I never understood the couples that consistently argue and fight are always the ones that get together. It really makes you wonder what the writers own opinions on romance is because often writing can be a small reflection of a person’s own interests.
@@Gamerguy-ud1zo EXACTLY- Like, instead of making a couple that fight and disagree with eachother all the time just make one where they understand and respect one another, actually make eachother happy, safe, comfortable and they become better people with the help of one another. I adore those types of ships but they're unfortunately uncommon, that's why when I actually find a ship like that I hold it close to my heart
You know what's even funnier? They already had two dragons that would fit Jormangander better, The Purple Death from the first book, and the Screaming Death from Riders/Defenders of Berk. These dragons are both serpent-like giants and can destroying entire islands. That fact that they made an entirely new dragon just for this just shows what little research they did
They should have just gone with the Purple Death. Not only is this dragon Massive, but the vikings actually thought tht it was the "Serpent of Midgard" aka Jormengandr. I was also implied that this dragon can survive in a state of hibernation for hundreds of years.
@@fionarodgers4806 That too, and they would've shown a dragon that wasn't in any of the movies or TV shows. We know they're not above reusing dragons from the original series and given that they made an entirely new dragon model, they could've made a 3D Purple Death model.
yea that thing was a huge disappointment. didn't even need a real design change, just be bigger. I'm not saying the design is great, it looks pretty bland imo. but if it was at least WAY bigger I'd have seen why every other dragon thought it was a threat. why Hiccup thought it was a threat. the Red Death and the Bewilderbeast is bigger than that thing. its not even that long either. it just looks like a Screaming Death rival. the idea of it just grabbing the Sky Torcher and killing it immediately is awesome, but it's just overshadowed by how much of a let down the size is.
So someone on tumblr came up with a cool idea in their own rewrite for the show where there’s a realm in the hidden world called Midgard (the human realm) where Viking decedents have been hiding for years to keep other humans out and the current dragon riders learn the names of other species from them and that’s where they get their saddles which I think is a super cool idea
The only reason D'Angelo is the only other non-hated character because he's a doormat. He just falls in line and goes along with the last person who spoke in a conversation.
And has no personality but the Alex slander he did i shall have him beaten for that he gets a pass this time cause he shit talk everyone else even tho i do want to like Eugene
@@FuzzyTheAnimator You do realize that the show runners watch these videos, read the comments and... Just saying... Save up for a new phone, or at least put it into a very good case.
1:05:26 Actually the closest thing he did to that was what he did to the Skrill, *BUT EVEN THEN* HICCUP REALIZES IT WAS WRONG AND REFUSED TO FREEZE THE SKRILL IN THE ICE FOR THE SECOND TIME PLUS HE KNEW THE SKRILL WOULDN'T DIE "If we do this, we are no better than the dragon hunters... We're just using a different cage" and he lets the Skrill go It's honestly EVEN MORE insulting to me that the Nine Realms would do this given that fact too imo smh
Speaking of the skrill where exactly are they?! The last time we saw one was back in season 2 finale and they haven't shown up since then, heck in the 50$ game they established that there's a bunch of skrills and are mortal enemies with the night lights yet they the show doesn't bother to bring them up
@@noctisastrum7495 well, it's a species, so they are probably hanging out somewhere Also I hate the fact they made them enemies... Like, the Skrill in the series only wanted to go after toothless and hiccup out of honestly understandable revenge for freezing it in the ice. That and the rivalry ended after that, you can see in Triple Cross Toothless and the Skrill getting along just fine HHH But hey, maybe I'm just salty because I actually love the fact Skills are probably the only dragon in the original series that didn't make Toothless look overpowered as hell 😔
@@clobertina8176yeah i feel you. The only reason why i brought it up cause the show tried to make it seem like the skrill will reappear and have some climatic fight with thunders family yet they decided to use the snow dragons for whatever reason. But besides the skrill i do hope the actual try to make the jormungandr into a complete menace cause them selling it as the apex dragon is an extremely tall order to fill
@@clobertina8176 To be fair with the skrill and light fury garbage, the ORIGINAL series does push the fact that the the night fury and skrill were natural competitors, but to say they had a full on rivalry is kinda BS.
They’re gonna push Alex and Eugene. There’s an oddly prevalent amount of chemistry between them. And repeated instances of small scenes between them. Eugene saving Alex. Eugene holding onto Alex. The other characters don’t do that. Even Tom and Jun don’t do that! I’m calling it.
Well, if they are going to push a romance with Alex in it that isn't with Tom, I would prefer it to be with Eugene than with D'angelo. But still, I prefer Tom and Alex.
That's the equivalent of Snotlout and Heather... if its Alex and D'Angelo it's basically the Fishlegs and Heather fling type thing from Race to the Edge... I'm not mad about fishleg being shipped with Ruffnut because they balance out. She's the crazy, high energy, free spirit and He's the Steady, Lovable, and all round kind guy. They do have balance same with Hiccup and Astrid... I don't actually think Snotlout or Tuffnut ended up with anyone 😔. I hate this new show... i want to pull a what Dragon Ball did with the nonexistent live action. They could have done so much more with the Nuffining and his sister Zypher(Hiccups and Astrids kids) and maybe even the other kids of New Berk but noooo. At this point it would've been better for us all if the series ended with Homecoming.
nah, they'll just pair him with Deangelo for representation... None of them deserve Alex. She probably realized that people suck and that she's the happiest when it's just her, her tablet and Feathers, the gang's all here. The rest of them can go and feed themselves to Jormundgandr.
