I just wanted to say what an inspiration you are to me Nikki. ❤ This world doesn't have enough true Ladies, women who are kind, graceful and gracious, wonderful etiquette, modestly yet elegantly dressed, good homemakers, organized, active and working hard yet taking time to enjoy God's blessings, etc. But you are indeed one of them. You're a great example to all. ❤
The way you described the sunlight coming into your home was so beautiful. The apron your daughter made was beautiful to hear the joy in both of your voices to me was priceless,Thank you for sharing your nightwear and encouraging me to change out mine.
I had a similar epiphany a few years ago when it came to my loungewear/sleepwear. One day I looked in the mirror as I had a messy bun and was wearing sweats and a baggy tee and suddenly I was overcome with this feeling. I didn’t like how I was presenting myself and felt really frumpy! Why is it that we resort to “our worst” (like you said) at home? And then I thought about my husband and how this is how he saw me most, and while I don’t think he cared 😂 I realized I didn’t want to be giving him the dribs and drabs! In that moment I swore I’d never wear a messy bun again or sloppy loungewear because I realized it didn’t make me feel good! That’s when I transitioned to nightgowns only (and only dresses) and it made such a difference! I stick to cotton nighties as I don’t like the feel of polyester on my skin, although I love how beautiful those nightgowns look! In the colder months, I have some cute and cozy long flannel ones! I could stay in a nightgown all day and still feel good about myself vs sweats and a messy bun. I spent the first few months postpartum almost exclusively in button down nighties because that was easiest, but it helped me not feel frumpy or unkept during that season!
I too, greatly enjoy how light filters through a house, and shifts through the day. I love that our bedroom and our kitchen and laundry are on the east. The sun rises to great me or I it, and together we share the morning routines. In the evenings, it's shining through the living room and dining room windows, which is pleasant for watching the sun set, and sewing while my husband watches his show or plays a game and children filter through. Your house is so lovely! Was it built and styled just for you?! Caught in time, waiting for your life to get to that stage to move?
Your opening words about the sunlight are so beautiful, Nikki! There is nothing more luxurious than wearing beautifully feminine nightwear. Upgrading my nightwear as a first step to becoming more feminine was an excellent choice. Now I look back in dismay at those sad cotton night shirts I used to wear! Also, it’s amazing how changing out the buttons on a dress or cardigan can totally elevate the look of the piece. The charming pearl cluster buttons you chose for your cardigan really upgrade the look and makes it so much more personal to your style aesthetic, which I love so much. You have exquisite taste 💗
Beautiful apron! Your daughter did a wonderful job ❤ I updated my sleepwear a few years and it has been a game changer. I buy my sleepwear and my undergarments from a lingerie shop. I take advantage of the seasonal sales. I live in Canada and our winters are brutal. A flannel or fleece housecoat is a must have for me haha
I remember, as a little girl growing up in the 70s, those beautiful nightgown/dressing gown sets and wanting one so badly. It's so nice that you've discovered them and are giving them a second life. The apron that your daughter made is gorgeous! And your wish to have them go all the way around the body is so smart. Bravo to both of you!
I loved the tour of night dresses! My husband bought me some beautiful silky fabric for Christmas. I’m trying to decide the style of night dress I want to make with it. This was so helpful in coming up with ideas!
She really is, I hope to encourage her talents as she hopes to earn her own income. We are still ironing out some details and growing a stock of them but once we launch, I’ll make a special announcement 🌹
I'm right with you, typically I would wear a cotton nightgown but I've switched these types of sets to wear in the evening and put on the cotton before I go to sleep. I feel the ventage sets are so glamorous and makes me feel very feminine! Thanks Nikki great video!
Hi Nikki beautiful video, starting with reflections in the morning it is a wonderful part of a day. Your night gowns are gorgeous, l used to wear them but now l do love satin pjs short leg in the summer and long in the winter, l love different colours. The apron your daughter made is beautiful such a talented lady. It looked fabulous on you Nikki. ❤❤
Aylines- just beautiful, Ava! Over the past 27 years of homemaking, I have been known to cut up the back of dresses and skirts, sewing edges and adding a waist tie to get the perfect coverage of an apron. I could repurpose things or find things thrifting to make inexpensive aprons. Back in the “denim jumper” age, cutting up the back of one of those became the perfect apron for protecting my dresses in the garden and the barn. Your beautiful aprons offer the perfect look and coverage. Well done!
Aylines This video was beautiful. I especially loved the pause in the music/speaking while you made your coffee and took that first sip. Ahhh, so calming. I find nearly all my night wear at Thrift Stores. I love the long vintage pieces too, but find I continually reach for my really short nighties since I don't like a tangle of fabric working its way up around my midsection... I guess I don't really sleep 'like a lady' 😅
I loved your thoughts on the light coming into your home. I thought I was the only one who loved the way the light moved through my home at different times. Your night gown sets are beautiful ❤ I remember the Miss Elaine sets from the 70's.my mother, aunt and older cousin wore them❤❤ Ayla aprons are beautiful
Your nightwear are beautiful and vintage which i love and i will make sure to have the same style. your apron that your daughter made is beautiful as well good video, keep going ❤.
