Bushmen to the bone, Mr. Bat and Farmer Harry are extremely precise in their descriptions of the dangers of venomous snakes. Mr. Harry has also shown and shared his Antidote with visitors.
It should be noted that Mr. Bat and Farmer Harry display Respect, but NOT FEAR for snakes. In one of Mr. Baptiste's videos, Mr. Bat shared that he was never bitten by a snake.
Safety in the Bush is based on Experience and Awareness of one's surroundings. Wise explorers always seek the help of Local Guides when charting new territory as the Local Bushmen always know better than "Bookmen"!
Keen eyesight (observe no glasses), keen hearing, keen smell, and heightened senses are all qualities that Bushmen like Mr. Bat and Farmer Harry possess. They can scan their environment and detect danger in a millisecond!!!
As to the snake mentioned by Farmer Harry - FER-DE-LANCE, this snake injects 105mg of venom in one bite!!! It's name comes from THREE FRENCH WORDS: FER which means IRON; DE which means OF; and LANCE which means SPEAR. Put them altogether we get the literal Translation - SPEAR OF IRON, or more simply SPEARHEAD.
Much respect to men like Me. Bat and Farmer Harry!👏. I'd trust either of them anytime with my life in the Bush "Inside Caura".✨👏👍

Straight from the horses' mouths. Knowledge shared that can only come from experience. It is a blessing that both Mr. Bat and Mr. Harry were always excited and willing to share. If memory serves me right, I remember another bushman telling me to always protect my ankles because that's where the snake strikes. Mr. Harry to confirm. Lol. Thanks again Lyndon for sharing The "bushmen" with us and keeping the story of Mr. Bat alive.

Dear Lyndon, I came accross this video and will show it to my students in Sam Sharpe Teachers' College, Jamaica as they always ask me about Trini snakes...We need to raise discourse about the demonisation of snakes versus man's need for slef-preservation....But I love the way you project aspects of local culture..god bless you and your family,...

Fer de Lance fangs are some of the longest in the world. It's even longer than a bushmaster fang which grows a lot bigger. Thanks Lyndon. Good to see another vid of Mr Bat. 🙏

The bushmaster has longer fangs than the fer de lance.
It is probably second only to the gaboon viper