To be honest, I don’t ship them and I never will but they are my two favorite characters, scratch that. They’re the only characters that deserve to live in the show Alex is, of course a queen and Eugene is just a dick to every other character, which just makes me like him, because he just makes June, Tom, and everybody else miserable.
1:05:27 the closest was the skrill but that was done to not only protect his tribe since it was attacking them, but also to prevent dagur from capturing it. when the skrill escaped in race to the edge (season 2 - episode 11), hiccup decided to let it go free because he realised trapping it the first time made him no better than the dragon hunters. long story short, HE ALREADY LEARNED HIS FUCKING LESSON. and the cherry on top, john tellegen was the staff writer for that episode
You know what's ironic, Jormungander actually appeared before the 2nd movie. For those who don't know this Dragon is called the Purple Death and appeared in the httyd comics. It's basicly a Red Death with more serpentine features and get this IT'S A HOLE LOT BIGGER THAN THE RED DEATH OR A BEWILDERBEAST!!!! This thing almost destroyed all of berk with it's size alone and it's fire is gigantic. It's even in the comic they even refer to it as Jormungander. You know what THAT'S FUCK IT!! For my final writing and character design in university I am gonna rewrite and redesign this whole show. Both characters and dragons are getting redesigned and the while plot rewriten. Honestly you and Audrey bruoth up some good notes to fix the show, I really didn't want this show to be bad, I had hoped for this show despite the bad character designs, I genuenly wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt, I wanted it to be good. I though it would be a rottmnt situation but unfortunately that was not the case. Aside from Alex being a Queen this show just gives the middle digit to every of fan of the franchise. I've watched httyd sence I was 7 years old and seeing it bastardized like this just hurts me. It's not just my childhood and everyone's frying disrespected but the work of dedicated writers and character designers, people I aspire to be some day and I hate seeing it getting disrespected only for corporate greed and gaslighting towards fans. This show is for us what the Velma Tv show was for both Scooby doo fans and all third party viewers.
YES! FUCKING YES TO THIS! Hell, go all out and make the ending the equivalent of Ragnarök: the final battle between good and evil to decide the fate of the nine realms. THAT'D BE FUCKING AMAZING!
Also wasn't Screaming Death already a reference to Jormungander ? It's serpentine like, it is able to "eat" whole islands, people on Berk thought that if it appeared there again it would be the "end of the world" (berk would be destroyed), it seems to just grow bigger and bigger with no end from what we've seen.
@jankeek8218 Not really the screaming death can grow quite big yes, but not enough to dwarf the Purple or red death and certainly not the Bewilderbeast. Also joemungander is a giant snake but it's mostly depicted as a sea serpent so it's kind of a yes and no there.
Well, Hiccup tried to imprison the Skrill, before changing his mind last second. He actually imprisoned a Deathsong. So to say he never thought of locking up a dragon for the greater good is just not true. BUT I still agree with everything said in the video. After all Hiccup did not freeze the Skrill again and the Deathsong was just trapped in a cave and got out again later.
I was just about to say he did something like this before with the skrill and just left it today but when it became free and got out again when he was older he realized it would have been cruel so why would he repeat that mistake when he’s about 30 and a father at the end of httyd you know the hood one that wasn’t by sh*t stains.
When he imprisoned the deathsong he knew it would escape though? He said it himself in the episode That and when he imprisoned the Skrill he knew it wouldn't die
If you think about it the symbol above the gate does not mean that Hiccup himself did it it could have been some of his descendants but the fact that the writers tried to pull that stunt and thought people would like it is fucking tone deaf and supreamly out of touch.
Hiccup realized how wrong it was for him to just lock a dragon away, it was the whole episode's lesson after all. And he knew the Deathsong would escape, he just needed to buy the Riders some time to get out of there.
During that animation, for a genuine moment I thought those were the actual voice actors for hiccup and Astrid until Fishlegs started talking lol... but even then, I wouldn't be opposed to all of you guys voicing a Httyd fan project because even through the jokes you all did a great job Voicing the characters.
Its not only that Jun is a terribly written, selfish character. She shows clear signs of a narcassistic and likely also a sociopathic personality disorder. One of the strongest signs is her move to bring herself in the victim position in a scene I can remember and gaslighting, as well as considering others simpleminded (and herself above them unironically) or trying to keep her brother out of the group/talking down to him, while he as a character does not even close as despicable stuff. Also she teamed up with evillady, while evillady was doing evil stuff and every one of Juns friends was telling her, that evillady was evil. That is the deuteragonist ...
I actually have a theory that Hiccup's symbol might have become a family emblem so it's possible that it wasn't him who trapped the dragon but one of his descendants
Watched the first episode of season 8, it was Hiccup. They directly showed him trapping the dragon in some of the most fucked shit this damn show has ever done. I'm seething.
@@snakeoi8189 yeah… they did this flashback thing with like shadows and stuff but it starts with an animation of Hiccup, just his legs, walking up to the dragon… They also did some other things that have me reeling in anger. Thank god that season 8 was the last one, this show is finally over.
Okay, let's take that skit with Hiccup, change it to only Fishlegs at the end, and turn Fishlegs to Tom, and Hiccup and Astrid to the viewers. Now, let's she what we have here. Tom: There is a great possibility that one day she will eat me alive! The viewers: Like your girlfriend? Tom: Like my girlfriend! I'm in a very unhealthy relationship guys. I knew I should have dated Alex. The viewers: We all knew you should have dated Alex.
It'd be funny if Hearts of Heroes ended with Tom feeling Jun wasn't worth the mental anguish after being trapped alone with her, and it's the start of him seeing more of a relationship with Alex. Even funnier if he started becoming a better character afterwards.
