I think Inaki godoy, the actor playing luffy, was the perfect fit for a live action luffy. Realistically, you just can't adapt luffy himself into live action, but Inaki's performance and manerisms are the perfect adaptation of luffy's personality
Fun fact! Oda (the creator) actually chose the main cast and oversaw all the writing! He'd even have them reshoot or change something if he didn't like it, but he was VERY excited for this show to come out! The cast and crew were all fans of the series too, so you could really get that feel that One Piece spirit. Oda even asked the cast if they wanted to know how the story ends and they turned him down 😂😂
6:50 Back on whiskey peek Zoro talked about killing a Mr. 7 the one you flashed up was his replacement.❤ Oda actually picked Inyaki himself because he made Oda laugh. You definately need to see the interview Oda did with him. Made me cry. 😭❤
yah episode 4 doesnt face Stab to not encourage little kids to do the same i think lol vut yah they do the true Chapter 1 at about 3 or 400 episodes in @@GalekC
6:50 Not so fun fact: This Mr. 7 was not the one that was shown in the Anime, and he was never shown in the manga either, just in an SBS once but what happened in the scene here is actually canon. So, he is the original Mr. 7 we never got to see because Zoro ended him before the story began, but he does look like the sketch Oda made of him.
Don't apologize for doing the comparisons, I actually ENJOY when I hear the One Piece fans calling out certain things like music in the background or talking about how you're excited for things to come. Love your reactions!
Yall have no idea of how happy i am to see this woman watch the show i adore AND having the same reaction i had when i first experienced one piece of the first time. Just like jojo as well. Thank you miss girl I really appreciate it. And pardon my language, but I fucking love this channel, 3 years of pure joy!
There's a really cute video of the main actor that plays Luffy meeting with Oda and Oda thanks him for being born at the right time to play the role of Luffy because he fits so well
LOVING your giggling at buggy at the end lmaoo "thats MY map!" "tihihi okaaay hihi" hes such a little loser (affectionate)! i think youre gonna enjoy buggy, everyone really likes him in the live action, even me, and i didn't enjoy him in the original until muuuch much later :D
YESSS!!! We're on the Live Action, they really got the spirit of the characters, Luffy feels Luffy! It's not just a guy in a costume, same for Zoro, Nami and the rest. There is a video of Iñaki Godoy, Luffy's actor, meeting Oda, is quite wholesome, watch it if you can, reaction of that maybe? Anyway, hope you all a great day!
Your deep knowledge of One Piece and your hilarious reaction to Zoro turning one human into two pieces has earned my subscription and support. You are awesome.
7:49 My favorite thing about this episode is the inclusion of the song that plays here. It’s a subtle nod to the fans that lets us know how much they care. That song means so much to all One Piece fans. (You will learn soon) You may not like clowns, but Buggy is the best casting choice this show has made. Just you wait. 😂
It's funny how anime-onlys learn for the first time some canonical information from Live action (Luffy scar, luffy declaring he wants 10 crewmates, zeff eating his leg etc etc)
I'm glad you waited to finish Water 7 before LA so you're not spoiled.. Imo, OPLA did an amazing job. Truly enjoyable. But it feels impossible to compete w 1000+ episodes of anime. Just too deep and less restrictions on budget and showing Luffy's powers. OPLA is great for what it is imo. Just no competing w og OP for me. Completely agree they did amazing w casting, the actor for Luffy is perfect, very kind face
The reason this is so good is because the creator of the manga and anime (Eiichiro Oda) picked the cast and was involved throughout the show. Crazy how involving the creator can preserve and boost the show.
LETS GO! LIVE ACTION HYPE! No lie I love the cast. Fun Fact: Sanji's actior took martial arts classes to do his own stunts and learned how to cook for this. Also Inaki met Oda and he said he was born to be Luffy. Even the cast says he's like Luffy naturally it's like he's not acting he just is Luffy 😂
I love when an actor or actress really get into their character, although with one of my favorite actors Jim Carrey he took his Man on the moon Andy Kaufman character tooo serious.
They really found the perfect person to play luffy it's actually crazy but also got to give it up to the writers that captured his speech and actions so well
Don't worry about the comparisons, it's impossible not to do. That's totally how he got the scar; the wee eejit, i love him. I think Lucky Roux is the best cast character; the man just exudes the exact right feeling. The guy playing Luffy is also awesome, no idea how they found someone with Luffy energy, but he's got it. Personally love Garp too, Scottish, you know? "Is that Luggy in real life" You know, Oda said something pretty similar. My advice would be to extend the reactions, maybe into 2 parts per episode considering the length of them as it felt a bit jumpy trying to fit it all in (you do you though). Can't wait for the next one, as per usual.
