These are very valuable and rare informative footage film shot showing the life of Hong Kong People in the late fifties
Though limited by the low resolution of
photographic equipment , Kodakcrome film was then the best fine movie film
    All these brings back
Unforgettable Memories of my happy childhood.
    Grateful Thanks

Good music, Good vantage point & depicting the lives of the commons in those days. This was certainly a rare insight by extraordinary tourists. Thanks.

I was born in HK, but went to the UK to school; never went back to live. These shots were taken on my trips back to HK for holidays, so I was actually in my teens then. These clips are historical. I was always shooting movies. Thanks for you comments.

What a fabulous video clip - can't want to see Part 2 :D
I knew both Kathy and John when I was growing up and both took piano lessons from my grandmother, Anna Nozadze. Wonderful to see Kathy on this film! Thanks so much for posting it :D

Most vivid depiction of hong kong in nostalgia 50s, images of people in central district were breathtaking

Thanks for your kind comments; it was usually difficult to film the ordinary Chinese folks and they were always very suspicious of the camera as they thought the camera and film would steal their souls. They were very impressed with my friend who accompanied me on these visits as they were amazed that a foreigner could speak such fluent Chinese, and that broke the ice. I still go around filming anything that I think could be historical.

Thank you for your generous complement, I was about 19 years old when I made the documentary, it is a good thing that Kodachrome has kept itscolour all these years. I'd be please to help out.

+Kim Shamash , Thanks for your comment, as you can see I was shooting videos quite early in my youth. At 1.30 minutes into the video my 2 sisters and their friend are seen crossing Queen's Road, my sisters are on the left. My father taught me all about photography and movie-making when I was at a very early age.The young blonde girl seen traveling with me is still very much in touch with me to-day. She was a great help as she could speak fluent Cantonese and still does. There are earlier videos of mine on my You Tube site showing us playing around in the countryside. We had a very privileged and wild childhood in Hong Kong. The world was such a safe place then.