So after insulting Hiccup by throwing his leg to a random dragon, the prducers has the guts to say he left a dragon in a cage with no water and food. thoses peoples are horrible, they are the real villains of the sow not Buzzsaw 😯
Yeah, plus fenrir should be much bigger. He was described to be the size of mountains and kingdoms. And there should be something similar to his chains. Like long strands of silk on it's hide or smth.
Okay, the ONLY way I can defend the Jörmungadr being locked up is that is was a “needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” moment. Note I’m only doing this to defend Hiccup, not this series. Forget this series. Let Jörmungadr eat everyone but Alex.
@@jankieek8218 Yeah, I don’t know why they didn’t just do that. All I got is Hiccup still couldn’t bring himself to do it and somehow knew Jörmungadr would go into a hibernation or something and not starve to death. We have seen dragons do that, and the impossible route isn’t as impossible when you remember that one Riders of Berk episode with the treasure “only a hiccup could find” Oh, god, I’m defending this series. Let me out!!!
@@drewluczynski9609 I will help you get out with this one, even if it could survive indefinitely with no food/water, that's even worse, it would be stuck there forever and ever and if it one day got released (whether by someone or because the gate would break because of time that passed) it's once again the problem for the rest of dragons. As sad as that maybe for Hiccup the only anwser here is to kill it just like with Red Death. (That is assuming it really is as dangerous as the show tries to hype it up, I for one can't see how it would kill a Red Death, Bewilderbeast or a Screaming Death.)
@@drewluczynski9609 also honestly I have no idea what their plan was with this one, since even if it is as dangerous as they say, Apex Predators don't just kill off all of their food supply. Like the whole motive that this dragon is so dangerous that it threatens to make other dragons go extinct clashes with how apex predators work in real life. (It would drive itself and all the dragons to extinction with how it is described)
@@jankieek8218 Yeah, the term "Apex Predator" just means that no animal naturally eats them. Which I still believe the Red Death could easily eat this thing, but you get my point. Also, there is a dragon they could have used where this would actually be believable. It's called the Purple Death. This dragon appeared in the comic "The Legend of Ragnarok" and not only is this serpentine dragon massive, but the Berkians actually thought that it was the "Serpent of Midgard" aka, Jormungandr. And, even its presence can disturb other dragons. Also, it was implied that this dragon can survive in a hibernative state for hundreds of years. In the comic, Hiccup used a Changewing it to hypnotize to sleep for "several thousand years or so." The Purple Death then fell back into the ocean. So they could have it encaged by the land itself, after all the years of erosion, instead of by Hiccup. And this would also give them an opportunity to use a dragon the other shows and movies didn't. They could literally just take the model from the game Dragons: Rise of Berk, and my entire rant could have been avoided.
I think if they wanted Jormungandr to be related to dragon's fear of eels... what the writers should have made the world serpent is a colossal ancient eel that Hiccup found that was known to hunt and kill dragons. Maybe add some details like it takes attributes of all the dragons it eats or something, silly but better than what we're getting. Maybe make it that the only known predator for this eel was one dragon species (maybe a reference to Nithhogg, who in Norse myths is from Helheim) but the species is nearly extinct and Hiccup found the last egg of the species , and the egg was yet to hatch and would not hatch for hundreds of years. Hiccup knowing this little unhatched dragon would need to be kept safe from Jormungandr very relucantly sealed the colossal eel in its own domain deep in the depths so he could save this one yet born Nithhogg. This could lead our group of abyssmal so called riders to find the now hatched dragon to try to stop this slimy aquatic terror now they've freed like morons. I dunno, maybe the Nithhogg was somewhat aware even in the egg and recognizes a similar scent from Thunder and Tom to Toothless and Hiccup? I hate that I made this up on my head on the fly and it's probably a dozen times better than anything we're gonna get
I think this was what each realm was to represent: Crystal Realm (maybe surface world too)- Midgard Fire Realm- Muspelheim Ice Realm- Niflheim King’s Realm- Asgard Nature Realm- Alfheim Giant Realm- Jotunheim Desert Realm- Svartalfheim Dark Realm- Helheim I think the silver area is supposed to be part of the Crystal Realm, so that means Vanaheim is the last realm. This leads to the question of whether or not it’s just going to be a rehash of RTTE’s Vanaheim. Other than that, this was a fantastic review and sorry this season in particular was such a pain.
I always thought it was something like: Crystal Realm- Asgard Fire Realm- Muspelheim Ice Realm- Niflheim King Realm- Vanaheim Nature Realm- Midgard Giant Realm- Jotunheim Desert Realm- Svartalfheim Dark Realm- Helheim So, I thought that the last realm would be something like Alfheim Side note: The Nature Realm could very well be Vanaheim, but then I guess I would put Alfheim as the King Realm, leaving Midgard as the final realm. And if they're counting the surface, then that's Midgard, and all the realms have been discovered.
1:12:14 there's a theory that nine realms fans have based on Norse myths that Jormungandr will progressively get bigger the more it eats, and that it was this small in season 7 because it had been starving for so long.
To describe this series, I’m gonna steal some Russian Badger quotes- “We need a terrible romance. So let’s just take Hiccup and Astrid… and do *none of that* .” “Welcome to the Nine Realms, how can we absolutely scam the shit of you today?”
I love the impressions to, I wish he can do that again in future videos, because that was funny. It was proving a point about hiccup, but it was also funny.
