So, this will be one of hopefully 2 or 3 more videos I hope to get out before the holiday season, where I'll hopefully be taking some time off. This is also the first part to a series I want to make about college football rivalries, and felt it'd be best to begin at the beginning. Hope y'all enjoy!
(also I've learned my lesson from the history of college football vid new jersey is in fact not in new england)

It would be cool if Rutgers scheduled Princeton in a preseason game. Sure it wouldn't be competitive but there's plenty of non competitive rivalries across college football that are still played every year.

It might still be less in Princeton's interest now than in Rutgers'. The top one or two Ivies typically end the season ranked in the FCS top 25, on the strength of the out-of-conference teams they beat. While Princeton doesn't compete for the top high school players, it does compete with other Ivies and highly-selective non-Ivies for good high school players with 4.0 GPAs, as well as the best prep school athletes. So trading a hard-fought win over Lafayette or Colgate for an annual drubbing by Rutgers doesn't help sell the school to kids who might be choosing between Princeton and Yale, or even Princeton and Williams.

If ya’ll are wondering why Rutgers doesn’t play Princeton anymore, it’s because games against schools that don’t offer scholarships are not allowed to count towards bowl eligibility. Same reason why FBS teams never schedule games against teams in the Pioneer league.
