Never really read Thor before but the hype around this was undeniable, and mighty Thor seems awesome and after that Thor trailer, I figured I had to get my preorder in

I really hate that they still haven't gotten a clue from higher end art books on how to bind these collections so that there is zero loss of the art to the gutter. It can be done quite effectively, it just costs money to do it properly, and since these are aimed at fans who are willing to shell out more money it seems like a no brainer.

This is a book that deserves to be on every collector’s shelf, and all three covers are beautiful. I’ll be interested to check out the build of my copy when it arrives to check any major gutter loss. Was hoping this would be a Donnelly print job but Imak seem to be doing more and more Marvel omnis. Thanks Omar!
Thanks for showing all the spines. For me its arguably even more important than the cover art when choosing which version to buy because lets be honest the majority of the time you have the book its going to be on the shelf and the spine is the thing that people are gonna see displayed.

Can't wait to get it. Got it pre-ordered thru CNG. Standard cover for sure. The God Of Thunder run is my favorite part of Aaron's run. I'm happy about everything collected here but I am very disappointed they left out that Original Sins mini-series. That was Thor's first interaction with Loki in Aaron's run. It was pretty good too. Al Ewing co-writing it. And it does set up things for down the road. Have at thee!!! Take care and peace everyone.
This is awesome! I already have the original hardcovers and the minis in trade so I don't think I will be buying this but it's great for everyone who couldn't read this.

Pre-ordered the Ribic cover, God Killer reads like Stephen King! I picked up the DE from the library and was blown away, made myself wait for the Omni. Malekith, Hells Yes!
I’m looking forward to this one and the eventual Volume 2. I wish they had included the Original Sin Thor & Loki: The Tenth Realm, but maybe they could release an Angela Omnibus with those 5 issues, Angela: Asgard’s Assassin 1-6 and Angela: Queen of Hel 1-7.

I can’t wait to read this. I ordered one for myself. I was gonna try to get the individual complete collection volumes but Volume 2 is sold out online everywhere.
It’s why I have a love/hate relationship with comics. I enjoy coming across other fans who enjoy this sort of thing but then I hate when new movies come out and certain books related to that movie get sold out everywhere and it’s hard to try and get them.

So hyped! Pre-ordered back in December from Walt's Comic Shop. I haven't watched the Love and Thunder trailer, and I am planing to read this in the wait time of the movie and not watching none of the promotional material
Holy crap I think this is the longest overview yet (for book at least). Rightfully so for Thor! Waiting for my Dauterman cover too, but the Mjolnir spine looks cool. And of course when id Vol. 2? 😉

I'm not a massive Thor fan, but the trailer for the new film looked 👌. Then I watched this, the artwork reminded me of Kurt Busiek on his Conan omnibus. So I've decided to buy this and atleast give it a go, from the comments a lot of people are excited for this !
Looking forward to getting a copy. I have the issues of the Gor storyline, haven't read the rest.
That’s a really great looking collection. I remember reading Joe Casey & Steve Rude’s Children of the Atom mini and being crazy disappointed that Rude had to be replaced - the work he was doing was magical… I thought that had the makings of a definitive X-men Origin. Now, seeing Ribic’s work here, “magical” is a truly worthy word for it too. What an evolutionary improvement from his work on Children of the Atom issue 6!

Great review Omar! I guess Marvel wanted to ensure they timed this release with the movies. I will be picking this up day 1 - looking forward to the volume 2 & King in Black omnibus. I'd like to see Immortal Hulk omnibus release, Uncanny X-Men vol 5, along with a Punisher War Journal Omnibus! Drop that into the suggestion box if you can Omar...Keep up the great work!
I read the Gorr issues online, but don’t really enjoy reading comics on a computer. Hoping Monday/Tuesday this will be available at CGN as I missed the preorder. Female Thor cover for sure ( I know who it is, but no spoiling!)

Yep, very excited for this one. I think The Tenth Realm *is* collected in oversized format, in the Original Sin Companion. I could be wrong, though.

i have all the OHC and Original sin, Jason Aaron even signed my #1 which was really cool...I want that Dauterman variant so bad >< please help me. This is just one of the better put together Omnis imho. Great overview Omar (oh your mic sounds better/diff in this vid versus the last week or so)
Getting this and war of the realms. What would u recommend getting to fill in any part of the story ? And these 2 books will be my first thor books
I have this run in mostly complete collections and tpbs… I think the omnibus is worth it because of the quality but I don’t know what to do with my other stuff

Omar, looking at the issues collected, do you think the next volume 2 will probably include the 5-part mini series "The Unworthy Thor"? That was also written by Jason Aaron so I hope that also gets included..but overall great overview video once again! :D
Unworthy Thor is included in the paperback complete collections of Aaron’s Thor, so I’d assume it’ll be in the second Omni as well
Love that they put in an excerpt from Original Sin, not in the Thor OHCs but I have the Original Sin OHC.
Tenth Realm is the only missing thing in a Thor or Loki OHC. Only available in the Original Sin companion in oversized format iirc.
_The Tenth Realm_ isn't relevant though. It fits much better with Ewing's _Loki: Agent of Asgard_ and is correctly included in the complete collection of that run.
That said, if they were going to excerpt that bit of _Original Sin,_ I wish they'd at least included the 8 or so Odin and Cul pages from _The Tenth Realm_ too. I honestly think _Thor_ #1 does a perfectly decent job of explaining how Thor became unworthy without feeling like you need to read _Original Sin,_ but Odin just shows up without really acknowledging that he'd been missing.

haven't decided on a cover yet but leaning towards the Jane Foster cover assuming IST has them on Tuesday. 2nd choice would be the other DM cover.
i regret getting the jane foster cover. I didn't realize that the standard cover kinda matched the standard cover for War of the Realms, which I have. Not that the spines would line up or anything but still...