I honestly thought the dragon looked more like a goblin. I mean it's face has a sorta hook-like nose around the snout, which thinking back would actually be odd given how I don't think goblins are in norse lore. If they wanted it to be akin to a dwarf, why not make it more small and bulky with thick armor? Dwarves were known to be all that because they were forge masters and could make tough as nails weapons and armor.
I wrote somewhere in another video about how Tom and Jun's episode was more similar to Mi Amore Wing in RTTE due to the 'misunderstanding' in the episodes. Astrid was publicly friend zoned by her own boyfriend and unnoticed by him for a whole day (which was actually a habit from Hiccup) and yet she handled her anger and communicated 10x more maturely than Jun did to Tom (and Astrid is supposed to be violent and short-tempered). She did not mock him or insult Hiccup when she could have and even abandoned her grudges when Hiccup needed help. And even after that, she apologized first and admitted she was overreacting. If Astrid, who handled things way better than Jun, thought she overreacted, then what can we say about Jun? I never really saw the reason for the hatred of Jun but now I see it clearly. She is unbearable.
No . . . What it needs is salvation and I got the answer . . . *Loads shotgun* Boys I believe is about time we pay a visit to the DreamWorks' Offices for once and have nice pep talk with whoever approved of this show existing
You know, I didn't think that "Dragons The Nine Realms" would become an even bigger disgrace to the "How to train your Dragon" trilogy, but here we are at season 7 and the writers managed to make things worse by having Tom and Jun be a "couple," ignoring such a good character and only use her on only one episode, and completely DISRESPECT Hiccup in the worse way possible. Man, both Alex and Hiccup deserve better than to disrespected or mistreated like this as characters.
Like Henry Gilroy. He's worked on some of the greatest shows ever made like Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Batman: The Animated Series and now he's working on The Nine Realms
I keep on forgetting about and putting it off. At the start I could watch it fine, get through the whole “season” in less than a day. Now? Nothing significant or interesting ever happens in this show so I don’t even bother watching. I was about the closest thing you could call to a fan of this show but I’m no longer putting in the effort which isn’t even a LITTLE effort. How sad is that?
The Hiccup chained up the World Serpent thing kinda reminds me of the reveal in Legend Of Korra that Aang neglected Bumi and Kya. The difference is there's at least some nuance with LoK, in that it recognized that his neglect was wrong, while also acknowledging that Tenzin was the 2nd to last airbender in the world, so of course Aang would do everything he could to preserve his culture, even if he did end up neglecting his other children.
Try his nation. Add that to the fact that all air nomads were air benders and the children were raised in groups by monks and expecting Aang to be a good father by other standards is a fool's errand add his trauma of being THE LAST AIRBENDER and he is going to be biased toward his airbender who was also the only company that would make him feel like he is "home." Though that works only if you consider all the factors that are spread through the world building.
1:04:54 he did actually capture and trapped the scrill in riders of berk for multiple years under ice and then nearly did so again after it escaped in race to the edge, but he didn’t do it again and learnt his lesson so this episode discredits a character ark that transcended two shows
I don't care how dangerous Jourmangander is, Hiccup would've never locked it up without any form to get an endless supply of food and water just so it can SLOWLY STARVE TO DEATH!!! No seriously Hiccup killing it in self defense because it most likely it will be a threat will be more in character ito Hiccup. He could've just sealed it in Hellheim or certain sector of the biome so it would still be free to do what it want and not just hurt other dragons. You know what this wasn't Hiccup I actually think this was either an imposter who wanted to smear Hiccup's name either that or one of Hiccup's dumbass kids or descendants. Because this isn't Hiccup I won't believe it.
I would like to say, if this show had designed dragons based on beasts and creatures from Norse mythology,or just mythology in general. Then I could ignore how bad the show has been. Just another cool observation we will never see
A way they could've fixed the Jormungandr/Hiccup situation could be if Hiccup discovered that Jormungander, WS for World Serpent, was causing chaos for Toothless in the Hidden World so he and the Riders created the cage as a way to contain it until they could domesticate the WS. But during the caging either Hiccup and or Toothless gets killed, as a result the others leave the WS to rot as payback fo the loss of their friend(s).
That “flashback” scene was hilarious, but you forgot to include one extra bit: Hiccup jolting awake in bed and realizing the whole show was just a dream.
What if the writers make Jörmungandr grow bigger the more it consumes, threatening other dragons that are bigger than itself? It would be a knock off of the Great Devourer from Ninjago.
I have an idea for how to possibly fix Jormundandr, but its kind of a weird one. I honestly think that Jormungandr would’ve been more interesting/intimidating if, not only was it as big as the bewilderbeast if not bigger, but it wasn’t actually a dragon at all. It could be a completely different type of reptile from the deepest reaches of the hidden world, deeper than any dragon has been known to live that escaped due to seismic activity. Hiccup could’ve tried to train it, but because it isn’t a dragon, it doesn’t respond to any of the tricks he uses to train them, so he has to lure it back to its original habitat and seal it off so that the species wouldn’t breach into the dragon’s habitat. Perhaps it’s so massive because it preys on creatures even larger and more intimidating than most dragons, so if it were to surface to higher levels of the hidden world outside of its natural ecosystem, it would essentially become the world’s most destructive invasive species.