Aylines work is so lovely! Congrats to both of you for the new design! I so enjoyed this video. When I was a little girl, my mom had several sets similar to the ones that you showed. I loved to play dress up in them - all flowy and soft and such pretty colors. Thank you for the memory and for the reminder of beauty in every detail. I will certainly be looking to start my own lovely collection. Fabrics really do matter in how one feels.
Thank you for another inspiring video!! I appreciate how you make our everyday beautiful! Could you put a link to the pink dress that you are wearing! Love, Michele
Your dresses and sleepwear are beautiful but I am a lady who prefers jeans or slacks. I wear dark-wash jeans with a gorgeous blouse, a matching cardigan, and flats for the day. I always wear makeup perfume and jewelry. My nightwear is pajama sets in greys, navy, pink, and black that I can mix and match with a navy or black robe. i wear dresses for church and special social occasions.
I love you Nikki 💝you are a beautiful soul …you should publish your beautiful writing … bring tears to my eyes ♥️♥️♥️ May our lord and savior keep you so tight in His arms forever and ever 🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻
I love wearing 100% cotton or rayon nightwear. I wear some nightgowns in spring and summer, but I tend to want cozy flannel PJs in fall and winter. Pretty, but warm. 😊
Dear Nikki, such a lovely video again! I got inspired and went to poshmark(never bought anything in poshmark before). I typed vintage nightgowns. The options coming up are not beautiful as the ones you bought. Please tell me how and what to search for? Thank you so much for teaching me all these things. Love, Harita
I was going to ask the same question! I did the same. I'd also really like to know what a reasonable price point at the moment is, if you're comfortable sharing that information. I have seen a few pieces at an antique store, but they were out of my price range. But maybe that's just what they cost...
I usually type in Vintage Lace Nightgown, Vintage Lace Peignoir Set, stuff like that. Always click the sort "just in" button which shows you most recent uploads and yes, there is a lot to sift through. When you know what brands you gravitate towards, that can help narrow things down too, add that to the search. I hope this helps 🌹
Such a peaceful video today! Your daughter is a very talented seamstress, and the apron reflects the lady of the house perfectly. I would love one, but unfortunately France Post would charge an arm and a leg for reception. They've been known to charge more than the value of the contents to the receiver of any package sent from outside the EU. Still, hugs to you and Ayline for all your hard work!
Aylines, this is the kind of apron that even I seek after. Especially as someone who enjoys hosting others. It’s the perfect apron for hosting as you said. 💖
I'm so happy to hear your joyful appreciation of your new home, while describing how the gift of light makes it come alive. God truly blessed you when He provided this beautiful home for you. It's perfectly suited for you. Praise God for His goodness. 🙌 💝
Love Dresses & Gowns so much I wear one for EVERYTHING! Got rid of all my pants and tops just to make room for more dresses & gowns! My favorite are maxi-length dresses that go all the way to the floor, which are hard to find when one is 5'10". I love doing everything in maxi-length dresses & gowns and don't mind or care if it is weird or inconvenient(actually kind of like it when my dress/gown gets in the way and I have to hike it up or work around it, it reminds me I am wearing my favorite clothes). If everyone else is going to go out in public every day in hideously fugly, baggy sweat pants all the time in the name of comfort, then I will do the same in the clothing I find most comfortable on me: full-length maxi dresses & gowns. I will be the change I want to see :)
Beautiful dressing gowns and aprons. Aylines. Femininne aprons such as these are hard to find. And the in-seam pockets are brilliant. Many blessings to you and your daughter.
Aylines! Gorgeous and so feminine! Also, in my favorite color. I will definitely be buying one if you start selling it. Your daughter did an amazing job. You two remind me so much of me and my daughter whenever she made an original drawing for me. I miss her 😢 Thankfully, she is planning a visit to the US this year. I wear old fashioned feminine nightgowns to bed. It feels better than wearing t-shirts.
I consider the colors within my wardrobe monthly as I usually like a bit of a refresh. Next month I'll be focusing on pinks, creams and burgundy/reds most likely, March will be greens and blues, etc. 🌹
The apron is beautiful. Nikki have you ever thought about writhing a book. You are so good at drawing a picture when talking. You are a beautiful lady inside and out.
Yes, I have 2 books published and a 3rd in the works. Those should be linked in my description box. Thank you so much for the encouragement and kind words 🌹
Did you see the pinky orange full moon these last couple nights? So pretty against a blanket of snow. I love taking in all of the little seasonal changes like you mentioned. I've been getting my nightwear from montelle. The midi chemise with the feather style top part in a dusty rose color. I would like to find something longer and with sleeves though.
