Very nice laptop but they should have put usb-c on it to complete the list of current connections like on the Precision 7xxx range.
This is the last Dell E series so users should not expect to be able to use the E-Dock on laptops after this version.

Hi and thanks for this. I am dying to see reviews of the new HP elitebook Folio G1. Really wondering about performance and battery life especislly. Are you planning on reviewing it? Also, the new Dell Latitude 13 7000 series (7370) is in the same category. Can you get it too? Thanks for everything

7 years later.. that m.2 is also pcie compatible.. I've got a nvme in there doing 1.5GB/s.. I suspect it may not be a full 4 lanes.. or my drive is in some sort of eco mode (wd sn750)
yes, the battery is very easily replaceable.

The major selling point of this thing is that it is an ultrabook-ish size and weight but has a full docking connector.
Unfortunately the docking connector doesn't work (the screen resolution is limited when docked, even if a given screen works it frequently starts flashing when docked, docking triggers daily crashes, the sound driver triggers daily crashes, sound output on the dock doesn't work half the time, laptop gets uncomfortably hot when docked, etc.).
If you discount the docking port (and you really-really should), then suddenly it is just a chubby ultrabook with a so-so screen and keyboard, a wobbly bottom, disgusting assembly quality and subpar reliability (did I mention the daily crashes and the total lack of support or driver updates?).
If you want to preserve your sanity, buy something from a competitor. There are other companies out there making really robust and cool looking ultrabooks, and some of them don't even treat paying customers like crap.

First thing I'm noticing is smudges on the back and glossy screen, that will cause a lot of headache due to glare.

You can always choose another screen without the touch option. Those are matte and shouldn't cause too many problems in that field.

Hello, I have the same laptop as yours. However, since I got the laptop from a store, the bios happened to be locked and I tried removing both the battery and cmos battery and let the laptop spend about 6-7 hours, but nothing happened after I put everything together. BIOS is still locked. Thanks for any suggestion.

Hi, I have the same issue with the Bios lock. Did you ever figure out a way to get it unlocked? Thanks

What size screws are used in the laptop?
UPDATE: Just measured the size. It is M2x5mm. It was bummer that I had to borrow one of screw from a corner of the laptop for adding a M.2 42mm SSD Drive. Going to order some more in case I lose one in the future.

      Hi,
Did it work? Some people have reported having pbs with second SSD recognition by the system. And if it did work what type of m.2 SSD did you get?
      Thx

How was the fingerprint sensor performance?

    • @akasatax3833
      @akasatax3833 8 лет назад +1

If it is anything like mine then the fingerprint reader is about as efficient at fingerprint recognition as any other flat surface on the laptop (oh, OK, I guess I should include all the flat surfaces of the table as well for all fairness). If you want a fingerprint reader do not buy this laptop.
In fact, there is no good reason to buy it at all. Get something from another manufacturer, if you are planning to use it for anything other than a doorstop.
