Goldbacks look absolutely beautiful. You aren't going to buy 100 ounces worth of gold in them, but you don't need to - the are for trading small amounts so you only need a small amount. The premium you pay on them is pretty understandable for the high production quality.
I bought plumbing supplies in Orem utah with my Goldbacks! They love 💕 them there. I also bought cherries from a cherry farmer with them. Awesome 😎 easy and fun!
Wow! Thank you for this video! I have mostly been buying fractional gold in the 1 gram or less category because of the more attainable upfront cost. I was turned off Goldbacks because they advertise the premium as 70%. I thought it was a rip-off, but I've probably been paying around 70% or MORE for most of the fractional gold I've been buying since college anyway. I'm going to put a premium calculator on my phone and when I get my tax return, I'm buying the lowest-premium 1oz coin I can find and spending the remainder on Goldbacks. No reason to buy gold fingernail clippings at the same or higher premium than goldbacks. Subscribed!
As a plus point, unlike a goldback, you at least stand some hope and chance of reclaiming your premium should you be able to unload you fractional gold slowly on eBay.
I dig how this video teaches the little unknown / unspoken of ways to stack ...i buy jewlery @ garage sales and thrift stores. Do pretty good... But the best is getting your name out there to buy from people, needing rent, or phone money, insurance, ext. Just need a smelting pot now😁. The liquor goldslauger has body safe gold foil in it...not sure if its real or how much, but allways wondered
This is probably your best video so far for the masses and for the world. It's not real numismatic, but it's a lot of valuable information. I'm proud of you for having the idea and for executing it so well. Buying edible gold was a creative move. Thanks for wasting your money to make an educational and useful video! I hope this becomes your most watched, and I hope it brings in new faces.
Thanks Mark! I hope it becomes my most watched too lol. It's my pleasure to continue the tradition of throwing away my hard earned money to teach everyone a bit more about precious metals and coins (and maybe make them smile). Thanks for your part in making this happen as well!
Thank you. I got my free goldback when you told me how. I'm going to get a set of all of them. Mostly because of the art work. The only stacking I do is silver coins and whatever gold I find on the steets. Ten to fifteen years ago an earing would be 1-2 bucks now more like 30-40. Peace love & jello. TomCat
Hey TomCat, I've also found several gold earrings over the years. It's really surprising how much some of them end up being worth. Sure beats finding a "lucky" penny lol
I've started getting into jewelry a little bit. I've discovered that scrap is a big thing. I haven't gotten into it, but a lot of people are buying lots (like auction lots) of 14k, 10k, etc, of broken up necklaces, rings with gems removed, etc, called scrap. Because of the price it goes for, I have doubts that jewelers are buying it to remake things with.
People talk crap on fractional gold but it’s really the only way I can continually add gold to my stack. The time to save up the money makes it a challenge to buy an ounce.
Just order my first goldbacks yesterday, wish I knew buying a single 5 Utah back would be cheaper than 5- 1 utah backs but live and learn, makes sense why though just wish I knew 😂
I was recently in New Mexico. Most of the people I meet were really interested in the Goldbacks I had. I ended up selling all 27 of the ones I had with me.😊
This is a great video! And yes I did learn some things. I have purchased some goldbacks and think they are the perfect solution for my investment purposes. My best friend thinks I'm crazy and wasting my money. He invests in money market funds, stocks and bonds. But I want nothing to do with any of that. To me that is no different than cash -- it's all fiat currency and isn't really "backed" by anything! I want something I can hold in my hand and don't need an internet connection to access any of it. For the time being, I will continue to invest in goldbacks and recommend others do so as well. But that's just my opinion :)
The Canadian 1 gram gold Maple that comes in packs of 25 is a pretty decent price. Currently on SD Bullion, you can get the 25 pack for $1735, or $69.4/gram, which is just a 13.1% premium. I wouldn't use one of them to buy some eggs and bread, but it is still a pretty cool option.
I totally hear that and agree with you. I should have explicitly stated it in the video, but I excluded anything that you can only buy in bulk. I didn't see any of those maples for a good price individually
i really liked this video, very imformative, i just wish the X axis of the graph was arranged by increasing order of weight, that way we could more easily see if there is a correlation between premium and weight of purchased gold in these smaller values.
Excellent and yes please, small silver currency solutions that aren't susceptible to counterfeiting. LOVE the Goldback and would similarly LOVE the idea of Silverback equivalents. I'll be looking to shop for Goldbacks in person using cash. Surveillance will be the end of freedom.
Oh man I used to watch you years ago, its good to see you are still doing well. I remember there was this nutcase who would obsessively go after you the first couple years you started posting, hope the guy got help or at the very least isn't bothering you anymore.
Hey welcome back! I remember that guy too lol. He sort of disappeared after a little while. There will always be trolls and haters, but that guy was something else lol. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Have it made into a nice mug, and then enameled to look like steel granite ware. That way when we get sent to the FEMA camps you might be able to keep that particular hunk of gold. Buttons are another good way to disguise gold, as most folks would think it was just shiny brass...
I bought a gram of natural gold nuggets from liquidbullion on eBay, it was 30mesh flakes and since it’s natural gold its purity lands somewhere between 70-90% I only paid $65 for it at the time. The flakes are super small but the premium is pretty low on the chart. Surprised you didn’t include any natural gold nuggets, (other than paydirt) give it a try, i have yet to test the gold, I have an acid test kit but haven’t done it yet the flakes are so small, but I’ll get on that soon and let you know.