Kinda worried on the printer for this omnibus being Imak. Their recent binding have been lower quality than their prior year printings.
I've not had any issues with any of the IMAK bindings I own. But I also don't have the Hulk reprint and silver age reprint from them. Those are the only two I've heard of.
@@NearMintCondition I hope it remains isolated to those volumes for everyone's sake in this hobby. Where I live omnibus are rarely discounted unlike the states.

I would've loved just having an omnibus with the Thor Odinson issues but oh well. Not gonna miss out on these big books lmao! Classic Valkyrie and Lady Sif are forever my faves, it's rather weird how often writers avoid using them.

@@TheUnstoppableBar Sounds cool, I've never cared much about Jane. Dozens of other characters too (including Red Hood or Harley). As long as the stories are pretty good and not absolute trash it's perfectly fine.

Hey Omar, are the annoying AR app logos removed in the omnibus? I found them annoying in the OHCs and would upgrade just to not have those in the book! 😁

How it the paper quality? I’ve read some comments about very thin paper in newer omnis.
Thin, but nothing that bothered me like Defenders 1.
I messed up by getting standard cover cuz online sites made it seem like a wraparound

I ordered this one. I'm really hoping it explains how someone can "become Thor".....I mean THOR is his name....it's not a title. I get how he can be stripped of being the god of thunder....but how does he lose his name? Big Thor fan...have read HUNDREDS of issues just not this run

i dont know why hasnt anyone noticed the printing defects of this omnibus and similar others. if you compare the original issues to this one you can see they have cropped in all of its edges of each page much of the art. why hasnt anyone report this yet?

Definitely interested in this, how was this run? I don’t read to many comics these days but I’m curious to how many Omnibus Volumes there will be for this run and if it’s worth reading in it’s entirety or as some have suggest to just read the god butcher arc…

This has been the most hyped Thor run ever... and when I buy this omnibus it'll be my first Thor run ever. 😎🔨⚡
Two questions: Will Thor by JA vol. 2 feature the (at minimum) main War of the Realms miniseries, and how many volumes will the Thor by JA omnis be?
I suspect it will be two volumes, and will include WotR #1-6 + Omega. I believe that would make it 52 issues (a couple of them over-sized): Mighty Thor (2016) #13-23, #700-706, Unworthy Thor #1-5, Generations: The Unworthy Thor & Mighty Thor, Mighty Thor: At the Gates of Valhalla, Thor (2018) #1-16, and King Thor #1-4. This would make it around the same length as vol. 1.
I guess they could potentially spread it over to three volumes by including Aaron's Valkyrie issues in vol. 3 (Valkyrie: Jane Foster #1-10, King in Black: Return of the Valkyries #1-4, Mighty Valkyries #1-5, maybe material from Incoming) and possibly his Daredevil story from WotR: War Scrolls (which wouldn't really fit in a DD by Zdarsky omni) and his story from the upcoming Thor (2022) #24.

Alright can I go from this run to War of the Realms?
You'd be missing out over two dozen issues in-between: Mighty Thor (2015) #13-23, #700-706, Unworthy Thor, Generations: Unworthy Thor & Mighty Thor, Mighty Thor: and Thor (2018) #1-7. Quite a few of these issues involve the build up to War of the Realms, and more importantly explain why Odinson is back in the role of Thor for WotR.
Does Thors have an effect on the rest of Jason Aaron's run?
Not really. But it shows some characters that I love and they are nice to see again.
Of the various Battleworld mini-series, I think only Old Man Logan and Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows really tie into later series, with both getting their own ongoing series and Logan in particular appearing in other series (the only other place the Vows characters show up is Spider-Geddon IIRC).
I guess technically A-Force as well, but apart from Singularity all the characters were different variants than those who appeared in the subsequent ongoing series.
Great! I have my Quesada cover waiting for me at the shop! I remember asking about this back when I first started watching NMC. I am so sick of the mix-matching THOR readers have to deal with in order to read the story.

I am glad to see the pages of important plot points like those from Original Sin are collected here. It gives me hope that War of the Realms at least the main story arc might be collected in Volume 2. I hope so much that it is. Would be heart breaking to have two omnis and then a trade paper back to collect the complete story arc. I am not interested in the omni of War of the Realms as I don't really care for tie in stories of other marvel characters, when it comes to cross over events.
Gonna try a custom omni for this, see if we can’t get the tenth realm miniseries in there sumhow.

The Gorr arc is probably my favourite Thor story. Didn't like Aaron's run much after that. Already have the OHC for Gorr so this is a pass for me. Still hoping for a reprint of the Simonson omnibus.
Love the whole female Thor arc. Russell Dauterman did a phenomenal job on the art on those issues. I can't wait to dive into this one
