So, this will be one of hopefully 2 or 3 more videos I hope to get out before the holiday season, where I'll hopefully be taking some time off. This is also the first part to a series I want to make about college football rivalries, and felt it'd be best to begin at the beginning. Hope y'all enjoy! (also I've learned my lesson from the history of college football vid new jersey is in fact not in new england)
@@uranium54321 probably at some point, I actually sort of scrapped the idea a while back since the video initially bombed, so I'm sort of working from scratch now lol
I for one would watch the entire part 2, the first one was so well done and interesting! I know that's gotta be a lot of work though. I'll watch anything you put out my man
It would be cool if Rutgers scheduled Princeton in a preseason game. Sure it wouldn't be competitive but there's plenty of non competitive rivalries across college football that are still played every year.
Finally a channel about college football. Being from Alabama, there is no pro football. Nobody watches pro football. Its all college. Thank you for doing this.
Love that you included the cannon fiasco, Princeton never gave ours back :( students still paint the little nub that sticks out of the ground red every now and then lol
absolutely been loving your videos, i was thinking recently about how i wished there were more good cfb video essay-type stuff on youtube and youre killing it. the editing is getting better w/ each video too
Great video, but the low average lifespan of the 1800s is actually a result of high infant mortality. if you made it to 7 you were likely to live a long life.
Not necessarily. Disease was common and medicine wasn’t that far advanced. If you were lucky enough to not catch a disease you’d live a long life. But if you caught pneumonia or something than it’s GG’s
Having been born and raised basically right between Princeton and Rutgers this is really cool to learn more about. I’ve been going to college football games since before I could remember and Rutgers football helped foster my love of sports.
It’s a shame college football isn’t bigger in this area. I go to almost every Rutgers game and unless you are you actively following the team or at the stadium you would hardly have any idea there is a game going on besides the highway messages boards flashing a traffic advisory.
Thought I saw my Knights in that opening montage and burst out laughing when i paused it and it was the "Civil Conflict", thank you the shitty day at work I just had feels a lot better now 😂 😂😂
This channel is a hidden Gem. the music, the vibe, the editing, the soft deep voice of the narrator. it's just perfect. I can't believe this guy only has 5k subs. Thank you.
I haven’t left a RUclips coment since like 2016 and I’m just commenting to say your shit is gas I’m hyped before every video keep with the college football content
It might still be less in Princeton's interest now than in Rutgers'. The top one or two Ivies typically end the season ranked in the FCS top 25, on the strength of the out-of-conference teams they beat. While Princeton doesn't compete for the top high school players, it does compete with other Ivies and highly-selective non-Ivies for good high school players with 4.0 GPAs, as well as the best prep school athletes. So trading a hard-fought win over Lafayette or Colgate for an annual drubbing by Rutgers doesn't help sell the school to kids who might be choosing between Princeton and Yale, or even Princeton and Williams.
Great video. Been loving these videos, especially this one being from Jersey. Would love to see a history of Fordham’s football team, probably one of the strangest football histories in the country. Keep up the great work!
As a Rutgers alum this peaks my interest, awesome video. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure big cannon and cannon green are the same, big cannon is currently located at cannon green. I've paid that cannon a visit a few years ago and this video may have inspired another visit in the near future. Upstream Red Team!
Looking at the 1869 version of college football, it is very similar to how basketball was under the original rules, so I wonder if there was some crossover between the two sports or if it was just a coincience
If ya’ll are wondering why Rutgers doesn’t play Princeton anymore, it’s because games against schools that don’t offer scholarships are not allowed to count towards bowl eligibility. Same reason why FBS teams never schedule games against teams in the Pioneer league.
Every years Rutgers should play princeton as the first game of the college football season. I know the ivy league is now in the non bowl division, but is it all that different compared to when Rutgers plays temple or somebody?
Damn, princeton is soft! Rutgers endured 40 straight years of losses, and overall obliteration for most years of this rivalry. Yet, they never quit. As soon as the rivalry flipped princeton becomes a bunch of little crybabies and quit. Typical ivy league.
My OC in college played for Rutgers in the 60s and he said they hated that they don’t play Ivy League teams anymore and have decided to sell out to the big ten just to get crushed every year.
So apparently the photo of the field you are using at 4:53 is actually Neilson Field. otherwise known as the original football field and not Rutgers Stadium. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Neilson_field.jpg