Thanks for the vid - loved it! :D It's something along the lines that I would do, but you did it so now I don't have to, haha. I can and did like and subscribe for the worthy undertaking though! 👍🏼Also, on the note of the Goldbacks (pun intended), they look STUNNING and I love the whole idea and philosophy behind them! Few days ago I ordered a whole set of the Utah 2020 releases (with Goldback wallet) so can't wait to get them, admire them, and attempt to use at them at an Australian Farmer's/Craft Market. Will se how I go. Cheers! 🍻
Great review. Small correction on the price of the 0.1g cashgold from Karatbars though. At time of writing (2 days after publishing this video) the cost of the 0.1g Karatpay Cashgold directly from the company's website is €6.38, which it only reached when spot crossed US$1900/oz. For the past several weeks the price was average €6.15 - €6.20 which is nowhere near US$17.95 as stated in the video. Im not sure where it was purchased but it was never that high from the company (theres even a price history report on the site to confirm this) which means unfortunately that someone oversold you, thus skewing the review. Another positive feature that was missed was the inclusion of security featurs such as the integrated blacklight marks. Also, the negative reference to MLM as a pyramid scheme seems to reflect a personal bias, or misunderstanding between the differences between the terms. The SEC via the Investor.gov website provides guidelines to help persons distinguish legal network marketing companies from illegal pyramids disguised as MLMs. Karatbars passes the test as a legal network marketing company. Just an FYI. Keep up the great work. :-)
Semantics. Network Marketing is still MLM. MLM actually thrives/encourages on the Marketing within your Network to make sales and therefore screwing all your friends and family.
Hey Michael, really appreciate the response. It's nice when someone who disagrees with me doesn't just hurl insults. I read your comment, but I have scoured the Karatbar website and there were no Karatpay items available. They only had various 1g bars available and the cheapest one was 80 Euros. Can you share the link to the items at the prices you're referring to? Also, I totally agree that MLMs are legal but that doesn't make them ethical. The vast majority of people who sell in an MLM lose money because that is exactly how they are designed to function. MLMs encourage people to sell overpriced products to their family and friends (who are then encouraged to do the same), who generally buy them in a show of support (not because they want to), but once they have to find real customers, they cannot succeed and end up being stuck with the bill on the inventory they had to buy outright. This is not simply my opinion on MLMs, but rather a fact that is well documented in academic business research. Really do appreciate the comment, though
I have two 1g bars and one 2.5g bar. The math does not add up on the premiums, but I may buy a few more in the future. I didn't even know they made 1/4 and 1/2 g pieces - and a 1/10g - then a 1 GRAIN???? YIKES. Man, you took a hit for the team to make this vid. LOL... That chart you made is awesome; it really shows what the price/premium really is. Goldbacks are cool. I might get a few of them just for fun. Thanks for doing this!
An important consideration is sellback value and how easy it is to sell back. For most of these items you won't get full spot value when selling them back. I think you'd be lucky to get 80-90% of the spot value for any of them, except perhaps for the coins and bars. In contrast, buying a 1/10th oz gold coin is fairly attainable for most people and you can sell it for its full spot value. In the case of American Gold Eagles, you can often sell it back to dealers for over spot. For those who can't afford a 1/10th oz gold coin, then silver is a better option than gold. You can get 1 ozt generic silver rounds for a reasonable price. You can also get fractional constitutional silver for cheaper, though the premium will be higher than for the rounds. The only gold I would consider of all those in this video would be the goldbacks. The premium on them is high, but not astronomically high. They look great, easy to store, easy to transport, and can potentially be used for barter. I'd consider some jewelry for investment, but only 24K, and only if I could get a good deal on it. Jewelry with less purity could be nice if you want it and enjoy it, but not so much for investment purposes.
Not only that but the Goldback has anti counterfeiting security features that those other products don’t have, as well as the fact that the premiums are the same across all denominations (unlike a 1/10 oz to an ounce of gold coins for instance), not to mention their usability in small transactions
Goldbacks are very interesting, I started buying cause I really like the designs. Yes would be interesting to see where Silverpicker can use Goldbacks.
I've used them in washington at antique ships and a deli. Oregon at a comic shop and in cali so far at a small coin shop to purchase a silver bar. They are still young product but as a Trucker I'm trying to spread them around and make everyone aware
I do the opposite with silver and gold. I buy them from refineries and turn them into jewelry and then resell them at a high markup. Gotta work smarter not harder.
This looks like my gold collection. Lol. Not kidding. I did get the small gold bar's in the laminated card's, but I paid $2.99 for 7 eBay bid and won. I'm now collecting goldbacks. I can afford them on a fixed budget. I can pick up a higher denomination bill send it back and exchange it for lower denomination and flip them. It's an almost 300% mark up when I flip one.😉 Just trying to hustle. Don't hate the player hate the game. Thanks for the video. It really helped.
Fun video, but how do you figure that a common premium for 1oz gold coins is 20%? It is more like 3 or 4%. Anyway, not to be nitpicky and that was a cool vid.
Goldbacks look absolutely beautiful. You aren't going to buy 100 ounces worth of gold in them, but you don't need to - the are for trading small amounts so you only need a small amount. The premium you pay on them is pretty understandable for the high production quality.
That is exactly right!

