- I was indifferent on Gryphon until the discovery of AOE Backline Nuke on high initiative Gryphon. This team can dominate almost anything you throw at it due to the high speed backline freeze. It also can swap out other party members to patch weaknesses and it has very good mobility.

You should also give the angel the 'angel plume' item and make the passive of that item target the back row.
that item gives +20 initiative to the wearer -- so the angel will pretty much always go first -- and the passive buffs an entire rows initiative by 10 and flying units by 20. So your gryphon will out speed pretty much any enemy after that.
I did that with 2 gryphons in the back row, and it annihilates pretty much anything besides armored units.
Adding this freezing trick to that should make it beat pretty much anything.

And while you're at it, you might as well give your gryphon the heavenwyvern reins, which give it an additional 6 initiative and 10hp + a passive that gives it truestrike and +20% damage.
So now you also can't miss and do more damage.
I did that exact same combo of angel plume on ochlys and heavenwyvern on the gryphon hahah, except I put +ap pendant as the other item on gryphon and then instead of the other gryphon you could do something more effective for armours
Tbh since the mage itself does good damage to armours I'm not sure what's ideal for 4th - protection? healing? sweeper if anything manages to survive?
This is a great showcase of the sheer depth the combat system has. Can't wait to try out all sorts of combinations at launch.
ohhh so you can actually press A at the Witch tower and get this book. I thought I explored every nook and cranny of the demo. Nice to hear more stuff.
You can also do it with the Hunter Dual Shot, which if set up properly, can really target who you want (even 1 target in the back row and 1 in the front row). It's super flexible
I wonder if there's a use case for replacing the griffin knight with a housecarl. They get the multihit row skill at level 10, so they can debuff the front line's defense, do good damage to armors and possibly catch dodge tanks like thieves since the skill hits 3 times. With the frontline frozen, damaged and debuffed, it can give your knight, sellsword or warrior a great opportunity to get their killstreaks going. A stubborn front line character is usually what ends up stuffing my multikill setups, so I'm looking forward to giving it a shot.
This is really good combo, probably win against boss on many maps.
And it easy with 2 units combo, you can change others units to adapt on situations.
In the full game we could get even stronger debuffs, so this strategy could be used to just drown enemies in crowd control. The skill/knowledge ceiling of this game seems promising so far.
still need a minimum damage threshold or your stamina will become an issue
So this essentially gives the promoted witch skill where its just row based icebolt. Still great combo until you promote a witch and get it to high enough level.
See with the Shamans I make sure to keep the sword “Crimson Epee” that has the ap skill active shatter that takes away a action point that nullifies them which in this case just 1 of them and stops that the double debuff which is causing the issue 😂.
I actually found the Hoplite frontrow + 3 cavalry backrow to be the most annoying encounter in the demo. The backrow shamans + frontrow berserkers were oddly rly easy with Alain + runic sword, Octhlys, Yanha and Auch.
the hoplite with 3 cavalry backrow can easily be dealt with with a griphon or 2 and just put a mage or a witch to kill the hoplite

How would this work with the Gladiator's Wide Swing instead of the Gryphon Rider's High Swing?

With rolling axe and a housecarl you could freeze everyone. I know you love cav, and they’re good for sure, but it didn’t seem like they were doing much in this comp.
Knights rely on dealing killing blows to keep going. Hoplites and Gladiators can put a dent into this. Hoplites have enough defense and Gladiators enough hp and self heal to take the hits from Knights. Like with any sweeper you have to build around them and this comp doesn`t have something to counter Gladiators self heal. You could replace featherswords with thieves for their passive steal. Also his comp was a bit underleveled compared to the enemy.
How does freeze work with your own low initiative units breaking it? Will the enemy unit always act once they're broken or can very slow units go "after" them? I guess housecarls can freely break it since they trigger at the end?
You can have allies not attack frozen, or set it so that their first action doesn't if the 2nd could kill/1 round the enemy unit with conditions/logic