Honestly the cast was Incredible, they all seemed to love the Journey and invested time in the story. I only had problem with the storyline. But besides that it was really good season 2 should be fun
I'm all jacked up on mountain dew! (well...Dr. Pepper actually) but welcome to the live action! I think the casting is good for the show and there's some fun easter eggs for fans of the show. Glad that you enjoyed it, as always take your time on your journey. Thanks for the video!
I'm totally with you on the voices thing, which is why I watched it in Japanese, since the original voice cast for the anime did that dub. It was a little weird, of course, but you get used to it. Then again, the same can probably be said for just watching it in English.
A couple details. The LA is more based more on the manga than the anime so how Luffy got his trademark scar is accurate to the source material, just that they censored in the anime. Another deep cut is the fight with Mr. 7 which is fight we knew happened (Zoro talks about it in Whiskey Peak) but never saw. Oda in a Q&A section of the manga called "SBS" did draw the original mr. 7 that Zoro killed before the start of the story and they made him perfect here. Note that the anime in general still more fateful adaptation since the LA did change some major things to fit 8 episodes (like Nami meeting Luffy in Shells Town instead of Orange Town), the anime however was more censorship (especially at the beginning) and lacks some information manga readers have due to cover stories and the SBS. Both are great IMO
GIRL I WAS *WAITING* FOR YOUR FRESH TAKE ON THE LIVE ACTION! You're the type of reactor that's needed for more positive feedback on how well the creator Matt Owens did with Oda's series. But, these actors were chosen by Oda himself, so these are based off of what they would be if they were real people~
I remember it came out that Oda was iffy on Luffy's actor. After seeing him audition he told the staff "You found Luffy." One of the reasons this series as done so well is that EVERYTHING had to go through Oda.
The things you don't recognize might be things they pulled from the manga/ question corner with Oda. Things to that you never see in the anime. Of course they also took creative liberties with the story structure to make it fit in 8 episodes but they really tried to appeal to the hardcore fans that would recognize all those things like cloths and music and background stuff like pandaman. While it's definitely not perfect it's a love letter to the fans and I just love that
Yay! I'm so excited you get to experience the live action finally. I teared up a lot from nostalgia and happiness from how carefully it's crafted. You've fall in love in with the Straw Hats all over again. I can't wait to watch it happen!
Definately check out ALL the little easter eggs when you can. Like the wanted posters showed characters we know like Foxy, Bellamy, Jango, and so on. Actually the design team went through thousands of pannels in Oda's manga and even the bottles of Rum are from the manga and anime. These guys are fans.
6:52 Not that Mr. 7. That’s the one that *replaced* the one in the live action show after Zoro killed him. This fight, even though it wasn’t *shown* in the anime, *did* happen in the anime, it was just offscreen.
When you finish the next arc of the anime, make sure you go back to the scene in the live action where Shanks is stitching up Luffy's face and enjoy the background music. :')
The cast is about perfect. It's very easy to see them as that character. Some things are more accurate, some things are less accurate than the anime. Luffy cutting his eye, for instance, is correct and in the manga, we find that out early. Zoro actually meeting up and ending number 7, while it happens, we don't actually see it. There's a lot they cut and changed, but they only have eight episodes to work with, so they had to do something. Keep your eyes open for Easter eggs. There are quite a few. It's hard not to compare it, but this is still really well done, especially considering the limitations they had.
I know you were startin to get emotional (I'm like 2 minutes in at time of commenting) so imagine people that been watching for years! I've only been caught up for 2 years now but there are those that started over 20 years ago that are seein this sayin they can die happy now as they're completely obscured by tears. No matter how long we've been, we're Nakama fasho
Omg Queen ive been waiting.yoir reaction for this ever donce u started watching anime episode 1 😂❤❤❤❤ Thanks a lot for giving us the chance to experience one piece again as a beginner!❤❤❤
I think the way they condensed the episodes work well! Introducing Gary this early was due to the budget, they needed a secondary story line that wasn’t too expensive, but it doesn’t seem forced and helps with the earlier world building.
You NEED to react to the behind the scenes stuff once you drop all the videos (if you haven't already). There's a ton good ones Netflix put out like Inaki (Luffy) meeting Oda and meeting Luffy's VA Tanaka-san. Thos are adorable but there's a bunch of ones with just the crew gushing over the experience of filming the thing. Bunch of good stuff. We sail with the Queen! 🏴☠😁
Just a head's up. The live action show takes bits from the manga as well, and yes. This is exactly how Luffy got his scar. That said, the Live Action condenses a lot and changes the ordering of events here and there. But ultimately everyone agrees it was done well and with respect. It is ultimately a good adaptation and I'm all in for seeing you react to the whole thing.
There are some things with this LIve Action that are more accurate than the Anime, since Oda was directly involved. Getting Luffy's scar origin being one thing. But also when you get to Sanji's backstory, that's a big one.
Reminder of minor spoilers for episodes around 500 in the live action and there’s a prequel anime based on the manga before the one piece that’s mentioned in thriller bark so watch after that.