No. It doesn't ruin Hiccup. Because nothing this goddamn DISASTER of a show or anyone working on it says or does will ever, EVER tarnish him, because him, Toothless, Astrid, and everything else from the original series are far beyond what the hell this was. You could believe in the previous shows or the movies, even if it was flimsy at best, that Huccup would have a good reason to lock up The Yormungunder wannabe. I don't expect the Nine Realms to even get half way. So no, it doesn't ruin Hiccup, because this show never, and I mean NEVER ONCE, gave half a rats ass about him, his dragon, his friends, or his legacy beyond nostalgia points they've burnt up ages ago. They made this the fuck up, probably knowing it's out of character for him, but did it anyway for THEIR narrative. We all know Hiccup would never do this, to a dragon or person, no matter how dangerous, no matter how harmful, not without a damn. Good. Reason. And we know the nine realm won't even be bothered
So, as pitiful as this show is, I found myself unironically invested during the fallout arc. I loved the idea of eugene finally acting in the hot air he's been spewing the whole time and trying to form his own team if dragon riders. I loved the betrayal arc and they somehow convinced me that Alex really would become Buzzsaw's friend. Finally, the descent into helhiem and D'Angelo's outburst was insanely satisfying and finally setting the plot into the end game. I loved them being separated because it meant less tom and jun screentime and finally a chance to shake up the dynamics. I may have been more in love with the idea of the fallout arc than the actual execution, but I will not lie my friend and I sat on the edge of our seats in the final episode.
That what I thought because it just sense if it was zephyr that trapped the dragon, since she was good at making traps but this show would make that even worse then hiccup trapping the dragon for some stupid reason
@@leothorson4654 I think it be cool if the story went that hiccups dieing request was for his kid to reunite mankind with dragons but after finding that dragon they just couldn't find any good in it so they locked it away, hiding the clues hiccups left behind but destiny or something like that lead to them still being found. They won't do that but if they were smart they would, maybe if this series ends vague enough someone else can bend this story into something more appealing something more sound.
The thing I hated the most about this season this season is that the kids were trying to track down Buzzsaw to get the Book of Dragons back. They knew exactly where he lived. The kids had more dragons that were better trained, what was stopping them from storming in, incapacitating the two henchmen, and stealing the book back?
Honestly, you are making that whole plot with Alex actually secretly liking Tom, and that's the reason why she went evil is because now everyone forgets about her and only comes to her if they need something. Honestly, that'd be amazing. But of course they don't do that.
33:53 AYOOOO!?!?! Long story short, one of my buddies on Reddit did a rewrite of this series and made feathers(who they renamed Earring) have this exact ability. I pray that this is just a coincidence because if it isn't. I am scared. I am VERY scared😱
Exactly! As a fan of both Harry Potter and How to Train Your Dragon, I have been insulted by both of these spin-offs and they give off identical energy to me.
It sucks having two of some of my favorite products in the world of animation getting treated like bs right now. My favorite show, (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) being ruined by the new generation of the franchise, and one of my favorite movies ever (HTTYD) being ruined by The Nine Realms the same way. In terms of marketing and financial success, I get it. But is that all gonna matter ten years from now?
For reaaaalll! The new generation for MLP is so bad. Good thing there's 9 seasons of old MLP to rewatch as a palate cleanser and forget about that disaster.
I think Buzzsaw wants to capture dragons so he might be using crossbows to make sure that he doesn't kill them or damage them too much so that he can sell his hunt. Though he could get tranquilizer guns. Another thought is how Buzzsaw might be stripped for cash, too.
55:10 That wouldv’e been a great way to write Alex and we would all love to see the queen leave the idiots/“dragon riders”. But the screenwriters may use her character less than more.
How interesting it would be that Alex would be related to the bad guy from the third movie. That wouldv’e gave her an interesting reason to become a villain.
In my head-canon The Nine Realms NEVER HAPPENED! It's a disgrace to the franchise we all love and this damn series should never have been made in the first place.
My coping mechanism is insisting this season is only 4 episodes long, consisting entirely of the fallout arc. Even then, I am disappointed the first episode didnt have Jun's public execution.
16:39 Not ironically, I felt disappointment deep in my heart. I sat back in my chair and almost screamed in disbelief. A day in history will be remembered as unjust. Jun won, we lost. [*] for us.
We are fully convinced that this season is made out of spite and so much hate needless and vicious hate for people who loved httyd franchise this season is just plain pure evil though and though what this season does has no excuse at all 1:13:43 1:14:37 1:16:23 1:17:21 1:17:25 1:17:26 1:17:27
The fact that all the realms are like all connected within ten miles in a random place in Scandinavia is so stupid. It’s so easily fixable, JUST USE THE WORLD TREE, I MEAN IT WOULD MAKE PERFECT SENSE!
Your right on the June part. She is pretty toxic and she really got mad at her friends of trying to prove Slendkin was evil because she acted like she understanded her. I mean dude, your family is the one you could trust. Not only that but Tom defended Alex form June because all June did was made her feel worse at the dragon zombie episode.
The Nine Realms in Norse mythology aren't actually nine tho. It's completely inconsistent, and there's probably like 20 or a hundred depending on who you ask. "Nine" is just a cool religious number for Norse people, like Three for Christians, Seven for Westerosi, etc
21:45 I'm starting to think the more desperately a writer wants to ship 2 characters, the worse it gets for all characters in that story. Miraculous and how Thomas Astruc screams "MARINETTE AND ADRIEN ARE ENDGAME!" at you for every episode. Star Vs falling apart because of Starco nonsense.
I love how they bring up the actual 9 realms and then only (incorrectly) name ONE of them. Have the group all be talking about this stuff, each figuring out connections between them and doing research on them together! Jun with a mythology book, Alex on the computer, Tom translating the book of dragons and looking for information in there, D’Angelo on his phone googling or asking the adults if they know about it etc And have them ascribe names to the realms for kids who don’t know the mythology so they can use and understand it in fandom spaces if they want to! Because having them all interact and learn together with the audience is the SANE thing to do!