Are you planning on making a part 2 of that history of college football vid? It was rly good imo
@@uranium54321 probably at some point, I actually sort of scrapped the idea a while back since the video initially bombed, so I'm sort of working from scratch now lol
Good shit bro enjoy your break I found your channel from the part 1 of history and have watched almost every video
I for one would watch the entire part 2, the first one was so well done and interesting! I know that's gotta be a lot of work though. I'll watch anything you put out my man
You should do this more often I think college football is your niche
Yes I 100% agree this should be his staple, becuase they aren’t many cfb RUclipsrs like this any at all tbh
100% agree, i don’t care about college football at all and i still love these videos
Watch his other videos that’s what he does
This is why I don't like the direction how college football is going. It's destroying regional rivalries and geographical logic.
It would be cool if Rutgers scheduled Princeton in a preseason game. Sure it wouldn't be competitive but there's plenty of non competitive rivalries across college football that are still played every year.
Yeah I mean Alabama schedules South Central Alaska A&M, and no one gives em crap for it lol
The fact that we never got a Princeton/Rutgers game to kick off the sport’s 150th season in 2019 is a crime against humanity.
Great job! Love the production. A great story...someone should make a major motion picture about it, but don't ask Princeton for the money...
2:02 Was NOT expecting to hear the music from Taxi Driver but it's welcomed lmao
rutgers is literally me

A moment of silence for those that haven’t discovered this channel yet.
I haven’t stopped watching this dude. He randomly appeared on my feed and I can’t stop watching. W man

genuinely the exact reason i started making college football content lmao

I find it funny the first football season ended with a split national title, especially being only two teams.
Having been born and raised basically right between Princeton and Rutgers this is really cool to learn more about. I’ve been going to college football games since before I could remember and Rutgers football helped foster my love of sports.

Sorry that you’re a rutgers fan must suck
Finds your channel, binges every CFB video you have, you immediately drop a new one. Nice
literally same lol

This is the most excellent CFB history content I have seen by fsr
I haven’t left a RUclips coment since like 2016 and I’m just commenting to say your shit is gas I’m hyped before every video keep with the college football content
Honestly its amazing how much beating a rival school can make a disappointing season worth it.
See my Wildcats victory over Louisville
As a Rutgers student this is super interesting, keep it up king ☝️
Some of the best football content on the app.
Rutgers and Princeton should be the first game played every year. Week 0

@@cisium1184 But, the New York market is also very enticing money-wise.
Keep going dude!! You have a way of telling interesting stories about football and we will always want more.

Awesome video and whats that music in the final chapter of the video?
As a UVA fan, we’re on way to losing to VT as much as Rutgers lost to Princeton lmao

So you're basically telling me that football originally was like quidditch with only one ball
thank you for the content father. May it please the algorithm 🙏
Looking at the 1869 version of college football, it is very similar to how basketball was under the original rules, so I wonder if there was some crossover between the two sports or if it was just a coincience
Loved the video and can't wait to see what else you come up with!
your cfb content is some of the best on youtube! keep it up!
THE KING IS BACK
The Emplemon of College Football RUclips. You won a subscription from me with this and the SMU video. Love the content 👊🏼

We need part 2 of history of college football

This channel is amazing

thank you for these videos 🤝
Your voice is so soothing
9:35 #43 got LAID OUT😂😂
Great content! Would you be willing to do a video of CFB’s most lopsided rivalry?
maybe, I've been thinking about doing a video on like the top 10 most lopsided rivalries
You should add OU OSU to that list, especially considering the rivalry is over now
LETTTTTTSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Someone's influenced by Jon Bois, and aren't we all lol
This is great stuff!
S/O George Large, happy he got to see his alma mater pull one out before RIPIP’ing
Love the content.,,

Do best defenses of all time from 2000- to now
This guys like Secret Base/Jon Bois, it’s great I love dis content
My OC in college played for Rutgers in the 60s and he said they hated that they don’t play Ivy League teams anymore and have decided to sell out to the big ten just to get crushed every year.
"These innovations would increase scoring, and as a result, would increase how much rutgers got shit on"
LOL
Nice voice do you try to make it deeper?
nice taste in music
Thumbs up from 30k feet.
Keep it up!
