interview. Hits hard hearing him say about his peers and colegues that "its easier to mention all those that have passed than those that are still with us."
It's refreshing to hear someone who worked with The Ultimate Warrior not trash him, just for the sake of doing so. Sean just told his experience. A true professional.
What a wonderful interview. I loved watching Sean Mooney as an announcer he seems as every bit a gentleman as his character in the WWE. Its nice to listen how appreciative he was of his opportunties. A man of true class.
Oh yeah Sean Mooney! When he was sitting in the Event Center control room with all the tv screens behind him he was in a safe place, but I loved him selling so well trying not to get run over an erratic Ultimate Warrior walking in all directions. Legendary his Survivor Series' interviews and his mimics trying to avoid being squeezed in by the team of wrestlers around him ;)). And many more memories :)
the moment he speaks i'm transported back to my childhood. saturday mornings. sitting in my pj's with my brother in front of the tv. WOW! didn't expect that rush of nostalgia
Nice interview. I still remember Sean (Ian?) doing the bridging segments during the angle where Earthquake "squashed" Jake Roberts' python Damien. Mooney had some of the same facial reactions that Larry used to get when Moe would belt Curly or Shemp in Three Stooges shorts, those weird little grimaces to try to sell the incident as real.
Sorry Grayson I have missed this video last year I'm just know watching this video and i love your golds that you sat. So sorry for being so late take care.
Always enjoyed the Coliseum Videos, Worth a lot of money nowadays. Many Event Centers Mooney did are on RUclips. They even had a guy named Murray Hodgson do Event Centers in the Springfield Market in summer 91 instead of Mooney. I always like the event centers that hyped if what would later be a TV taping. While most wrestler interviews were generic in most markets, some still mentioned the venue like MSG, Boston Garden, etc.
If I understand correctly, Hodgson had some sort of legal issues with WWF. Whether it was connected to the steroid trial or Vince's issues with Rita Chatterton, I can't say for sure. I lived in Springfield in the '80s and '90s, so I remember him doing stuff with WWF back then.
So cool. I grew up watching Sean Mooney. In Canada we had Maple Leaf Wrestling Saturday afternoons and Sean would be talking about upcoming events, so it was fun hearing him talk about all the work he did doing that. Class act!! Thanks for this!!
What the freag? Dude looks the same as he did in 1990. When he would do the live event center for the upcoming show at MSG, we listened. Seam Mooney is a class act!
I actually met Sean Mooney at WaleMania 2018 in NOLA. Super down to earth guy I got to talk to him for a bit like if we were actual friends. Took a selfie with him (he actually took it) LOL. I didn't grow up watching Sean Mooney I started watching in '96 but knew who he was.
I remember one segment from WWF Wrestling Challenge where Monsoon said the same thing, and Heenan said “Oh, you mean the guy with 10 gallons of grease in his hair?” 😆🤣💀
Yeah I thought it was a real control room too. What made it even more real is that sometimes you'd see other employees sitting and facing the monitors, as if they were working on editing or something.
Sean comes off great here, loved the interview. Could've done with less of the interviewer interjecting with his take on things. And definitely could've done with his audio being much lower in the mix. The high end is piercing and it sounds like shouting every time he talks.
I agree. Ian caused the downfall of the podcast. Didn’t really surprise me, especially since the SOB still owes me money. Sean’s mistake was letting him on. In all seriousness, I think my favorite interviews he did were of Tatanka and Bobby Fulton.
This was pretty cool its like Viland Saga where guy had to find his way with the Vykings hehe. Though I would not be putting up with ribbing like him. I think its funny how Hogan was like telling him to not pack. I know Vince McMahom was trying to get the dude from UFC. He is really good way he does the Coming Up Next exactly perfect every single time. Yet he didn't know about wrestling so passed. That Broom Story is pretty funny. I bet Billy Mays would be making big money. Really like his Pitch Man show which didn't run long enough. Eh I'd rather pay price having money to compensate over being poor. Working on Thanksgiving compared to being in retail isn't even remotely the same ;). Should be glad can Entertain people or Comedy :).
Would love to have heard a shoot from Lord Alfred....... He was absolutely hilarious.... Would love to know the personality behind the character. Would love to have seen him working heel way back in the day too.
That man is my childhood!! 🤩 Often wondered what the hell he’s been up to lately! 😎 I used to get a kick out of him interviewing the Ultimate Warrior from the event center like he was speaking to him through a glass cage or something! 😆 And Warrior’s response to his question usually went something like: “FEAR NOT, SEAN MOONEY!!! FOR I HAVE SEEN GREAT DESTRUCTION & DYSFUNCTION BEYOND THE PATH OF ALL MY WARRIORS…” 😳😵💫😂
Man what a LEGEND! Wrestling really has changed in so many ways from the 80's the plots they would create would really UNITE THE USA TOGETHER MORE THAN EVER IF YOU ASK ME. Of course WWF / WWE never not standing strong for the citizens of this country but it was just different no bs starting off with JFK hogans theme music in beginning, always a positive message for the hero and yes I loved Attitude years def legendary and one of my favs but there was something very special taking place back then that no longer exists.
Ahhh, the good ol' days! Sean Mooney in the TV studio or control center, giving us updates on the big, upcoming pay per view match or where the WWF Superstars will be performing live in an Arena near you... I'll always remember the late, great Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan would finish calling a match on Wrestling Challenge or Superstars, and they'd throw it to Sean Mooney in the studio, and Bobby Heenan would always say... " WHO?!" 😂😂😂 Those were the days!
I remember living in New Zealand we had Superstars of Wrestling through the late 80's and early 90's. So we only ever saw Superstars v Jobbers. The only time we saw Superstar v Superstar was at Royal Rumble, Survivor Series and Wrestlemania.....and we already knew who the winner was in the matches because we were months behind so it would be spoiled.
Always seemed as a kid renting the old videos that Sean and Lord Alfred were really good friends just like Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon had that connection
Is there a way for the public to contact Sean? I have a question regarding the Event Center that I'd like to ask him that's been on my mind forever that he may be able to answer. I found some Twitter accounts but they seem to be fan accounts rather than a verified account known to be Sean's. Thanks in advance for any help. By the way I remember when I was in highschool during the summer vacation/breaks I started renting Coliseum videos (WCW PPV tapes as well) like crazy from various local rental stores (mostly independent ones) and spending hours watching them while home. The memories of watching all those Supertape volumes, WrestleFests, Coliseum Video versions of PPVs, and all the other tapes they released (like Invasion 92, the wrestler based ones, etc.) were amazing and incredibly fun. I really liked the segments between the matches that Sean was mentioning in the interview.
I don't feel sorry for any Wrestler who chosen this lifestyle. They can't say oh I Sacrificed myself and I'm missing out on my kids life. Ok then if you feel this way there is the door. This is what they wanted to do. Just like with actors and singers, nurses, doctors, police officers, joining the army or any type of job you take it's your choice. Yea I kinda feel sorry for their kids but at the same I don't feel sorry for them. They will never know what it's like to go to bed hungry. They will never have to worry about where they next meal is coming from. They will always have the name brand colthes and shoes. Back in my day my shoes was coming apart. My mama couldn't afford to get all her kids shoes. Only time when we had new shoes when it's a new school year. They cry because daddy at working and he isn't home meanwhile there is kids with no fathers because they don't want to take responsibility as a dad. They didn't give child support. At least they get to see their father and at least their father making sure his kids eating. So bunk this sad story about their kids and save me the sad story about this job. Because no one is forcing them to stay.