Also About Jormungandr, it's also called the "world serpent" . This is because it's body is literally the circumference of the earth itself. When you play a game like brawhalla, the legend "Loki" uses jormungandr in some of his signature attacks. And whenever he does jormungandr cant fully show it's body, which is a cool detail because it's literally the length of the earth itself. It's just too long. In the future, I hope I can make videos talking about pieces of media that I've watched and give my feeling's on them just like you Raisorblade. Yeesh, this show. If I'll waste internet on garbage, I'll waste it on GOOD garbage.
Can someone please explain why most Dreamworks TV shows especially the ones based on their film franchises look very bad? Meanwhile Trollhunters looked almost like something out of a Hollywood movie. I guess it's the budget because it's not made by the same studio that works on their Hollywood films? But yikes the animation on here is bad.
Trollhunters originally had the budget of a movie as it was originally going to be a film and that's why it looks miles better than the other dreamworks tv shows :)
Imagine they just reveal that Jormungändr got smaller because its body has been slowly eating itself to the point where it's the size of the Sky torture
This cannot be cannon. I understand it’s not everyone’s fault but I can’t deal with them disrespecting Hiccup. He has a beautiful character and incredible writing, most of the time he feels like a person. But then they had to ruin it. There was no reason it couldn’t be trapped some other way, a NATURAL way. Make is stuck in a cave because the entrance is too small, then “Buzzsaw” blows up the entrance using the crazy gals dynamite. Done, easy, so much better!
my guess about why it`s 7 instead of 9 is that they might not have counted the human world and thunder`s home as a realm. maybe, not sure about this myself but just a guess on why they say it`s 7 and not 9.
As much as i adore this review, funny and indeed summons up my every feeling for this show, THE ANIMATIC WAS MUUUUAH! Perfecto! And props to whomever voice Hiccup IT WAS SO ON POINT WOOOOOH
Can't wait for Season 8 to come around and Episode 1 to go: "Good job, team! Couple weeks later, we defeated Jormangandr and saved the world! Let's get up to some new whacky adventures!"
istg i want june (haidhioa, sorry, i gagged a little) and tom to be a thing just so tom can realize how much of a selfish person june is through a (hopefully) short relationship and realize the obviously better pick is alex and that he had always liked her more than june. Like, it can be that Tom has had a crush on June bc they were childhood friends (right? idfk & dgaf) but then he met alex and at first it started out as a really close and good friendship with a little crush for alex starting to bloom, but was overshadowed by his old crush on june which starts to die off a little when he starts to see how selfish june can be through their adventures together. And then since they're (june and tom) most likely going to get together in the show, through this relationship tom will realize that he deserves better (yes, i said that) than a selfish, self-absorbed girl like june. and so hence he really starts to have a crush on alex (which he starts to realize that he liked alex). mb before this he and june breakup, which will make the group dynamic awkward but whatever. anyway, and so then blah blah blah happens and more journeys leads to tom and alex getting together. and even though i dont really want tom, im on the side of aurbrey in that alex and tom need to procreate just so alex's lovely genes will add to hiccup and astrid's family tree (and mb, hopefully over take tom's tbh). hi, edit here; or, or, listen. writers, john tellegen, what if-- now, hear me out- what if, instead of tom and june getting together in the show, tom realizes how crappy and shitty june is (meaning he sees the self-absorbed, selfish ass that she is) and realizes that he likes alex instead and when june confesses to tom, he says "oh.. sorry, june, but i dont feel that way for you anymore-- i like alex now.." and hopefully june doesnt become a bitch and start to bully alex because her feelings were rejected because her crush finally opened his fucking eyes. anyway, happy ending- aka tom and alex *is* that happy ending!
I've never watched this show, but after hearing all the insane routes they went with it, I'm keeping it that way. The fact that they made Hiccup imprison a dragon like that is just terrible. Although, that animatic made by Alldatfanart was pretty amusing, along with the voice acting from you and your friends. Also, any sequel/spinoff/reboot that trashes fans of the source material and/or justified criticisms deserves all the thrashing it gets.
The Legend of Korra is an example of a show which had a high bar with its predecessor and actually trying. It gets a lot of things wrong, but they actually tried and did some great stuff with the show. The line realms is like “The Last Airbender” of the avatar universez
The Nine Realms is an abomination that can only be described as milking a dead cow. It’s milking the cow of the HTTYD franchise, while beating a dead horse in being terrible and not knowing when to stop.
Wow, this is the most educational and the most entertaining RUclips video I have ever seen! As an aspiring writer myself, I can't express my appreciation enough!
I never understood the couples that consistently argue and fight are always the ones that get together. It really makes you wonder what the writers own opinions on romance is because often writing can be a small reflection of a person’s own interests.
From past experience i can tell their toxic relationship wont hold longer than a month.

@@veronica3662 yeah, why can’t we just have more of that. Romance is romance and fighting is fighting, how is that hard to understand for writers.

I agree with that.
So that's why we should renamed that fxxking, bootleg bitchass "Jormungrandr" to "Anacondrake".
Certainly more believable than a bunch of teenagers making their own saddles.
That would be super sick. We could get actual descendants of the riders, and some cool interactions between them and the other kids.