Nikki, I have a practical question for you. Your nightwear collection is so beautiful. Do you feel it provides enough coverage for situations where you may be in mixed company? For example, if you were hosting house guests or visiting family members as a house guest. Or would you have other pieces for times like that? Or would you just get fully dressed for the day before coming into the main living spaces? Thank you!
Question: I am curious as to how you control static cling with your dresses and nightwear? I am a veritable magnet for it, and it ruins more moments for me than I would care to mention.
I haven't really had many issues with that though if there is any cling, I'll just spray a little fabric refresher or water mixed with a dash of softener in a spray bottle 🌹
How often do you change the cloth under the dishrack when it gets wet? Do u always wash the dishrack? Don't u use the tray alongwith it? It gets rusty too very quickly. Dish rack is a headache for me..its vry hard to reach the corners on it..
Usually each day. It's a good idea to wash with a scrubber brush as that gets the hard to reach areas and it can be submerged in bleach water to disinfect 🌹
Nikki got me started on my night sets collection last year! Everything she says is true💓! It’s a joy to wear them…also…I have light pink vintage Olga set I’d like to sell if anyone is interested! Please delete, Nikki, if you prefer.
You live in a colder climate now so I wonder what you keep your heat set at in order to not be cold in the mornings as you move around the house. I know I would not be warm enough in the winter months
I usually turn the heater off at night because I like to breathe cold air and found the heater wakes me up. I turn the heater on at 71 because that's what my husband wants it set at when he gets out of bed but then he turns it off when he starts the fire. I wear silk long johns most of the time. Though, when I get moving around the house, I can easily get warmed up 🌹
I have worn elegant satin nightdresses and negligees all my life. I love the fabric on my skin. I’ve never worn trousers ever. I love my elegant dresses, always 50s style and I wear matching poofy petticoats. Then, when I found your channel a couple of years ago, it made me happy to watch someone who embraces the same style as myself. ❤
Nikki, I sincerely enjoy your videos but I do wish they were not so long. Thank you for making them though. You mentioned one of your beautiful nightie's sleeve got in the way when washing the dishes. I think you could easily place some thin elastic under the edge to rectify this.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment, Debra! I really appreciate your support and the kind words about my videos. I hear you on the length-I've received feedback from others in the community who enjoy the longer format, but I understand it’s not for everyone. It's my goal to have a balance of both. And as for the sleeve issue, thank you for the clever suggestion! That sounds like a great idea, and may give it a try 🌹
Nikky I usually like your content but I find today’s content incredibly boring and shallow, there’s a raging fire in Los Angeles and you are prattling on about apron and nightdress
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. My content reflects what’s happening in my home, and right now, that includes sharing things like aprons and helping the ladies who asked about nightwear because that’s my specialty. It may seem small, but unless I get excited about these simple things and share them, we could risk losing our home. It might not be through something as dramatic as a fire, but it would still be heartbreaking for my family. I also couldn’t imagine covering every tragedy in the world on my channel-it would leave me feeling depressed and miserable, and there is always something. It’s okay for me to offer my audience an escape from all that, a chance to focus on something different and what we can control as the lady of the house like appreciating the small things in our own homes. Everyone has their own way of providing for their families, and it’s important to avoid judgment in how others navigate their challenges. If when you are consumed by such things, watching anything but those tragedies triggers you, maybe avoid channels that don’t make that their aim. Thank you for understanding.
Aylines! Love the love with your daughter…they are the best!
Aylines... so beautiful
Thank you 🌹

Nikki got me started on my night sets collection last year! Everything she says is true💓! It’s a joy to wear them…also…I have light pink vintage Olga set I’d like to sell if anyone is interested! Please delete, Nikki, if you prefer.
That sounds lovely! I do prefer it, where is it for sale?
Where did you move to? I missed that.
Utah
You have a lot of catching up to do then 😉 We are in Utah now 🌹
Also…AYLINES👏🏼✨💓
That last scene with you and your daughter 🙂

That 5:40ish mark reminds me so much of Pollyanna ☀️🌈😊
I was going to order a few of those sweater dresses you linked. But I’m only 5 ft do you think they run long
I'm 5'4" and you can see where it lands on me. Longer is better in the winter/fall in my opinion 🌹
@ okay thank you mija I think I’m going to order one and if it’s way too long I can sell it on Posh ❤️

GOODNESS. Nicki ! Excellent Video !!!! Thank you for sharing. The hemming on those aprons are a lot of curve detail. ! Amazing can’t say enough!!! 🌹👍
Thank you! I’m so glad you liked it 🌹
Nikky I usually like your content but I find today’s content incredibly boring and shallow, there’s a raging fire in Los Angeles and you are prattling on about apron and nightdress
Thank you for sharing . Gosh a beautiful video . Everything you said 🥰 . Your daughter is so talented it is beautiful ❤️. AYLINES💛. 🇬🇧💛🤍