I can't lie it's so soothing hearing Sean mooney's voice its like I'm 7 yrs old again hearing this voice

Sean Mooney was and still is the man. That's my comment.
What a wonderful interview. I loved watching Sean Mooney as an announcer he seems as every bit a gentleman as his character in the WWE. Its nice to listen how appreciative he was of his opportunties. A man of true class.
Big part of my childhood and career as a wrestling fan. Thanks Sean Mooney.❤

Sean did more than the Event Center, he did all the backstage interviews in the heel locker rooms at the PPV's !
He was so underrated, great memories especially watching him on coliseum videos growing up.
Couldn't agree more!
Mooney's one of the all time greats 👍. Glad he's doing well!
Man, Sean has aged well. Glad to see he's still doing media.

I actually watched the entire interview in one sitting too. Great interview.
Sean is one of the anchors on my local news. Had no idea he was ever involved with wrestling.
🤨
Sean Mooney & Tony Schiavone were a great duo and 1989.... Respect 💯 🙏
My childhood memories....
Schiavone mailed a lot of segments in for multiple employers. Mooney was a pro.
Moosoon. "Let's go over to Sean Mooney"
Heenan "WHO?"
The best memories.
😂😂😂 vintage Heenan!
That just killed me every time Bobby Heenan did that, lol

If only he hadn't been saddled with Lord Alfred Hayes for so long (RIP).
Mooney’s temperament and pacing brought calm to the chaos. Nice conversation. Thank you 🎈
Right
So the event center wasn’t a real control room with monitors?? it really didn’t look like a green green to me. Looked real to me.
My mind was also blown.

Great interview. Like others have stated, it is good to hear Sean Mooney again. It brings back vivid childhood memories.
I always wondered what happened to Sean, great interview!
Great interview!! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
We need him in the HOF
Sean Mooney is the Dick Clark of Pro Wrestling. Does the man ever age and can we finally induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame?
I was thinking the same thing. WWE HOF
Then someone will want Todd Pettengil in despite the fact he sucked.
Exactly

WWE should bring Sean back.
