      Thank you! We have been enjoying it. It’s been getting lots of use. With it and our 1216 lathe and Supermax 19/38 we really like the fit and finish and have been very pleased with all our Laguna products. Thanks for watching and sharing.

    Btw, your first box is much better looking than my first one!

      Thanks! I learned a lot doing it and definitely some things I would do different, but that’s every project right? But overall I was pleased. I forgot to cut the back off before I cut my drawers in, so I didn’t have it to put back on as a stop for the drawers (doh!). That was the main thing. But it wasn’t a complete train wreck.

    Hello. What is the description of the saw blade you used to cut, is it a thin blade? What is the maximum height the 14BX can cut? Thanks

    • @GarageMisadventures
      @GarageMisadventures  3 года назад

      It was a relatively cheap Timberwolf 1/4 inch skip tooth. Nothing too fancy. The max height is close to 14 inches. I think it’s technically 13 and some odd. Plenty for me. Thanks for watching.

    What blades do you recommend?

    • @GarageMisadventures
      @GarageMisadventures  9 месяцев назад

      I haven’t done much extensive blade testing, I just use the Starrett blades, which are the cheaper line that Woodcraft and I’ve been pleased with my results.

    Nice video thank you. I am going to buy the Laguna 14bx but i have a last question, an other guy on youtube made a video about how laguna ceramic guides doesnt hold when you cut curves (he cut bowl blanks for woodturning) but he have not an example while he cutting...you have an example and as i see you can cut curves well! I need to cut curves what you think if i buy 14bx bandsaw...is it necessary to buy also the Carter guide? (Sorry for my bad English)

      I have also heard the carter guides are a good improvement. But a good blade, proper tension, and well setup ceramic guides, you can cut curves. Just keep them reasonable and control your feed rate. I decided to try it out, and so far I haven’t needed the carter guides. Might do it someday because I like fiddling and improving my tools. My suggestion is give it a try, get used to the saw, and if you find it lacking, then go buy the carter. I don’t see the need to go buy them immediately. Different folks will have different opinions but that’s my take on it. Your English is great, I understood exactly what you meant. Thanks for interacting and good luck to you.

    Thanks for this video - what blade were you using on that bandsaw box?

    • @GarageMisadventures
      @GarageMisadventures  4 года назад

      Thank you for watching. It was just a 1/4 inch Starrett blade. One of the cheaper ones. When it broke I replaced it with a slightly more expensive Timber Wolf blade. I’m glad you enjoyed the video, we do a mix of projects and things. Hope you stick around and check out some of our other content, we would love to have you as a subscriber. Let me know if there’s anything you want to see in particular and we will do our best.

      Thanks for the quick response - I was curious about it because I have one on the way but was horrified by another youtuber who claimed the the ceramic guides would not hold when circle cutting (in his case, bowl blanks). I don’t do that but do have need to do some circle cutting. I’m really envious of that lathe - it’s a beauty. Btw, is your bandsaw the 110 or 220 model?

    • @GarageMisadventures
      @GarageMisadventures  4 года назад

      Sure thing. The ceramic guides do hold. You just have to be mindful. It’s been suggested to get the carter guide for use with an 1/8 inch blade and tight circle cutting. The lathe has been awesome. My dad has gotten a ton of use out of it. Near daily since we got it. It’s a huge step up for him from the shop fox lathe. The bandsaw is the 220 version. At the exact same price, it’s a no brainer if you have the wiring. It’s quiet and smooth.

    I’m looking at Laguna 1412 and now see the 14Bx, what made you purchase the BX over the 1412? I see it’s $300 more. Did you get the 110 or 220.
    Thanks

    • @GarageMisadventures
      @GarageMisadventures  4 года назад

      Thanks for watching Robert. Our saw is the 220 volt model. So that is one big reason we chose the 14BX. Also the brake is great. If you have an opportunity to see them in person we just thought the 14BX was just a little better thought out saw. And as we mentioned in the video the mobility kit is more out of the way on the base of the 14BX. Certainly no regrets on the upgrade. Hope this is helpful.

      Garage Misadventures one more question looking at 1412 and 14BX is the $300 more for BX justified? For the brake and cabinet? I have never owned a bandsaw and it's a very expensive purchase.
      Thanks

    • @GarageMisadventures
      @GarageMisadventures  4 года назад +1

      I guess that’s a fair question, and really something you have to determine for yourself. However I will say I don’t think the 1412 comes in 220, so if you have 220 power in that case getting the 220 14BX makes it worth it by itself. It’s quiet and smooth. I really do like the rest of the features of the saw though, so it is entirely my opinion, that yes I think it’s worth it. I get it that it’s a big purchase. I like buying things once and having things that will last. I don’t think the 1412 is a bad saw at all, but I don’t think you’ll regret stepping up to the 14BX later either. So take that as my opinion for what it is worth. Hope maybe that helps a little.

      Garage Misadventures is the brake something that is very nice to have? I'm going with the 110v.

    • @GarageMisadventures
      @GarageMisadventures  4 года назад

      Yes. You can just step on it and bam blade stops. No waiting to grab your material. Since you are buying 110 I guess it’s probably more of a decision between the two. But I think I’d still prefer the 14BX.