Yeah, definitely do a silver version.
Will do, Sean!

As a plus point, unlike a goldback, you at least stand some hope and chance of reclaiming your premium should you be able to unload you fractional gold slowly on eBay.
Most of that premium is because of the unique manufacturing process. And besides I bet you would pay more than scrap value for a working engine
This video was fun and entertaining as well as informative. Thanks.

Love GoldBacks. Real Money
That vid should help a lot of folks out. Nicely done.
Thanks a lot! I sure hope it does!
I would really like to see a video of you spending those gold backs. Very interesting content in this video.
Definitely going to make that happen!
I’m thoroughly looking forward to seeing this one! Thank you for sharing this information!
Glad you enjoyed, Patrick!
That was a pretty cool nugget of info!! Thanks!!
Glad I found this channel. This is what I am looking for.
Learned a good amount, thanks.
Thank you, Loved learning about the Gold backs 👍
Yes, do one on silver!!
Will do!
This was great! Good Job man. Goldbacks are definitely the superior fractional gold.
Silverpicker: Everyone can buy these North Korea: I don’t think so
North Korea can't watch jack
Speaking of N Korea, I actually once did a video on N Korean money!
Careful
Wowser Bowser? Another Nintendo reference. First Legend of Zelda sound effect, then the Super Mario Bro’s villain. Keep it up man!😁

Thanks for the video and the chart at the end, puts it into visual perspective.
So glad you enjoyed it. I put a lot of work into this one!

Did you mean to say less than? Because what you typed means greater than
An important consideration is sellback value and how easy it is to sell back. For most of these items you won't get full spot value when selling them back. I think you'd be lucky to get 80-90% of the spot value for any of them, except perhaps for the coins and bars.

Super interesting scheme! Love it!
Cool and informative video!
Thumbs up 👍
6:35 - it's not nEIdir 👎
It's nAdir with ,,A" like Adidas or Astonishing !
Fun video, but how do you figure that a common premium for 1oz gold coins is 20%? It is more like 3 or 4%. Anyway, not to be nitpicky and that was a cool vid.
Silverpicker, what do think of dental scrap? Would be interested to know your thoughts.
I've bought quite a bit of it. It's great, but make sure you know the karat!
Most definitely a silver version cheers 👍