Yeah, since i enjoyed watching Johnny Depp I gave it a try and love it and anything with Robin Williams with hook I gave it a go. (Can't believe I forgot that one) One Piece is officially on the list of pirates I love
No spoilers - Since you have seen the anime, just the things left out from the manga. 1) Zoro on Sixis island is only explained as a random comment later in the story, never shown - So this scene DID happen canonically, it just wasn't shown in the anime/manga. (I could explain where the comment is, but that would be a spoiler)
Zoro did start there in the manga, but in the anime it was reduced to a single throw away line. Zoro basically said they tried to recruit him. The Mr 7 you met in the anime is the replacement to this guy.
Making a live action Luffy is pretty difficult just because of how goofy he is. And while I still don't think Inaki quite hit the nail, he definitely has "Luffy energy" if that's a thing lol. Even off camera he has those same Luffy vibes. It's great.
@@NewsofPEremember all the characters were cast straight from Oda. Oda also did release where each strawhat would of been from with luffy being Brazilian, ussop being african, nami being Swedish, Zoro being Japanese, chopper being from Canada, franky being american, robin being Russian, brook being Austrian and Jimbei being from india.
Altho I have some issues with Inaki's acting (and with somenlines they make him say) he is still perfect to be Luffy, he just need to be more familiarized, love him so much
Idk why but I had kinda assumed you already saw this lol but I’m excited to see your reaction having followed some of your journey with the anime 💙 I thought they did a really good job especially with the casting and sets. It really FEELS like one piece.
Yess Queen is watching the live action let's goo Waited for no spoilers until anime got the Garp reveal I think the reactions are similar from people who start with live action and then do the anime first episode, the similarities are cool and weird and eerie for everybody
One of these days you should check out the differences between the anime and manga. Alot of interesting changes but most importantly there are coverstories that are canon! Cool stuff with Ace and other characters that we know. A few of them are animated but most aren't.
So I thought the live action adaptation was actually pretty good. They had years of story already laid out so they are able to streamline events much easier and reference future characters & events rather easily. Like at Rogers execution we saw a young Mohawk on the crowd among others. I feel the cast of the show start off solid but improve as the season goes forward and they get more comfortable in the roles.
Fun fact: Luffy stabbing himself in the face is manga canon! Also, Luffy is canonically Brazilian (kinda. No Brazil in the One Piece world.) That said, the actor looks closer to what he'd look like irl! Next season for the Baroque Works Saga, I hope they hire a ton of semitic actors for Alabasta seeing as it's based on semitic countries like Egypt, Iraq, and Palestine. Funner fact: Semitic is Afro-Asiatic, so people from around that region of the world.
No Lie ... I am LOVING your One Piece Journey.
Thank you, I’m having so much fun watching these!
Honestly. Like ite feels like I'm a kid again watching every new episode with my friends 😂🥹
Yeah Queen's energy and vibes match perfectly with one piece😅
me too Queen plus the Edits added in sooooo good!!!!!!!!!!
Me too - definitely one of the most authentic and genuine OP reactors😀
I think Inaki godoy, the actor playing luffy, was the perfect fit for a live action luffy. Realistically, you just can't adapt luffy himself into live action, but Inaki's performance and manerisms are the perfect adaptation of luffy's personality
Yes! The whole crew are perfect

@@OneEyeKillahBeeikr Chris Pratt would have been marvelous instead.
They bring the characters to life in their own ways, and those ways are perfect for this world they've created.

Ohhh ok, I forgot about that.

Near the end: Is that Luffy in real life?
All of our reactions xD
Yess Queen is watching the live action let's goo
Waited for no spoilers until anime got the Garp reveal
I think the reactions are similar from people who start with live action and then do the anime first episode, the similarities are cool and weird and eerie for everybody
One of these days you should check out the differences between the anime and manga. Alot of interesting changes but most importantly there are coverstories that are canon! Cool stuff with Ace and other characters that we know. A few of them are animated but most aren't.
I am absolutely loving this! you are the best, Queen!!!! 💗
I just noticed the song playing during the devil fruit scene but she doesn't know about it yet.. grrrr
you should watch the interview luffy's actor (forgor his name) did with Oda
Yeahhh! Live action we finally here! :D
7:30 Before watching this I was crying but after I saw this video show up I clicked it and this reaction cleared my depression for tonight lol
Buggy is going to be your favorite character
i have never watched the live but damn!! Zoro really cut someone into pieces, omg!
20:44 Months Minutes they both start with an M close enough
IM ALL JACKED UP ON MOUNTAIN DEW... anyway take your time queen
I'm here for it all!
I love she watched 324 episodes of OP just to watch the live action lol
Do you have an idea of an actress who'd fit Vivi? (Genuine question)
Definitely not the same as the anime but I loved the adaptation
