One of my favorite solos from Alex. The version on the album of a show of hands is the best. Not the love video version but the album as they are different. Great song. Underrated album.

I had not seen this particular live version of Mission before, but it was absolutely great. Mission is off the Hold Your Fire album which came out in 1987. It's also the same album that Time Stand Still is from. Mission is one of my absolute favorite Rush songs. Thank you for doing my suggestion, and I look forward to part 2.

Mission is from Hold Your Fire which was the pinnacle of Rush's 'keyboard' era of the mid/late '80s. Rush released Permanent Waves in January of 1980, Moving Pictures in 1981, Signals in 1982, Grace Under Pressure in 1983, Power Windows in 1985, Hold Your Fire in 1987 and Presto in 1989. Such changes in the '80s for Rush! But this was the 'peak' of the keyboard era.

Always liked Mission, I was front row in Newcastle and third row in Manchester for this tour in 2007, it was awesome.

80s Rush is great Rush! Between The Wheels, New World Man, The Body Electric, Jacob’s Ladder, and many more. Whilst Rush fans are entitled to their preferred era, no one can deny that they created great music in the 80s. Part of the genius of Alex Lifeson‘s guitar work is how he managed to expertly adapt his sound to compliment the synth leads. And then he comes in with a solo that just 🤯.

Nice selection from Rush's late 80's catalog. This live version takes the studio version to a whole new level !

Great song! Love 80s RUSH! They were all at the top of their game creatively. All 4 of the main 80s albums ;Signals , Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows and Hold Your Fire are extraordinary and Hold solidly high positions in my personal top 10. If you ever do a non live take please consider the album version of MIDDLETOWN DREAMS from Power Windows...not the live version from A Clockwork Angels tour. ..the elephant in the room is that Geddy's voice fell off a cliff and was terrible on those final two tours and MIDDLETOWN DREAMS was one of those songs that suffered the most for it. Unfortunately there's no other quality live takes of it but it's such a good song! Keep on Rush'n. in NI!

:( sadly, its true. All of the popular HD videos from the 2000's suffer from that, yet they're the ones everyone swear by.

The late 80's was not my favourite time period for Rush but this live performance was excellent. I am suggesting some later Rush. Far Cry and Seven Cities of Gold. Cheers.

Agree but Definitely do the studio versions of these later tracks - the live versions get pretty inconsistent on these last two tours. The Garden is the exception. They aren’t bad but they did tend to slow the tempo down a touch, Geds voice is inconsistent and Neil was cutting back on the speed & completeness of his fills. The studio versions - the albums - are spectacular, as always!

@@bobespirit2112 Yes, I agree. The Garden is beautiful to see live but the rest the studio version would be best.

My second favorite song right behind the garden and ahead of resist. This was from the Hold your fire album which was late '80s. I absolutely loved this time period, but I love the time. It's to come even more! You need to check out far cry, test for Echo, driven, and resist.

This is late 80's Rush (Hold Your Fire - 1987) - more of a progressive pop sound that many old-school fans were not fond of. Synthesizers were more prominent, and their music is a reflection of what was going on in popular music at the time. Rush was always evloving. This is the same album as Time Stand Still. Force Ten and Lock and Key are other great songs from this album. Cheers!

YES IT’S DIFFERENT FROM ANY OTHER RUSH because RUSH was al about “difference”!!
Not only “difference” from any other bands but “different” from the previous RUSH or the RUSH yet to come!
We have a saying in the RUSH Community, “there’s a RUSH song for every situation and for every mood. Why would you need anything else”!!
