Awesome video I'm glad I ran across this cuz I was actually ready to order some jaw jackers? Now I can save a buttload of money and make a bunch of these thank you thank you thank you greatly appreciated
@@mathewwalworth5236 it goes through the eyelet in the PVC cap, the less than 90 degree end just holds the rod tip, the other end cradles your line and line goes down into the hole. The slightest tug on the line releases the less than 90 degree end from the rod tip and sets the rod into hookset mode.
Same here I’m in SW Michigan about 8 miles from Lake Michigan. I’m thankful for everyone on RUclips in the colder regions sharing their ice fishing videos right now
I am going to do this... I have 1 automatic fisherman already.. heading to Mikwaukee to fish brown trout this winter... this will make a 2nd unit at a great price! Thx
Awesome rig man!!!! I see the sign on your wall and it is a very small world!!!!! I was born and raised in Lansing!!! moved west about10 years ago after spending about 7 years in Da UP :) I love ice fishing, and i think I will be making a few of these rigs!!
There has been a couple people who had a hard time getting it just right. I’m glad you figured it out and I hope it works well for you! Thanks for the feedback Jeff.

I'm probably not the first to muse about this you could make that center member adjustable to accommodate different length rods.
Great project. New supporter
NathanLikesDrums thanks Nathan!

You should do a video just on the trigger .... I had a hell of a time figuring that out
There has been a couple people who had a hard time getting it just right. I’m glad you figured it out and I hope it works well for you! Thanks for the feedback Jeff.
How long is the rod you used?
Hi new supporter . checking out your videos
thank you
I haven’t bought a fishing rod yet so how long is yours and I will just buy the same length Rod?
cool stuff will be back
Not to be a huge pain in the ass but could you make a short video of how to make that triggering device I'm going to use coat hangers
I second this! Would be good to know how well it works, what tweaks are needed in real usage, etc. I've been looking all over for this, so thanks!
I'm slow getting to this vid since it's been up a bit now. Have you had any luck on the ice with it yet?
Casting Costas well Bill, I had good intentions of using it but this winter I haven’t got out much. So maybe next winter I’ll get to use it.
How long it the trigger mechanism
Jamie Sobotta about 3” on the one I made.
How oz of force will trigger rod?
I don't have a answer for that as I don't have a way to measure it. I can say, it doesn't take much to trigger it.
How do I bend the wire?
I used a pair of pliers to hold the wire with one hand and another set of pliers to bend with the other hand.
America fuck yeah
You forgot to put the cross on the list in the description. Just got back from the store and realized something was missing 😂
Jarod Tonneson dang, sorry about that. Thanks
Whammo i was thinkin that rod was gonna slap you in the face
might have woke me up! LOL Thanks for watching Devan
