- I was so happy to know that the Culex battle theme from the original Super Mario RPG came back in the Mario RPG remake. This is actually a track from Final Fantasy 4 that has seen many different iterations over the years, but this version might be my favorite and it's certainly one of the best tracks in the Mario RPG OST.

Have you seen my first time reaction to the new Mario RPG Remake arrangements? Man, that felt kinda emotional, not gonna lie -> ruclips.net/video/FR457DC2vls/видео.html
its battle 2 from (final fantasy 4) if you fight a boss.
the composer of this game and the mario and luigi games? is yoko shimomura also kingdom hearts.
the first 6 final fantasy games have that intro,
for final fantasy vii (switch)? that beginning base is used during the final boss for 1. its named the birth of a god.
in final fantasy viii? its used during the final boss ultimecia her final form. that name is extreme.
in final fantasy ix, its back to the normal battle theme.
dave, you can switch in the remake to the super nintendo soundtrack super mario rpg.
Have you listened to FF14's version of this song? its just great
Also if i could make a suggestion. There's a series of songs called " the justice ray" that has 5 parts, all in different games, with all being final bosses but part 4.. which is the first boss. Its a fun set of songs and all by the same writer. I think you would like them.
Can I make a request? Mind checking out the music from the ending E from the game Lunacid? I would love to know what you think.
Two versions actually. They included the original version against a 2D Culex and then after fufilling criteria you fight the 3D version with the new arrangement.
Oh I didn't know
What’s interesting to me is that… my first reaction, before you even said “that’s huge”, was that it actually sounds surprisingly small. Like, it IS a huge orchestra, but something about the arrangement, or maybe it’s the mixing, makes it feel to me like this huge orchestra is scoring a small-scale theater production. There’s something a little more jaunty and light-hearted about the way it’s played her that makes it more suitable for the game without losing the epic sound of the game it’s based on.
You can hear it in the chiptune version, too. Those are not the same instruments used in FF4, they sound a little bit sillier.
Yoko Shimomura gave Nobuo Uematsu a beautiful homenage
When you give a master a full orchestra to play with and tell her to arrange a piece by another master you get...
The truest Cool-X piece ever.
And please, please, please do the comparison between the original and the new version of "Beware the Forest Mushrooms". It's like one of the most iconic pieces of SMRPG.
Beware the Forest Mushrooms is easily my favorite OST of all times!
I didnt know about any secret bosses in SMRPG so colour me shocked when an FFIV track started playing! 😮 What a beautiful reimagining of this track.
My favorite version so far!
There is a big white door in a certain city that leads to him
I just fought 2D Culex last night. I started playing your video and shouted out loud "What the hell? Where do I find this awesome version of the fight!?!"
When they said that there are now post-game boss rematches, it includes *him* too
post-game boss rematches, as Nintendo talked about in the Nintendo Direct.
This song was originally from Final Fantasy 4, and Square (Square Enix) and Nintendo collaborated so they could use it for Mario RPG. If you like this song, I would like you to listen to this song from Final Fantasy 14. Also, it's an orchestral arrangement in Mario RPG, but it's a rock arrangement in Final Fantasy 14.
Good video as always! I don't know why but the first half of the track reminds me of something, maybe a series when a was a kid, but I haven't play any Final Fantasy game or Super Mario RPG, so that cannot be the reason.
Also, I just want to recommend other Blasphemous tracks: because you have mention the arpeggios, from Blasphemous 1 there is "Arpegios en Ocre", and we have as well one of my favorite, "Cinco Miradas tiene la Aurora", beautiful. And for the sequel, mention to "Padre de los Penitentes" and "Ecos de los Pecados"(💀); this one is great and I like to listen to it paying attention to all the instruments, like a make with "Lamentos de Arena".
Well, nothing else. ¡Adiós!
I keep forgetting that Davi isn't a grandpa and is aware of the current internet meta (it does go hard)
Also, please do Coalescence from Risk of Rain!
Omg my childhood is being touched here, this is definitely a masterpiece, thank you !
The music evokes a sense of tension, intensity, and strong emotions. It has a full and layered quality and is aesthetically pleasing. I'm really impressed.
Yes tension and urgency
That bass line is sick, indeed!
I remember the first time i played super mario rpg and found culex was an intense fight. It was already my favorite battle for this game and i played before final fantasy 4 and recognized this music from the get go. Listening to this remastered version put me back
thanks to your Super Mario RPG videos I am now listening the entire OST and am hyped 😄
The game is worth giving a shot too!