Yeah honestly I'd like to see that.
fact that is a good idea is probally why it isn't in this serie to be honest

HICCUP REALIZES IT WAS WRONG AND REFUSED TO FREEZE THE SKRILL IN THE ICE FOR THE SECOND TIME
PLUS HE KNEW THE SKRILL WOULDN'T DIE
"If we do this, we are no better than the dragon hunters... We're just using a different cage" and he lets the Skrill go
It's honestly EVEN MORE insulting to me that the Nine Realms would do this given that fact too imo smh
Speaking of the skrill where exactly are they?! The last time we saw one was back in season 2 finale and they haven't shown up since then, heck in the 50$ game they established that there's a bunch of skrills and are mortal enemies with the night lights yet they the show doesn't bother to bring them up
@@noctisastrum7495 well, it's a species, so they are probably hanging out somewhere
Also I hate the fact they made them enemies... Like, the Skrill in the series only wanted to go after toothless and hiccup out of honestly understandable revenge for freezing it in the ice. That and the rivalry ended after that, you can see in Triple Cross Toothless and the Skrill getting along just fine HHH
But hey, maybe I'm just salty because I actually love the fact Skills are probably the only dragon in the original series that didn't make Toothless look overpowered as hell 😔
@@clobertina8176yeah i feel you. The only reason why i brought it up cause the show tried to make it seem like the skrill will reappear and have some climatic fight with thunders family yet they decided to use the snow dragons for whatever reason.

Honestly, if it does happen I wouldn’t mind it being Eugene. Eugene is the only character I unironically like and tolerate, aside from Alex.

I really really 𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙔 Agree to this.
Additionally, why not make the big bad Niddhöggr? Yknow, the literal giant death dragon living underground? But no, of course not.
@jankeek8218
Not really the screaming death can grow quite big yes, but not enough to dwarf the Purple or red death and certainly not the Bewilderbeast.
He said it himself in the episode
That and when he imprisoned the Skrill he knew it wouldn't die
Tbf. The skrull survived frozen for that long. It's only logical that hiccup would think it will work again
- Shirtless Hiccup gets hyped due to the Fire Tides.
- Show now has multiple instance of shirtless male characters, probably not a coincidence.
During that animation, for a genuine moment I thought those were the actual voice actors for hiccup and Astrid until Fishlegs started talking lol... but even then, I wouldn't be opposed to all of you guys voicing a Httyd fan project because even through the jokes you all did a great job Voicing the characters.
Hiccup was very spot on
I think I almost pulled something on my face while watching that.
While not a full laugh, I couldn’t stop smiling like crazy.
fr, audrey's voice fits astrid so damn well
Its not only that Jun is a terribly written, selfish character.

Okay, let's take that skit with Hiccup, change it to only Fishlegs at the end, and turn Fishlegs to Tom, and Hiccup and Astrid to the viewers. Now, let's she what we have here.
Tom: There is a great possibility that one day she will eat me alive!

I hate that I made this up on my head on the fly and it's probably a dozen times better than anything we're gonna get
This is actually a lot better than what we got.
I think this was what each realm was to represent:
Crystal Realm (maybe surface world too)- Midgard
Fire Realm- Muspelheim
Ice Realm- Niflheim
King’s Realm- Asgard
Nature Realm- Alfheim
Giant Realm- Jotunheim
Desert Realm- Svartalfheim
Dark Realm- Helheim
I think the silver area is supposed to be part of the Crystal Realm, so that means Vanaheim is the last realm. This leads to the question of whether or not it’s just going to be a rehash of RTTE’s Vanaheim. Other than that, this was a fantastic review and sorry this season in particular was such a pain.
I always thought it was something like:
Crystal Realm- Asgard
Fire Realm- Muspelheim
Ice Realm- Niflheim
King Realm- Vanaheim
Nature Realm- Midgard
Giant Realm- Jotunheim
Desert Realm- Svartalfheim
Dark Realm- Helheim
So, I thought that the last realm would be something like Alfheim
Side note: The Nature Realm could very well be Vanaheim, but then I guess I would put Alfheim as the King Realm, leaving Midgard as the final realm. And if they're counting the surface, then that's Midgard, and all the realms have been discovered.
Alex could really be an interesting villain

If they wanted it to be akin to a dwarf, why not make it more small and bulky with thick armor? Dwarves were known to be all that because they were forge masters and could make tough as nails weapons and armor.
Alex is Best character in this Whole Show and that's saying a lot

Add that to the fact that all air nomads were air benders and the children were raised in groups by monks and expecting Aang to be a good father by other standards is a fool's errand add his trauma of being THE LAST AIRBENDER and he is going to be biased toward his airbender who was also the only company that would make him feel like he is "home."
Though that works only if you consider all the factors that are spread through the world building.
That dragon uses its glass pillars to see even though we can’t see
Maybe it sees the same way daredevil does sounds help highlight everything around
The problem is that the dragon see perfectly, so why using the crystals?
I really agree to that
I feel so bad that you have to keep watching this show, but I thank you for making the best of it. I've got ya.
That “flashback” scene was hilarious, but you forgot to include one extra bit:
Hiccup jolting awake in bed and realizing the whole show was just a dream.
What if the writers make Jörmungandr grow bigger the more it consumes, threatening other dragons that are bigger than itself? It would be a knock off of the Great Devourer from Ninjago.
Is that really a surprise?
They literally have Kai's voice actor voicing the most hated character in the show so its not a big deal from them
I have an idea for how to possibly fix Jormundandr, but its kind of a weird one.
That is actuly better then what the show did
👍
1:04:22 you know the writers really fucked up,you can hear the anger in his voice
I guess an easy fix could be to make it so that one of hiccups kids locked the dragon away?
