Had to come back just to rewatch this video in disgust. Drugs is Travis' greatest song ever made without doubt.

bro.... i am just now finding this review... ever since this mixtape released, drugs you should try it has been one of my favorite songs ever created. it has been my go to song that makes me feel happy. it is perfect for any occasion and everyone i show this song to thinks it is incredible. just play this at a high volume on some high quality speakers and you will vibe like never before. same thing with Skyfall but not as much as DYSTI. i usually agree with this guy but what the hell is this review.

It might have been amazing if Travi$ hadn't been on the track with his really unoriginal lyrics/singing/raps.
Best song on the album in my opinion
The lyrics were lackluster, but the beat and (for some weird reason) his "singing" in the background made the song really epic. Like Feefo from DEHH, it bumps in the whip.

This review is 1000% wrong. Days Before Rodeo was a very good mixtape to me. I will tell you why.
1. The production was amazing
2.His flow was fitting to the beats.
3. Good features (Migos,Rich Homie,Young Thug,Big Sean)
4.(Biggest Reason) He has a VERY Original sound.
Travis Scott has created his own style of music. With the distorted synths and high hats, he makes his beats sound different. Then on top of that,he has a flow that I personally have never heard before. And I am 10000% certain Travis Scott has the best ad-libs in rap ( That's the "Straight Up!" And "La Flame!" In the background). Travis is underappreciated because he's different. He's an artist in every sense of the word. This is easily the best Mixtape of 2014.
Also he had T.I.
The biggest misconception about rap is that every artist has to spit like Kendrick Or Jay to be good. That's not true.

His problem is that he is involving his feelings towards travis too much and not really just taking the music for its sonic value, he feels like he need to set some ground rules to what makes good and bad music.
Which is dumb since music is art and art has no rules so he should just take it for its sonical value and base it on if he actually likes the music, and not just sit at talk about how many things he hates about travis.
Be more open minded...you have an older perspective and that is all. This is easily one of the best tapes from 2014. This is coming from a person that LOVES Kendrick and Joey but this album balances out the thought provoking hip hop in my library.
The lyrics alone arent supposed to be lyrical. But the whole project once it comes together kind of puts you in a trance. Great beats, good music.

Another disappointing review by theneedledick. I'm a fan bro but really? Travis had a lot of good songs that BUMP on this mixtape. A song doesnt need crazy detailed, over your head, lyrics for it to be a good. Deserved at least an 8.
If the album is all about the beats, then why didn't he just put out an album of just instrumentals? If your not going to put any effort into your bars, then why spit at all? I will admit, Anthony is a bit of a hypocrite at times. Liking Lib and Rocky saying that lyrics don't matter, and dissing guys like Travis Scott for not being lyrical. But let's face it. What does this guys bars bring to the table? If they are not supposed to be lyrical, then couldn't he have some bars that would make you hype? Or angry? Or sad? What's the point of rapping on a record if you know that your bars being nothing to the table?
Brandon Standifer Travis isnt a HORRIBLE rapper. he's got some sort of spit game, id say even lyrically he's at least about a 6.
No Future00 actually...he is pretty damn great with lyrics. Sometimes he doesnt have alot of effort but most of the time he uses his lyricism like its double sided with multiple meanings he's very smart with his lyrics, and he is one of the best fucking producers i've seen in the past 5 years.

You're only losing people with that the choice of words -- "more." Kanye influences EVERYONE in rap more than Travis Scott, because Kanye is a transcendent pop culture figure. And Travis Scott is...well, he's just a guy, as far as most people are concerned (aside from his many production credits, his career as a rapper is not very much on the mainstream radar). However, as a person who's been a fan of rap music across the board for years now, I can tell you that Kanye was not nearly as obsessed with the "trap sound" as he has been in the 2-3 years since working with Travis, so there's definitely a point to be made there. Correlational maybe, but real nonetheless

You underappreciated this album. He is nothing like mainstream, barely gets radio play. His songs are good and you aren't listening deep enough into the lyrics. He actually reminisces on backyard. Coming from someone who is ab soul, joey Badass, and Kendrick fan Travis Scott is slept on and has talent. Nobody says shit about Kendrick recent verses which has nothing special..some people target different audiences, maybe he is not going for the lyrical audience because we are not Majority. Widen your music choices and don't just listen for lyrical showcases. Adapt to different styles of music. Travis has so much talent kanye bit off his flow on Yeezus...nobody can deny that

Omgonthe123 not really. it's still just bland trendiness. the beats are better, but travis is still an incredibly average rapper, and his hooks have somehow gotten more obnoxious.
I agree for the most part, the album definitely isn't great, it just felt like a step up from OP, probably something like a 5/10 for me.

when an album is so ahead of its time like this, but he gives it a bad review, it's because he and the general public aren't on the wave yet. look where he is now, he and the general public caught up with the wave of dark atmospheric trap that's more about emotions and feelings than complicated, badass lyrics, which is the only thing traditional hip hop is about. and that's why this new wave is so much better, it's an evolution for rap music and music as a whole because of how influential it's been. and when you think about it, it's objectively better because it's actually deep and everyone can connect to it.

The production alone deserves at least a 8.0! I don't like Rich Homie Quan, and im not a Migos fan. I don't listen to T.I either, but the production is so Dope "I" looked past all that and enjoyed songs like "SLOPPY TOPPY".

I thought this album was out of this world, at least sonically. This kind of music is not supposed to be lyrically impressive but it is fun as shit and serves for an entertaining purpose which will hit you hard if you are in the right mood. Its all a matter of perspective, even when it comes to music.
Wow you had nothing much to say about Backyard. Lyrically that song was on point. He knows how to arrange music and vocal placement is on point. Sonically pleasing to my ears.