The original ff4 version was also remade a lot in future remakes and stuff
Can't wait till I can play this myself! Final Fantasy 4 was also a big part of my childhood, and the original version of this track is engraved upon my soul
FF4's music is a part of me, my whole psychology and my physical body. There's nothing deeper than that, artistically, in my psyche.
This is a song originally from Final Fantasy IV ❤
It kinda sounds like a mix of kingdom hearts and final fantasy for me ,
Am I the only one concerned about the fact that nobody in the comments seem to know this is FFIV boss battle theme and it's been going hard for a while, in FFXIV as well
Not sure what you mean, plenty of comments before yours have mentioned this track being from FFIV...
I think that theme played at 4:56 also sounds similar to FF9 battle theme. This one just has some added notes.
You were supposed to wait until we got to that fight!!!
I play so slow that by then the Mario RPG hype would be gone lol
@@DaviVasc I guess that's probably a better way to look at it. I don't have that youtube content creator mind to make good decisions for the platform.
Hm, how very interesting, nice upgrade.
Hm, have you done Kingdom Hearts Music yet?
The song is the boss battle from ff4
Yo can you do paper mario origami king music? especially battle themes, they are bangin' please
That's it? Just do the first 10 songs, the culex battle music, and nothing else?
Hey bro, i think you should listen Sea of stars soundtrack, it's beautifull, themes like Coral Cascades and more, what a masterpiece
I really tought that was the four lords of elements from FFIV
Edit: Nevermind xD just needed a few more seconds on the video to hear the coment about it
Shoulda listened further, it’s more than one loop repeated. There’s a drop.
the timecode💀
Trying to decide which I like better of this remaster. This theme or FFXIV one.
The correct answer is all of the above
Can you please review OMORI music? I think you would like tracks like World's end valentine and You were wrong. Go back
hi, i'm new of the channel and i love your videos! i want to ask you if you could listen and react to the final boss music from FF XVI it's called "all as one" and it's the second part of "ultimalius" but it's the only part i really would love to see you react to!
Hope you'll see my comment (sorry for my english, i'm from italy, and it's not mother language)
Can you do midir eater from dark souls 3
u should try legends arceus the music is amazing
Yo dude maybe take the spoiler out of the thumbnail?
Not story relevant.
@@KGhaleon It is still a secret boss though. It has only been 3 days and many new people are experiencing SMRPG for the first time. :(
@@KGhaleon its mario rpg, no one is playing for thr story.
It’s an RPG, almost *everyone* is playing it for the story
@@diccchocolate416 The fact culex becomes 3d in his rematch IS a spoiler though, exclusive to this remake
I still want to see Culex's native world.. Also... CULEX IN FF14 WHEN???
I'm imagining Nintendo talking about a small orchestra for this track, to which Square would laugh and say "No. This isn't yours. Its ours, and we're making it big!"
Nintendo actually loves going all out on music, base Mario Kart 8, Xenoblade 1, 2 and 3, recent Kirby games, recent Mario games, they all have incredible music... Specially Xenoblade.
if you think Nintendo doesn't care about the music as much as square does, you haven't heard the OSTs for the Mario & Luigi RPGs
Great video as always! Love this track. Such a gorgeous arrangement. When Yoko Shimomura was asked to arrange FF music for the SMRPG, she chose this Battle 2 theme from FF4, which has a cool and memorable melody that impressed her. It was also arranged in FF14,I like that, but Shimomura-san's arrangement is really wonderful. Thanks for the video, Davi!
Next you should do Xenoblade... 1, 2 and 3, their music goes HARD and is MINDBLOWING.
The song is essentially the Final Fantasy IV boss theme but orchestrated!
lol I’ve been playing final fantasy 4 and I was confused when I recognised the theme😂
WAIT! You listened to the GBA version of FF4? ALWAYS the SNES version. It will never be beaten. I hate that the game boy version even exists.
Did you hear the 5-chain/extra percussive version of this? It is even more P E A K
Bro can you do a video on "Apostle of Myrkul" ost from Bg3? That final part always gives me goosebumps.
Love this!!!! I haven’t played FF4 but you straight away you could hear that it was Final Fantasy. Looking forward to see you play this part in the game. This theme reminds me a bit of the final boss from FF9. So cool! Thanks Davi!
Just imagine if the game-play clip showed Mario start his super jump, and that's all that happened for the entire clip.
Thanks for the music review, Davi! I was excited to hear this track ever since the remake was announced.
Hey davi i was wondering if you can dive into some kingdom hearts music reactions it would be cool if you did
this song is such a banger. this is my fav take on it also.
No I am staying with the original!!
Huh
You mean the ff4 version?
Please do not spoil things like this in video titles.