@@TiredMoonRabbit yeah it does sound way better then what we got
The thing I hated the most about this season this season is that the kids were trying to track down Buzzsaw to get the Book of Dragons back. They knew exactly where he lived. The kids had more dragons that were better trained, what was stopping them from storming in, incapacitating the two henchmen, and stealing the book back?
We need *conflict* people!
“We all knew you should of married Heather” 🤣
Like how we all knew tom should've dated Alex.
@@zaidnail3544 Yep unlike his ancestor Hiccup, he’s a moron.
True
Wait who did he marry?
@@philipgood5041 Fishlegs married Ruffnut.😐
Honestly, you are making that whole plot with Alex actually secretly liking Tom, and that's the reason why she went evil is because now everyone forgets about her and only comes to her if they need something. Honestly, that'd be amazing. But of course they don't do that.
1:11:32 Wow good job Tom you got this innocent dragon killed
What if you guys rewrite this show.
It be WAY better than the actual show.
Agreed,a show made by the fans that respect the original franchise and it story will be 20 times better then this shit show
33:53 AYOOOO!?!?!
Long story short, one of my buddies on Reddit did a rewrite of this series and made feathers(who they renamed Earring) have this exact ability. I pray that this is just a coincidence because if it isn't. I am scared. I am VERY scared😱
Who's your friend?
I am very interested on how much of a better series they make than THIS.
This show has now just become 'the Cursed Child' for the How To Train Your Dragon franchise.
Exactly! As a fan of both Harry Potter and How to Train Your Dragon, I have been insulted by both of these spin-offs and they give off identical energy to me.
Fantastic video! That hiccup impression genuinely scared the shit outta me I thought you got the real VA. But wow amazing video
Always figured June would become the final boss after Tom got her the wrong soda or something.
I saw someone rate Alex’s episode 9/10 so I think you and Aundrie will like it
55:10 That wouldv’e been a great way to write Alex and we would all love to see the queen leave the idiots/“dragon riders”. But the screenwriters may use her character less than more.
How interesting it would be that Alex would be related to the bad guy from the third movie. That wouldv’e gave her an interesting reason to become a villain.
19:45 Markiplier contrasting scenes.
25:30 bad shows are mistakes, and we can learn from them.
In my head-canon The Nine Realms NEVER HAPPENED! It's a disgrace to the franchise we all love and this damn series should never have been made in the first place.
In the Jun episode, i just muted the tv whenever I feared i'd have to hear another word come out of her mouth.
They have to make nine seasons then they complete all the realms
I can't wait for this one. These videos are always so well made and funny. I thank you for watching this show, though I'm sorry you did
I bet they tried to turn Jun into Astrid personality but failed miserably
My coping mechanism is insisting this season is only 4 episodes long, consisting entirely of the fallout arc. Even then, I am disappointed the first episode didnt have Jun's public execution.
Here we go again. This might be a little worse than we though. Good luck, soldier.
Damn. A like already. I'm not even at school yet.
12:30 hell the static x show show a kid accidentally shooting another kid, not even with a censored gun it was a legitimate gun that they animated.
Tom x jun thanks we hate it 10:12 15:16 16:39 16:43 21:23 23:13 23:38 35:30 53:23 1:13:43 1:13:44 1:13:47 1:13:49 1:14:37
The fact that all the realms are like all connected within ten miles in a random place in Scandinavia is so stupid. It’s so easily fixable, JUST USE THE WORLD TREE, I MEAN IT WOULD MAKE PERFECT SENSE!
at least Fionna and Cake on MAX felt Great and a great continuation of Adventure Time one of my favorite Cartoon Network shows ever
Man, the fans who came after you in the comments are gonna be ticked XD
The Nine Realms in Norse mythology aren't actually nine tho. It's completely inconsistent, and there's probably like 20 or a hundred depending on who you ask. "Nine" is just a cool religious number for Norse people, like Three for Christians, Seven for Westerosi, etc
Happy Alex-ween!🐉🎃
21:45 I'm starting to think the more desperately a writer wants to ship 2 characters, the worse it gets for all characters in that story. Miraculous and how Thomas Astruc screams "MARINETTE AND ADRIEN ARE ENDGAME!" at you for every episode. Star Vs falling apart because of Starco nonsense.
I love how they bring up the actual 9 realms and then only (incorrectly) name ONE of them. Have the group all be talking about this stuff, each figuring out connections between them and doing research on them together! Jun with a mythology book, Alex on the computer, Tom translating the book of dragons and looking for information in there, D’Angelo on his phone googling or asking the adults if they know about it etc
And have them ascribe names to the realms for kids who don’t know the mythology so they can use and understand it in fandom spaces if they want to!
I always thought the screaming death would become Jörmingonder because it’s a giant serpent who devours the earth.
It's up to season 7 already? The show isn't even two years old yet. WTF?
Yeah, and season 8 is to come out on December 14.
That is not Jörmungandr that's a god damn war bat from godzilla vs kong like wtf, also amazing vid
You should do a rating of every single season and then giving the whole show a rank
57:05 ngl dark alec would just be cool in general, without that “I was faking it wow L” it would be cool to see more of her being the “villian”
The person who voiced hiccup in that fan animation sounds so much like him
I've never watched this show, but after hearing all the insane routes they went with it, I'm keeping it that way.
Jormungandr was just a warbat from Godzilla VS Kong
The Nine Realms is an abomination that can only be described as milking a dead cow. It’s milking the cow of the HTTYD franchise, while beating a dead horse in being terrible and not knowing when to stop.
Wow, this is the most educational and the most entertaining RUclips video I have ever seen! As an aspiring writer myself, I can't express my appreciation enough!
